I am using a bq30z554 gauge/protection IC but do not need the fuse pin (I am using a PTC instead). If I leave the pin floating, the pin floats high and the IC believes that the fuse has been driven/tripped. It then sets the FUSE bit (Operation Status > FUSE) and prevents the CHG and DSG FETs from turning on. So I short the Fuse pin to ground and the IC works as expected.
My question is: Does shorting the Fuse pin to ground cause any issues with the IC? The datasheet shows a 2k internal resistance but should I use a 10k series resistor to ground instead?
Thank you all in advance.
