BQ27742-G1: BQ27742-G1 - Device ID

Hi,

Good Evening.

We are interfaced Renesas S124 MC with BQ27742-G1 device via I2C.

As per data sheet, 

The fuel gauge supports the standard I2C read, incremental read, one-byte write quick read, and functions.

The 7-bit device address (ADDR) is the most significant 7 bits of the hex address and is fixed as 1010101, or 0x55.

The 8-bit device address is therefore 0xAA or 0xAB for write or read, respectively.

Control() command has command code 0x00 and 0x01

Sub command name : DEVICE_TYPE sub command code 0x0001.

S124 device is not able to read the device id from BQ27742.

I2C wave forms attached.

We need sample c sample code to read device ID and  read/write any 16 bit data to/from device.

Hi Team,

1. From datasheet Figure23., the Vp-p is about 0.2V, But it is 0.1V(+-2.5%) when I using Webench simulation.

What makes the difference? Which one I can refer to?

2. Now my application is 0A to 200mA, Vout is 1.2V within +/-5%, does TLV62568A could meet the spec?

I'd like to connect in series two power supplies: TPS610995 (3.6 V out) and TPS71533 (3.3 V out) then. I'd like to have accurate 3.3 V.  Load current is 20 mA.

Please, answer, is 0.3 V (3.6 - 3.3=0.3 V) enough for TPS71533 work at 20 mA current? But in reality there may be less than 0.3 V ? Temperature range is minus 40 to plus 60 C. 

Or shouldn't  do that?

TPS1663: Is it possible to protect the TPS1663 from reverse input polarity ? Reverse current from OUT to IN would be acceptable.

Is it possible to protect the only the TPS1663 from damage at reverse polarity ?

A reverse current from OUT to IN over the internal body-diode of the TPS1663 internal FET would be acceptable for me.

Is it possilbe to do a protection with a diode at the GND-pin or something else?

In fact, after mapping this Pin with FD bit (Battery Status), the Pin 15 is always to 1.5 V level.

BQ78350: Charge & discharge BQ78350 behavior

Hi there,

I'm working with the BQ76940EVM which has the gauge BQ78350DBT. I'm making some charge and discharge cycles and I don't understand the main behavior. I'm working with a 14S topologie.

Attach a picture where you can see a charge cycle (1A); and just after a discharge (-0.872A).

I have two questions:

- The "absolute state of charge" (green) and the "relative state of charge" (red) start to increase because the battery is charging at 1A, even you can see 4 cell voltage increasing as well. At 1950 seconds these signals stops to increase even with a 1A maintained!!!!  Between 1950 to 2200 seconds the current charging with 1A and the signals are fixed. WHY?

- At 2200 seconds I start the discharge cycle with -0.872mA and both state of charge falls to 0 really quickly. WHY?  I excepted a slowly decreasing values. Why falls to 0% so suddenly?

Probably I'm setting wrongly the registers.

I am looking for a battery protection IC

I am looking for a battery protection IC. That can handle handle a 6S battery pack 22.2V in the 1-8 parallel configuration there is no access to the individual cells within the 6S battery pack. The 6S battery pack has over discharge protection built in and the charge balancing. Furthermore, the 6S battery packs will be charged outside of this system. I would like to add temperature and short protection to the parallel battery pack utilizing 1-8 6S battery packs. I was looking at BQ2980 however the voltages are set for single cell. I am not sure if it's wise to rig this part to work with 22.2V. Could you suggest a better part for this application? If you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask. 1. an this board be used for the following application: A buck converter working at 1MHz switching frequency and  input voltage of 3.3V output voltage of 1.8V and load current of 0.1-0.2A  

2. May this board be powered up with an input voltage less than 10V applied to it as input voltage? For example, does this board operate appropriately when a 3.3V input voltage is applied to the buck converter as input voltage?

BQ25570: Charging Efficiency

Customer is using BQ25570RGRR with the following settings:
Vout = 1.8V
MPP(Voc) = 80%
VBAT_OV = 4.1V

They measured charging the battery using a Solar cell and BQ25570 in full sun conditions. Based on the measured data they are getting a charging efficiency between ~85% to 63%.

Any suggestions to achieve higher and more steady charging efficiency performance?  Or is this typical?

The customer is looking for a compatible charger with bq27542 or the bq27546 fuel gauge ICs for Li-Ion batter with below specifications. Can you please advise the best charger options?

The nominal voltage of the cell (single cell battery) is 3.8V, battery capacity is 3000 - 5000mah.

The current is max at 3amp.When charging, needs to charge at 4.35v.

Hi TI engineer

I have a question about LM5170 evm board.

I replaced TVS diode SM5S36AHE3/2D to TPSMB20A(3 pcs) ,then I shutdown the circuit at output current 60A.

There is someing different on the waveform.We can see negative polarity voltage on the Vo1 waveform and positive polarity voltage on the Vo2 waveform.
I don't understand why the Vo1 waveform will drop to negative voltage.I think that someing wrong has be happened.

Please suggest how to solve or choose correct TVS diode.
