BQ40Z50: Purpose of FET in Reference Schematic

Hi There,

I am developing a system using the BQ40Z50 gas gauge and I do not understand the purpose of one of the FETs in the Development Board Schematic.

I am looking at the schematic on page 17 of this document: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sluuav7b/sluuav7b.pdf

My question concerns Q4, what purpose does it serve, I can't figure it out.

Team, could I have the latest EVM schematic and layout, since it looks revised from which shown on the user guide. Also the NVM (E2PROM) revision readback looks 02 while the present 8556TM-EVM user guide shows "05", is this also revised ?

BQ34110: Use bq34110 for detect Lead-Acid battery, health and capacity remaining

Hi team,

I would like to use bq34110 in my system side to detect the health status and capacity remaining of the plug-in Lead-Acid battery. 

The system only powered by the battery set which are two 12V Lead-Acid battery in parallel. This system do not charge the battery set, once run out of battery, user just need to replace a charged battery set. So the battery set is replaceable for this system.  

The system need to report to user if the battery set is too old for using (internal resistance measurement?) and user know they need to replace a new one. 

Could you provide the detail on how to implement this function? Thanks!

- input voltage= 400 VDC

- output voltage= adjustable from 0 to 400 VDC

- output current= 1 A

- isolated

how can i do such a full range adjustable converter?

BQ24780S: the fig. about efficiency during charging

As far as I know. the higher the output voltage of the switching, the higher the efficiency.  

But as shown in the figure, the highest efficiency in the datasheet is 11.1 V.

And why is that?

BQ40Z50-R1: extra offset current ~100mA when charging if Send IT (Gauge) enable

Dear TI Experts,

My customer has designed BQ40z50-R1 in a 4S pack project. They've finished Current Calibration with 2A source, and performed Learning Cycle  and updated Status changes to 0E.

After exported golden files to other devices and do the mass production(The total quantity is 5K), something unusual happened:

1) When IT is disabled, both charging and discharging work well, current is the same as the setting.

2) When IT is enabled, ,~60% of packs(~3Kpcs) have extra offset current ~100mA when charging and relaxing, if setting 2A charging curruent, it will show ~2.1A, when stop charging and remove adaptor, it will remain the ~100mA current other than 0; however when setting to dischage mode, it works well again, and the offset current is gone; If back to charge, the ~100mA offset current back again....

They've tried below related post and the issue still exists. Could you kindly help to give some advice about this issue? Thanks a lot.

TPS659037: pin setting inquiry

Hi team,

My customer is using TPS659037 power rail.

They're wonder if they didn't connect the D8 PIN to anything, would this cause any problems to the VMAIN? According to the datasheet, this pin should be connected to VCC.

Now their input power railway to the LDOs and DCDCs are all shorted to the ground.Would this be the root cause?

Could you please help to provide some advice?

Hello,

Is LM53602 5p0V PSpice Transient Model accurate enough for system noise simulation of LM53602-Q1 supply circuit? Switching waveform at SW pin obtained through this PSPICE model looks different from an actual waveform of a real LM53602-Q1 supply circuit, which results in a large difference in switching noise performance between the actual and the simulation circuit.

If the LM53602 5p0V PSpice Transient Model is not eligible for the purpose, do you plan to release a new and more accurate transient PSPICE model?

Hi

Customer have a question about PMP9616 data.

In "Start up waveform", 1.5 A flows for 40 ms.
(As PMP 9616 FETs are used in parallel in , the current flowing through one FET is considered to be about 0.75 A.)
The customer has almost the same specification as PMP 9616, but since the ambient temperature is max 75 ° C, I am concerned whether there is a problem at startup even at that temperature.

TPS65262: How to understand the enable function of TPS65262

        How do you do?

        I have some questions about TPS65262. The following question is it.


        Number one: if MODE pin connect to GND, it will mean the enable function will depend on external device, such as MCU.Must be set as open drain output, it need have in series with resistor. Whether the resistor is needed? such as: MCU ---> resistor ---> EN pin.

        Number two: if MODE pin connect to GND, it will mean the enable function will depend on external device. i use two resistors divide by Vin(12V), whether the resistance in accordance with following formule. Or select two resistors(the resistance don`t care) to get the voltage rather than threshold of EN pin.

        Number three: if MODE pin connect to GND, and use two resistor to get voltage rather than threshold of EN pin. And the UVLO how to set if base on the following formule ? The Vstart and Vstop means...?
