LM5022: LM5022 PMP9446 Reference Design Question

Dear Team,

My customer is looking for Vin=12V and Vo=54V, Io=0.5A isolated circuit.

So I suggest PMP9446:

But the customer thinks the current transformer's cost is too high.

Can they get rid of this transformer and use a smaller resistor? ( Or you have another reference design)

I check this transformer's turn ratio is 100:1.

This transformer's only purpose is to reduce Rsense loss right?

If they want to remove this transformer, what is the resistor value they should use for Rsense?

Part Number:LP5024EVM

Hi I just bought LP5024EVM with USB2ANY. but It is not working. Can anybody help me ?

I installed LP50 GUI soft on my Toshiba Lap top computer. I connected USB for USB2ANY, LP5024EVM with +5V power. but i can not make it. So I checked USB2ANY by USB2ANY Explore Soft from TI.

It is communicated. and I did up date firmware 2.8.2.0. so USB2ANY is working ok. So I connected LP5024EVM by 10 pin Ribbon cable by following PDF manual with +5V power. but i can not make it.

I checked SDL SLC singal by Oscilloscope.  I changed parameter by LP50 GUI soft.  but no signal for Both lines. so how to check usb box and LP5024EVM board ? can anybody help ?

Part Number:TPS76901-HT

Hi,

I found a question regarding input voltage of the TPS76901-HT in the portal, however it did not have any answer.

The 125C component TPS76901 has recommended input voltage range of 2.7-10V, whereas the TPS76901-HT version has recommended input voltage range of 5-10V.

What is the difference between these components?

Can TPS76901-HT be powered by voltage lower than 5V, for example 3.5V?

Thanks!

TPS63001: Power consumption increases over time

Part Number:TPS63001

I am seeing strange behavior with a batch of TPS63001 regulators.  The PCB consists of a TI CC1310, some other low-power sensors, and the TPS63001.  The board will eventually be powered from a Li battery, but right now is being powered from a bench supply.  Expected max current 15mA during radio TX, quiescent current should be about 2mA (largely due to a power LED that is on for debugging).

Of the first batch of eight boards, 4 of the TPS63001 regulators were foo'ed: on the first power-up, they started drawing 200mA with nothing else powered on.  Using the radio, the current would jump to 215mA, but it would never go much below 200mA.  Using a FLIR, the failed regulators were red hot (over 150C).  The other 4 units functioned as expected.  There were no shorts present on the 4 defective boards, so I replaced the 4 regulators, thinking maybe they were defective.  They functioned exactly as expected.  When we were done testing, we had 8 working boards.  They all took programs, and they all ran through their initial tests.

I've been running sensor calibrations with two of the units, and noted that the quiescent power started increasing, slowly at first.  Starting two days ago, the baseline power was 5mA with peaks to 20mA during radio TX, then by the afternoon it climbed to 40mA (and 55mA peaks), and after running through the night, yesterday morning it was 100mA (115mA peaks), and by the afternoon was up at 150mA (165mA peaks), and the regulator was getting hot.  I didn't want to leave it unattended after that.

The board is relatively simple, there are three power rails - the supply rail from the battery (presently using a bench supply), the always on 3.3V regulated line, and an auxiliary line that is enabled by the MCU to turn on the sensors and is tied to the 3.3V regulated line.   I have test points on the board that allow me to directly drive the 3.3V regulated line with a bench supply and by-pass the regulator.  The quiescent power draw of the rest of the circuit is exactly as expected - 15mA peaks, 2mA for the LED when everything is asleep.

The regulator design is based on a WEBBENCH output, but I had to make some part substitutions due to availability.  The filter caps for the regulator are all rated to 50V (input voltage would never go above 4V), input is 10uF, output is a series of 3 at 10uF, 47uF, and 100uF.  The 10 and 47uF are placed nearly adjacent to the regulator, while the 100uF is placed between the regulator and the CC1310. The inductor 2.2uH is rated to 20V and 500mA and is nearly adjacent to the regulator.

There are other temperature sensitive components on the board, so we used lower temperature solder paste that reflowed at 220C, so I don't think we cooked anything.  I'm not really sure where to begin...

IC number prefixes UCC UC TL SG meaning?

Dear All,

I have two questions about IC numbers:

1) what is the meaning of prefixes, ie UCC, UC, SG, TL? ( for example SG2524 or UCC2813 )

2) what is the meaning of digits after prefixes? some ICs have for digit after the prefix and some others have five. ( eg UC28025 or UCC28950 )

LM25088: How to interface an LVTTL signal to enable the LM25088 when used to generate a negative voltage?

Part Number:LM25088

I am using an LM25088 to convert from +19V to -12V.

I would like to be able to control the enable of the LM25088.

