BQ78350-R1: AOLD & AOLDL alarm

Hello, 

I am using the Gauge on a 15s 5p setup. I have my OCD set to -20000 mAh and am trying to discharge my pack at around 10000 mA. But, before I can even get to 10000 mA discharge is being disabled due to AOLD and ASCD. I have tried setting the threshold to as high as possible just to check and see if it works and I still get it discharge disabled.(Please visit the site to view this file)

Hi team,

During the charging process, the RSOC has not reached 100%, and the FC TC has not been set. Why is the OC set in advance? As shown in the second picture, the condition of RC >= FCC is not yet met. Why is the OC set information already mentioned in the TRM?

Could you help to answer it?

BQ27750: how to quit ROM mode for BQ27750 using BQstudio.

Hi E2E community,

Got a question regarding the BQstudio ( V 1.3.54.1) and ROM mode.

I have tried to create the "Golden Image" from my BQ27750EVM using EV2300 (V.3.1c) and after the reading procedure ("Create Image Files" button) my BQ27750EVM stucked in ROM mode. Device reacts on I2C address 0x16 (not 0xAA as usual). I used Advanced Command I2C tool to read some values on TWI 0x16 and address 0x00  -> the response is 0x17 How can I make the IC to exit ROM mode using "Advanced Command Tool" in BQstudio ??

Hello

We are looking to use BQ34110 with a 3S1P  NiMH FDK HR 4/3 FA

my question is how to get the profile to download into the BQ34110

do TI has the profile?

the application is a low power digital system

i have 3 dis-charge typical currents profile

1 - Sleep arround 150µAH

2 - Standard run mode : 10mAH

3- higth current discharge mode : 500mAH

the temperature range is -40 and 85°C

it will be recharged with a 220mA solar panel

if not, what are the tests that i should do, in case there are several tests at the same temperature, can i do tests in parallel, while using several packs ( what is the methodologie to do, using the ba34110evm and EV2400 ??)

BQ40Z50: First charge cycle only goes to 98%

I have made a BMS based on the BQ40Z50. Did the learning cycle, Made a golden file.

First time the packs charge, most stop around 98% and never get to 99% or 100% (I have bit set to require EOC success to go to 100%).

Is this because the FCC it learned is higher than the average pack? How can I fix that?

BQ40Z80EVM-020: connecting to battery management studio

I cannot connect to the battery management studio with the BQ40Z80EVM-020. I have ver 1.3.86 installed and i added 4800_0_02-bq40z80.zip to the right directory. When starting the program and having the evaluation module plugged in the module does not auto populate. I can select the part manually but all options are greyed out because initial read fails. I have the correct pins connected on J18 and J22 per sluubt4 docuentation for the onboard EV2400. I have tried two different modules and same result.

Is something else required to read the device?

BQ40Z50-R2: I can't seem to get my gas gauge to work correctly

I created my own boards using the BQ40z50-R2 eval board circuit design and so far all the voltages and currents are accurate and working as designed. However my gas gauge is not updating correctly. In the gag gauging registers I've set all cells to 5000mAh which is my battery pack (4S2P). When I charge I have the LEDs turn on and it tracks somewhat but ends up with some low calculated mAh around 300-1700mAh, as shown in the remaining and full charge capacity registers. Eventually the gauge will show 100% charged. When I go to discharge the remaining capacity and full charge capacity reset to zero and the charge icon stays at 100% and all 5 LEDs stay on through the full discharge until I go to charge again. At that point it updates but still never makes it to the 5000mAh. I've been through four or five full discharge and charge cycles and still will not track properly. I've dug through the technical reference and tried different register settings and still can't figure out what I'm missing. I've attached my register settings. I did try changing the Load Select to 1 from 7 and still see no change. Any help trying to figure out how to properly setup the gas gauge would be appreciated.(Please visit the site to view this file)


BQ27750: EV2300 compatibility?

Hi, I have a bq27750-based fuel gauge board that I am trying to connect to bqStudio via the I2C interface on an EV2300. Is this supported or is an EV2400 required?

I have added 1750_0_04-bq27750.bqz (found on this forum) to the config directory of my bqStudio software (1.3.54.1). Any other software I need to install/upgrade?

I can see with a scope an I2C signal reaching the board from the EV2300. However I consistently get a "No acknowledge from device" error message.

