Hi,

We followed EVM circuit to build ~ 20 pcs of PCB. Among them we see some PCB got failure in wakeup.

The symptom is that when pull  WAKEUP pin high, it does not wake up the BQ76PL455A-Q1 and also we see abnormal  high current 80mA~140mA.

Which portion of the circuit should we improve ?

Thanks!

BQ79606A-Q1: Use only as electrical interface

Part Number: BQ79606A-Q1

Hello,

I’m designing an optical transceiver for the BQ79606’s COMM Daisy Chain Bus and would like to ask a few questions regarding the use of the BQ79606 as an electrical interface chip.

simplified illustration:

Is it possible to configure the BQ79606 in a way that it only functions as an interface chip without participating (listening / responding to the data) on the bus? Ideally the BQ79606 would behave completely transparently so no changes to an existing bus would be needed when an optical transceiver is added.

As an alternative to using the BQ79606, does TI offer a dedicated interface IC for the COMM Bus?

Best Regards

Achim

HI,

There are two questions for Rboot.

How can the Rboot pin by pass the Cboot pin, when the boot capacitor dischare?

Why need the boot diode? Is it for reverse voltage protection?

Very appreciate for answering the question!

BQ25886: VBAT undervoltage protection

Part Number: BQ25886

Hi,

Stumbled upon this IC for an application I'm currently developing. I'm having a hard time understanding if there really is a undervoltage protection or not. I.E VBAT falls to 6V or less. Does the specified transistor Q4 cut off the supply to protect the battery?

The feature I'm looking for is briefly mention in section 8.3.2 and 8.3.6.3, but its refering to UVLO threshold (VBAT_UVLO_RISING), a variable that dsn't seem to be declared anywhere in the datasheet.

Could you confirm that the IC indeed does cut off supply if battery falls below X voltage?

TPS23758: how to know PSE power class & type from PD side?

Part Number: TPS23758

Hi team,

We would like to know how to recognize type and class from PD side.

Based on basics document, I knew that PSE and PD is classified once PoE is handshaking.

We want to use power limit by PD side once PD knows PSE is not supporting required power.

WEBENCH® Tools/LM3410: Power management forum

Part Number: LM3410

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,
I am using LM3410 to debug the LED driver circuit. The circuit parameters are as follows:
Power In:5V/6A
Load: five 2.9-V LEDs in series(Max current:700mA)
1.When the duty cycle of the input is 80%, the current of the LED circuit is only 107mA, which is far below the theoretical value. At the same time, the temperature of LM3410 is very high and can reach up 90 ℃
2..When increase duty cycle, the current decreases by 3mA. This scene is very strange. How to explain it?
3. When the duty cycle increases to a certain extent, such as 96%, the LED starts to flicker and the current ripple is very large.
What is the reason for the above phenomenon? What is the problem in the circuit?
Best Regards!

Part Number: UC2843AQ

Dear team,

please support on following:

tested UC2843AQ and preparing the schematics with "startup Circuite".
We have following question:

How to implement a faster start up time but keep power dissipation LOW on Rstart? Especially at high voltage (110V)
We have the idea to use voltage stabilisation(insteat Rstart) with one NPN transistor which wil be active only at start up.

Maybe you have some additional ideas?

Thanks

TPS2121: TPS2121 output drop when switch from Higher to Lower

$

Part Number: TPS2121

Dear Community,

I've been design power multiplexer for my circuit, using TPS2121, IN1 is primary source power by Li-ion battery range from 2.8-4.2V

IN2 is power by 5V auxilary source.

My purpose is when IN1 or IN2 is presented, output will be one. When IN2 is applied while IN1 is still present, the transition from lower to higher is perfect, no problem.

But when IN2 is disconnected while IN1 is still present (transition from higher to lower source), I issue that there is a drop on the output voltage (up to 2V as in Oscilloscope), as it drop to 2V, then back to 2.8V.

This cause my circuit turn off during drop out. As in the datasheet, the TPS2121 is said to be fast switch over between 2 source (up to 5us).

The topology im using is higher voltage operation (VCOMP) and it is said the switch over time tsw = 100us.

But the measure result show 550us switch over time.

In fact, I must say that if the transition between 2 source is not seamless, the drop voltage could cause my device to turn off during this time.

I've add 1 more 100uF 6.3V capacitor on the output of TPS2121 but the result the same.

Is there any recommend or other solution for hot-plugin/plug-out or immediately transition between 2 source multiplexer.

I notice the TPS25942 could be use for hot-swap controller, but the datasheet said it still has switch over time.

I need a solution could help me switch with 0 switch over time, or should i try the fast switch of TPS2121

Thanks.

BQ4050EVM-561: Updating the Full Charge Capacity (FCC) register

Part Number: BQ4050EVM-561

Hi, I'm using BQstudio to monitor a battery. I have a few problems.

1) BQstudio is reading that the full charge capacity is 4400 mAh, my actual battery capacity (2S) is somewhere between 5000 and 6000 mAh. How can I update the full charge capacity? I tried completely discharging the battery, but it didn't change.

2) The temperature read by BQstudio is -273.2 C. How is this possible? how to update it? I tried enabling all thermistors, but it didn't change.

3) Does the BQ4050 normalize the capacity of the battery according to the value in Full Charge Capacity register?

Respectfully,

Elkhouly

UCC28780: UCC28780 in passive clamp flyback

$

Part Number: UCC28780

Can UCC28780 be used for passive clamped flyback converter? I've tried to use this controller in a passive clamped flyback circuit. I'm not connecting the PWMH pin to anywhere. In the space of HS GaN FET, I'm using a superfast diode. Otherwise, the schematic is just the same (except the snubber resistor in parallel with the clamp capacitor; its value is 12k in my schematic) as given in the reference design TIDA-01622.

I'm more interested in learning the control strategy of the ACF controller in this configuration. What I found is that at Vin=325V, Vout=15V, Iout=3.15A, PWML isn't coming at the first valley of switching node always.(Please visit the site to view this file) I'm attaching the waveform here. What's the cause of this? I can understand that as ZVS isn't happening now the control strategy of ACF (UCC28780) won't be applied here. Then how does the controller decide when to provide the PWML (or turn on the primary FET) signal?
