BQ27410 gauge not initializing after cmomand insert battery?

I'm able to communicate using I2C to the BQ27410. I can execute the control subcommands, like reading fw_version, control status etc.

I'm unable to read voltage or flags.

I'm issuing a bat_insert command 0x0C and look at the control_status 0x00  register, but it always returns 0x0C. (initialization bit is not 1)

Is the gauge not initializing? And when that is the case, if i execute a command like read flags, read voltage (standard commands) they always return 0x00?
