Part Number:bq40z60
I have a board with a bq40z60.
We notice that there is a huge input spike of current when CHARGER_EN is toggled, then the current goes to zero before reaching the correct value.
This behavior is the same as when the charger is removed and attached.
It sometimes starts oscillating, and rapidly switches on-off. However, there is no trigger of the safety flags.
This doesn't seem to happen when the system load is not drawing current. Then the CHARGER_EN toggling current into the battery becomes very smooth.
Any ideas for troubleshooting?
Is there some kind of make before break action for the power path? Is there some kind of loop compensation I am missing?
I've tried increasing the current rate of change settings, but it seems to make the oscillation worse.
The current spike causes our lower-current-capability wall warts to cycle on-off as well.
