BQ20Z655-R1: Not going to sleep.

I cannot get my unit to sleep. I'm not seeing either the CHG or DSG FETs turn off.

I have a non-removable battery so [NR] = 1 in CfgB. I have set my sleep current higher than I need (50mA) for testing purposes. When "idle" I'm seeing about ~3mA of absolute current. I don't understand why it won't sleep.

The 'PRES' pin on my design is grounded. But I have read that "If the [NR] bit is set, the PRES input can be left floating, as it is not monitored." So I'm am interpreting that this is not the issue, correct?

Also, sending an 0x11 in the manufacturer access line does not send it it sleep either.

Hi,

Please let me ask about coulomb counting during cell balancing. I understand that the charge current is bypassed during charging or at reset. Then the bypassed current during charging is not flowed to cell so this can't count as charge current. And also the bypassed current at rest is not flowed through sense resistor so this can't count discharge current. In fact I think that the bypassed current will produce the error of calculated capacity. I'd like to understand about it so please share any app note or presentation material if you have.

I am using a Li ion polymer battery pack system with 2 serial cells. The pack has three terminals - pack+ pin, pack- pin and NTC pin. Individual cell terminals are not accessible.

My question: whether can I use bq40z60 for this configuration? If yes, what limitations I will have in the design.

Dear, All

"3. GPC - Optimize room and low temperature performance. Includes (2)."
Log data was uploaded to the above system.
As a result, due to problems, I have two questions about the bq 27421-G1 Technical Reference.
The first question is about Qmax Cell 0 formula.
"6.4.2.3.1 Qmax Cell 0"
The following equation is described.
Qmax (mAh) = Qmax Cell 0 × Design Capacity / 2^14
If Qmax Cell 0 is Default value, does this mean the same value as Design Capacity?
In this case, in GPC_report
Qmax, mAh: 233195
And it was output.
This value does not match.
What should I consider?

The second is the setting value of Ra.
The following values were specified as NewRa.

I tried to return default configuration using .srec from this thread - e2e.ti.com/.../552849

But after programming, I cant start learning cycle, after sending IT_ENABLE nothing happens. QEN = 0, VOK = 0, RUP_DIS = 0.

How can I start the learning cycle again?

Hello,

We are working on a 5s Li-Ion battery pack that uses the bq78350-R1 fuel gauge in conjunction with the bq76920 AFE. Our customer requires that we program a certain string of information into the Manufacturer Info register, which is read by their device using the read Manufacturer Data command 0x23. However this command does not always return the correct data. It doesn't seem quite clear in the bq78350 Technical Reference Manual, but it looks like the Manufacturer Data command is also used to read calibration data as well as some lifetime data.

What is the protocol to read each of the different sets of data? We need to be able to read the Manufacturer Info string every time the read command is issued.

It also looks like every time we use bqStudio to read battery information, the read manufacturer data command changes 'modes' and reads the different sets of data.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you,

I have follow the

How to use the bq28z610 EVM available at https://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/battery_management/f/180/t/551498 with EV2300 and the kit manage to charge up the battery.

However, when I remove the power supply and I expect the fully charge battery to kick in and continue to supply to the evaluation board so that I can continue to use the BQstudio to monitor the discharge. What I saw is the I2C connection is disconnected and Bqstudio is not able to detect the eval board? My question is why the fully charge battery cannot use to supply the power to use the eval board? Can I do this?

If cannot, how do I monitor the discharge?

On my own PCB board, I received the error 1470 when I try to program the chemistry. how do I get rid of this message?

Hi Team,

We are using Bq27220 in one of our application, I am getting confused from the links provided in the datasheet, all these links refer to Impedance track part, but Bq27220 is CEDV based gauge

As per my understanding, i have to do at least following steps in order to get gauge working

A) update parameters in RAM as per my battery and upload the various log file in GPC calculator for getting Compensated End of Discharge Voltage (CEDV) coefficients.

B) Then I will get the nearest profile parameters which have to be programmed in OTP memory

Now I have following questions

1) Does my understanding is correct?

2) What are the minimum parameters which have to be updated before taking logs.

3)What are the data I will get after uploading log files?

Hi we are using Bq27220, as per my understanding we need to update CEDV coefficients, for that, we need to submit 6 log files at a different temperature which is time to consume for us as our battery capacity is too much. Please let me know if we can use gauge by just updating required parameters. Also, please how it will impact performance of gauge if we are not doing process for updating CEDV coefficients

Hi, TI,

If the current accuracy is -600mA, it will be 11mA. (± 3mA for IC SPEC)
Current CAL ... bqstudio does not have a window to do cc offset cal.
In bqstudio, we calibrate manually using 'board offset' & 'pack calibration'
It is possible to do
DATASHEET also has no CMD for CAL ...
If you have CC calibration method, please reply.
