TPS2557-Q1: Pin 2 or 3 open; pin 6 or 7 open

Hello, 

since Pin FMEA of the device mentioned is not available,

May I confirm if either one of the two input pins are open, the device will still work perfectly or not?

or it will still work but with limitations.

the same question with output pins. what is the condition of the output if one of the output pins is open?

Could UCC28064 work normally in DC INPUT?I have tested UCC28064A EVM-004 IN DC 200V input,but it works instability。Just like the picture as below,CH1 GDB;CH2 GDA;CH3 Vout。It seams restart  in startup。Why it happens.Thanks.

LM5118-Q1: Functions in Buck mode, but not Buck Boost mode.

Hello,

After revising my layout design due to prior advice, I have built a prototype and have begun testing it.

I have found that it functions in buck mode, where the input supply is greater than the output, but does not function in buck-boost mode where the input falls below the desired output.
When the input voltage is below the set output voltage of 23.8V, the output voltage equals the input voltage.

BQ25898D: about Shipping Mode

hello,

I have two questions.

The QON pin is always open.

(1) Section 9.2.10.1 explains BATFET Disable Mode (Shipping Mode).
 Is Shipping Mode when voltage is applied to VBAT when power is not supplied to VBUS and VBAT?
If the answer is Shipping Mode, does that mean that no voltage is output to SYS until the VBUS input is turned on? (Register control is not performed.)
 
(2) I understand that you can enter Shipping Mode by setting BATFET_DIS bit.
Does the device enter Shipping Mode if both VBUS and VBAT are powered off without setting the BATFET_DIS bit?

JEITA Guideline Compliance in Charge Mode in 9.2.7.5.1
I understand that charging will stop when the temperature is lower than T1 or higher than T5 (for example, when the thermistor is not connected).


Is the battery connected to SYS via the internal BATFET?
Or will it turn off the BATFET inside the device and stop charging and discharging?

LM5066: LM5066 shut down the FANs with bit 3 and 9 set (HFCB)

I am testing a FAN controller board in a thermal chamber and have encountered a weird failure. FAN controller has 4 fans, 3A, 54V each. Each fan connected to an LM5066. FAN speed could go up to 16500 RPM.

At 0C, when I ramp up from 4000RPM to 16500RPM, sometimes FAN1 and FAN2 shut down by LM5066. Note that the failure is not during start-up, but when FANs are running at lower speed (4000RPM) and ramped up to 16500RPM.

LM5066 register E1 is 0AC8 for the two failed FANs and is 0888 for the functional FANs.

Comparing the registers, notice that:

Bit 3 (IIN_OC) is set in all 4 LM5066 devices

Bit 6 (DEVICE_OFF) is set in 2 failed LM5066 devices (makes sense)

Bit 9 (TIMER_LATCHED_OFF) is set in 2 failed LM5066 devices.

 I am not sure why Fault timer is expired, doesn’t it only run during the start-up?

I have also exchanged failed fans 1,2 and 3,4 and the failure followed the LM5066 location not the FANs.

LMZ10501: about ESR of Cout

Our customer is using the LMZ10501. The device overheats.
Customer made to set no-load, but overheats was not to be cleared.
They are using tantal-cap for Cout. That cap has 3-ohm ESR.

Question;
When use to high ESR cap to Cout, is LMZ10501 to be un-stability?

Hi,

i have been working on dcdc converter(design is similar to one present in your paper ''200-W Interleaved Forward Converter Design Review Using TI s UCC28221 PWM Controller'' ) while testing IC alone i get every value as mentioned in datasheet, once i connected entire circuit my output is zero because gate is not switching. Problem i found is Vref is zero.

In normal DC input condition, Vref should be 3.3V right? i'm getting value of 1.5V then instantly reduce to zero.

LP2989: For the LP2989IMM-5.0/NOPB, what is the actual minimum input voltage for 200 ma output?

Hi, we've been reviewing the datasheet for the LP2989 (we're using the LP2989IMM-5.0/NOPB), and in some places, it's saying the minimum input voltage is 1 volt higher than the output voltage, but in other places (e.g. Section 6.5), it shows a Max Dropout voltage of 0.2 votls (0.3 volts over full temperature range).  So, would the device work properly with a Vin of 5.5 volts?

i checked Configulation -> SRecord Programming -> Program Srec and Start Test .

but Flash Data is not upload.

How can i upload Srec File?

Do you test whether this specification is satisfied in the shipping test?

BQ24104: BQ24104 overheating problem

Hello experts.

Our battery-pack products have BQ24104  battery charger IC .
Now there is an overheating problem with BQ24104.
The package surface temperature is more than 90℃ and STAT pins output error.

Not all products have problem, most of them are normal(package temp is around 50℃), but a few products have this problem.
We want to know the cause and countermeasure.

In our circuit, Vin=12V and charge current is about 1A. battery is 2Cell(8.4V) Li-ion.

Our circuit is designed with reference to specsheet Fig16, but there are some differences:

  • N-MOS FET between RSNS and BatteryPack+. Gate and Vin, Drain and BatteryPack+, Source and Rsns are connected. FET turns on when 12V input.
  • D1 is not mounted
  • 10Ω resistor between IN and VCC
  • RISET1=10k、RISET2=5.6k
  • STAT1/2 are connected to MCU with external PU resistor.
  • PG is open

Looking for a low-profile low-current TI LDO with adjustable voltage down to 0V

To whom it may concern,

LT3080 is a high-current high voltage LDO from ADI. It has a special feature that the output voltage can be continuously adjusted down to zero. Of course, when output is really at 0, a bleeding resistor needs to be connected from 0 to a negative voltage to allow bleeding current for stability. This is fine for me.

Although 'adjustable down to 0' is ideal for my design, this product is an overkill for my current consumption, and thus it takes too much space on my PCB. 

So I wondering if there is any small low-profile TI product with same feature as LT3080. I only need to have up to 50mA of current and my output voltage goes from 0V to 3.6V.

TPS2480: Questions of Layout

There are some layout guide in datasheet, I have two questions:

1. Gate amplifier have hign bandwidth means can accept more noise, so need the trace short, is this right? or some other consideration.

2. The PROG TIMER EN pin have high input impedances, why these high impedences pin especially need the leads short, what's the consideration of short lead and high input impedances.
