Hi,
I would like to know if the bq40z50 gauge can communicate with the bq24725A charger without having a host connected on on the bus.
The idea is to have a smart battery pack containing battery, gauge, and charger. The pack should start charging as soon as it is connected to the mains power without having the pack connected to a host controller. the bq40z50 would need to wake and configure the bq24725A with the required parameters to start charging autonomously. It should go to sleep if AC power is disconnected.
Can this be achieved and if so, how?
PS: I cannot use the bq40z60 as its minimum 5mR sense resistor would dissipate too much power as it is a high discharge current application. I need a solution that utilizes low-R NFETs in the power path and 1mR sense resistors in the gauge.
Thanks,
Fred
