Maximum Battery Capacity Supported

Hi,

I have noticed that on TI selection table that every fuel gauge is specified maximum battery capacity supported. Example: bq27200 up to 6000mAh, bq27541-v200 up to 8000mAh, bq27541-G1 up to 16000mAh.

However, this information does not indicated on datasheet of some of the gauge IC and no information on how would this affect the gauging of battery pack that is over the specified limit.

Is this really reflecting the capability of the IC? Or just a classification for marketing purposes?

Based on some feedback, example bq27541-v200 will still give the reading of larger capacity battery beyond 8000mAh. But not sure about the accuracy or impact on the gauging algorithm.

Asking this as part of my consideration to decide to use back existing gauge IC or to design in a new one for larger capacity battery.

Please help to enlighten. Thanks.