But, since the part is reference to -12V instead of GND, I don't think that a 3.3V signal can drive the enable signal directly.

How can I interface a 3.3V signal to enable the LM25088 when used to generate a negative voltage?

The circuit is shown below.

Hi,

customer use LM5069-2 for power protection, the spec is below:

input voltage :48V to 57V

UVLO:48V;

OVLO:57V

Power limit:80W

Current limit:3A

the schematic as below show: note that the ULVO and OVLO resistor have been add and current sense resistor is 0.02R and R1109.

customer issue is that the MOSFET is still on when the current reach to 3.5A, the current maintaining time is about 2mins.

could you help on it. thanks?

Part Number:BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

I'm trying to program the fuel gauge with the golden image using the microcontroller on the i2c bus rather than using battery management studio.

Our bq.fs file is 180k in length, with lines of hex typically having 100 bytes of hex characters per line (this was generated by bq studio)

I have several questions with this format and the example code shown in slua801.pdf.

1) Is the i2c address changed from 0xAA to 0x16 normal when going into ROM mode?

2) The gauge.c parser will fail at the point indicated below as the parser expects a maximum line length of 32 data bytes, pData is an array of 32 bytes. Is the solution just a case of expanding the size of the buffer to allow for the longest line length (increase pData to 100+ bytes?), or is there other work that is required.

pFS++;

n = 0;

while ( ( pEnd - pFS > 2 ) && ( n < sizeof(pData) + 2 )&& ( *pFS != '\n' ) )
{
pBuf[0] = *(pFS++);
pBuf[1] = *(pFS++);
pBuf[2] = 0;

TPS54232: Damaging with a +15V Input voltage

$

Part Number:TPS54232

Hi,

I am designing a project that uses a TPS54232 to convert a 12V to 24V input to 5V output

My circuit(first image) was based on a TI SwitchPro circuit.

The problem is that TPS54232 is not handling voltages over 15V. I have destroyed 3 ICs by now.

At first I thought it was due to an input voltage spike coming out of my bench power supply.

However, I tried increasing my input voltage gradually, starting at 12V, while keeping an eye on the IC output.

Up to 14V the converter worked fine but when the input reached 15V the IC died (This happened twice!).

Maybe the problem is in my PCB design, but I am not sure where I went wrong. (see image below)

(OBS1: I omitted the ground plane to make it easier to see.)

(OBS2: Q1, and R1 are not populated. J1 is a jumper linking the input to TPS)

Is there something I am missing? The TPS54232 should work with Inputs going from 3.5V to 28V,

and circuit is exactly like the one I got from SwitchPro Desktop.

I am pretty sure I made some silly mistake here, I just cannot see where.

Part Number:LMZM23600

Part # LMZM23600 has a maximum Input to Output differential voltage specification of 36 volts.

I have an application were my input voltage will be + 24 output would be -12.

My concern is operating this device near its maximum voltage differential specification.

What is the limitation of this specification.  Is it a power dissipation  issue or is it purely voltage.

In other words can I operate this device at a lower current and allow me to have a higher voltage differential.

I installed the latest version of BQStudio and found BQ25713 charger. I connected EV2400 to BQ25713 but I got "Device ACK Error". I think EV2400 does not recognize the BQ25713-evm. Do you know what is the reason of this error? Could you help me how I can solve this problem? I have attached photos about connections and screenshot.

Thanks.

Part Number:UCC28600

Hello,

Is it possible to obtain an unlocked version of the SLVC104 Excel calculator for UCC28600?

The issue that I am facing, and the reason of this request, is that the turns ratio and other calculated values cannot be adjusted by the user. For example I cannot input a real value for R_CS, R_OVP1 of R_OVP2. Also I cannot see where to input the real value of L_p or the actual turns ratio for the used transformer.

Part Number:BQ40Z50-R2

Hello,

I have an ongoing discussion regarding BQ40z50-R2 using BQStudio. A few questions popped up when discussing this:

Under the tab: "Advance Charge Algorithm" ( in BGStudio ) there is a square which says "Voltage", is this nominal or "open-circuit voltage"? Next up, it is possible to activate cell balancing in the GUI, can you see in the GUI if cell balancing is being processed? My last question, is it possible to charge and discharge BQ40z50 at the same time?

With Regards & thanks for your time,
Kristoffer

TPS62000: Why the long leads?

$

Part Number:TPS62000

Hello,

I am looking into using a high temperature board design using the TPS62000SHKK. I noticed that the footprint has very long leads. I am wondering what the purpose is for this. In a buck regulator, we normally want to minimize the areas of the hot loops, so will want to place the components as close to the pins as possible. However, the pins extend out very far. So the question is why are the pins so long, and what are the recommendations for this layout-wise?

Thanks!
