need help reset command bq34z100

I wanted to start over,  i see the status listed as 06 (under data flash - gas guaging tab),  using eval board, so I went to the control field under the data ram tab, entered 0041, hit return,  but the status stayed 06. r&r the battery, still at 06.    I was expecting it to change, so I doubt part is reset.
