BQ34Z100-G1 - chemical ID selection process

Hi Thomas,

We are using bq34z100-G1 fuel gauge in our design. The battery that we are using does not have chem id in the list given by TI. So as suggested, we started to log the charging and discharging cycle using Battery Management Studio. The tool was able to detect the fuel gauge. The steps we followed are as follows,

1. Open the tool and make sure the fuel gauge is detected.

2. Connect the battery for charging with the rate  of C/100.

3. Start the log. (We did not change any register values or configuration files for this process, Is it required to setup anything before starting the log?)

4. After complete charging , the battery is allowed to rest for 2 hrs.

5. Apply load of discharge battery at C/10 rate.

6. Remove the load just before the cut off voltage is reached.

7. Allow the battery to rest for 5 hrs and then stop the log.

While carrying out the above process, during step 5, the tool automatically got disconnected with the error message mentioned ," EV2300 USB timeout occurred". and "Log interval too small" in between.

We are unable to find the issue, in spite of carrying out the process for more than 3 times.

Please let us know if any requirements or settings has to be done to complete the chemical ID selection process.

Our battery spec:  Li-ion, 4000 mAh, 7.4 Volts,

Regards,

Shilpa
