I'm currently working with a bq27621 Fuel Gauge and am having trouble communicating with the control register. The documents make it a little bit unclear how the I2C sequence should go to read/write to the control register. For example, if I want to read the device type, how would I do that? The document makes it sound like you write 0x00 or 0x01, to call the Control function, then write 0x0001, since we want the device type register, and then read to get the device type, which should return 0x0621. I've tried this and it doesn't seem to do anything. Could someone explain the I2C procedure for reading this register in a little bit more detail than the datasheet? I should be able to figure out how to write to it once I can read from it.
