BQ24078: Behavior when input source disconnects quickly

Part Number: BQ24078

Hi,

I would like to learn what to expect from BQ24078 under these circumstances:

I have the charger up and running with IN at 5V and a battery charged to 3.8V, so that OUT is regulated to 3.8V + 210 mV. EN1=0 and EN2=1 so that ILIM is used, no USB100 or USB500 modes. I then get glitches on my IN supply, where the source disconnects during x ms before connecting again (x varying from 100 us to 100 ms between tests).

1) How fast will BAT kick in to supply charge to OUT when these disconnects occur?

2) What will trigger BQ24078 to react? Is it V(OUT) falling (as an effect of V(IN) or I(IN) falling)?

3) Chapter 9.3.4.1 describes "Input Source Connected" and chapter 9.3.4.2 describes "Input Source Not Connected". When transitioning between these, will BQ24078 go via battery supplement mode with battery gradually helping out as V(IN) is sinking, discharging what capacitance that node may have, or what steps/modes will BQ24078 go through in the transition to Input Source Not Connected?

Thanks!
