I am evaluating a BQ34Z100-G1 for a new design and while trying to perform a calibration for the first time, I saw that the BQ34Z100 internal temperature was slowly rising to about 40C while charging a single cell at 3A (currently at ~3.6V). When I looked at the eval board with a thermal camera, the BQ34Z100 die was over 100C! 15 minutes after disconnecting the system from the charger, the die temperature is still at ~96C. I closed bqStudio and disconnected the - battery wire from the terminal block and the temperature dropped down to ambient again. I plugged the - battery wire back in and started bqStudio again and the die temperature stayed at ambient. I am charging at 3A again and the die temperature remains around ambient. What happened?