CCS/BQ27510-G3: GDK ,BQstudio 1.3.76

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I am using GDK and BQ studio 1.3.76 to get 'golden image' for BQ27510-G3. The 'update status' has changed to '02' and 'Qmax' and 'Ra table' also have updated. Before I export 'golden imgae',  I check the 'dataflash' and change 'discharge current threshold' from 400mA to 2000 mA, NEXT press 'WRITE to ALL '. There is a pump that this data isn't stored. In order to make sure if this data is stored , I close 'dataflash' and reopen it. But I notice that 'update status ' CHANGES to '01'. The golden image doesn't store.

BQ27520-G4: The Ra-Table has no update after learning cycle

I did a lot learning cycle the ba27520 has not seem the Ra-table update, Qmax was update and update status update to 1 from 0 when I summited IT Enable command.

please help to check what wrong with my learning cycle process or my setting.

Attached file are gauge export file after learning cycle. chemID is #1783
Test process
1. Enable I.T. by EVSW command
2. Reset gauge by EVSW command

3. Discharge the pack by 260mA until cell voltage reaches 3.0V
4. Rest for 6 hrs.
5. Charge the pack by 4.2V 1.275A until charging current less than 26mA
6. Rest for 3 hrs.
7. Repeat step 3~6 for 4 cycles.

Hi,

I also use bq27750 in my own product but the problem is when I write in to the data flash then no data is write in to the register,

for example : If I want to write on register CUV  Threshold ( address is 0x45FB ) and set 3000 mv by sending the I2C command format i.e. 

Write : 3E FB 45 ( little endian )

Write : 40 B8 0B ( little endian )

Write : 60 FC 06 ( little endian )

It will show default value 2500 mv, command is fail to write on the register.

But the following write sequence is work on BQ27750EVM.

Customer's system is  BQ24193BQ27531-G1, it finds the charger stops during charging.

By checking the register, bit CCA becomes H. This bit is related Coulomb Counter Calibration.

Question

*When Coulomb counter calibration happens ?

*Even during the charging,  does charging stop by calibration ?

BQ20Z655-R1: Communication error bqEVSW

Hi,
I was trying to flash DFI on our board while the board was powered by battery pack. But during the flashing process, I got communication error. After that the bqEVSW only shows No acknowledgement: VB_T2H_NACK. Now it cannot auto-detect the device. SBS window is blank. Reading SBS command 0D on Pro screen shows same error. But I can still measure 3.3V on REG33 and 2.5V on REG25. Is there anything I can try more or shall I assume the device is dead?

It happens every time when I try to flash without power adapter connected on the PACK± side. EV2400 and bqEVSW are fine because they work with another board.


BQ34Z100-G1: CC Gain, CC Delta.

The current is 1000mA but Current(): 0x10/0x11 report the current is 1400mA.

I have read How EVSW Display the Raw Data V1.03.pdf,and can change CC Gain between 0x7F71205C and 0.47095 correcly.

My question is :How can I use  CC Gain and CC Delta WITHOUT using Evalution Software to Calibrate the current?. Any relationship between CC Gain and CC Delta?

BQ40Z50: Discharge Termination Configuration

Hello,

I want to configure the BQ40z50 in a way that CUVC or CUV opens the FET when a defined remaining capacity is reached. The aim is to have a certain capacity reserve, which can not be accessed by the load. However it's also important to report 0% SOC before the FETs are openend, so the load can shut itself down gracefully. 

My questions:

1) I plan to use CUVC rather than CUV to define the XDSG threshold because I want the reserved capacity to be independent from the discharge current, and CUVC seems to respect the applied discharge current. Is this the best way to do it?

2) I'm not sure how to configure the "0%" threshold. The discharge termination voltage does not respect the load current. So in my view there are two possible ways: 

a) Set the discharge termination voltage to a value slightly above the point where CUVC will trigger while the max. current is flowing. --> Problem: With low currents I will have 0% reported too early.

b) Set the discharge termination voltage at "true empty cell voltage" and thus below the corresponding CUVC threshold and use "Reserved Capacity" for the desired reserve. --> Problem: The termination voltage will never be reached and FCC will never be updated, because CUVC triggers before. 

Are my assumptions correct so far? Which option would be the best one?
