Interfacing a bq40z50 tto a PC for battery pack development testing using Labview

I'm developing a battery application using a standard BQ monitoring/protection device and a separate BQ charger chip.

I want to perform development testing of the charging and cell balancing circuits using Labview to automate the battery charge/discharge cycling.

I'm wondering if there are any easy ways to interface Labview to the TI Battery Management Studio software?

Or if there are any Labview interface VI's that support communicating with the BQ chips.

It is possible to write an interface to labview using basic I2C/SMBus commands, but this seems like it could be a major amount of work to develop.

I was thinking of using the battery management SW to get the chip set-up, loaded with the correct FW and chemistry selections, then hookingh it up to may batteries and Labview for the cycling while monitoring the battery voltages and status thru the BQ.

Anyone ever done this before?
