bq34z110EVM Design Steps procedure. Optimization Cycle problem.

Hello,

I'm using the bq34z110.

The battery is 24V, 12Ah Lead-Acid (12 cells).

The chip correctly read the voltage and current of the pack. The number of series cells is programmed to 12.

When I try to follow the "Design Steps" procedure (page 29 of SLUSB55A), all steps upto step 5 are OK.

Step 1: I've programmed Qmax=12000mAh, series cells=12, design capacity=12000mAh. All other values left at default. Is there something else important?

Step 6: I'm not sure exactly what chemistry number to program. At some point I saw that it has no meaning to the chip, and that it doesn't use it.

Step 7: I've skipped this for now, but I don't think that it should influence the functionality of the chip (besides accuracy).

When I'm trying to do step 8 (Run an optimization cycle), I can see that VOK and QEN goes high. Then I discharge at C/10, as specified, and waiting for relax. Then the OCV bit goes high, and VOK goes low, as it should.

During the discharge, I can see that the "update status" register is 04, as it should be.

The problem is that now, update status should be changed to 05 by the chip, but is stays at 04, and the Qmax register stays, as before at 12000mhA.

What could possibly  be wrong here? My guess is that I'm not programming all the necessary parameters to the flash (in step 1).

Thanks, Isak.
