LMR14010A: 96% duty for 24Vin

Hi team,

The customer would like to use this device with Vin=24V and Vout=9~19V at 96% duty, but can the device be surely used at 96% duty for 24Vin? The datasheet is saying the Dmax is 96%(typ), so I think the 96% duty for 24VIn has no problem considering a drop of Ron, but I would like to double-check it with you.

TL494: About setting maximum duty cycle of DTC

Hello,

Regarding to dead-time control(DTC) on TL494, my customer is asking a question. 

They will set maximum duty cycle of DTC with following schematic.


 

(Question)

 

According to datasheet, DTC characteristics is following.


This meaning is that:

linear control of duty cycle of DTC from its minimum of 0% to 45% as the input voltage(DTC) is varied from 3.3V to 0 V, respectively.

 

My understanding is correct? Is it possible to calculate its DTC duty cycle by calculation formula?

Or do you have a data(DTC duty cycle vs DTC input)?

I am evaluating TPS65381A-Q1.

I made software and confirm. 

At that time, error Flags (VCP17_OV, VCP12_OV, AVDD_VMON_ERR and BG_ERR1) were detected when power was up.

(1) Are there possibility to occur with some condition at startup?

(2) If these errors are written to the resister, when does the device diagnose.

LP8556 Support team

When I confirmed the default configuration data of LP8556-E09 on LP8556SQEVM, I noticed that default data is different from the data in datasheet. And also, GUI tool changed Address:0xA0 to the correct data.

The below is EPROM data(Address A0 to AF) before and after GUI start-up.

    Before : D1 CF 2F 02 72 04 80 F6 04 A0 0F 00 00 00 0F 01

    After : FF CF 2F 02 72 04 80 F6 04 A0 0F 00 00 00 0F 01

The below is a part of the WRITE processing by GUI tool.

   

Why does GUI tool re-write the EPROM?

Will it take effect immediately after re-writing the EPROM? Or, is there additional processing required?

LM3409: Delay between PGATE output and enable input

Hi all,

In a design, I'm using the LN3409QMY as a LED driver. 
The LED driver is driven by the enable pin. I noticed that when the IC package reaches 40 degrees, a delay of 300us is introduced between the enable signal and the PGATE output(below 40 degrees the delay is  less then 50us).

This delay is unwanted because this way not all the required energy can go through the LED's.

If there a way to reduce this delay?

      I want to know the exact time when the POR happens and set the defaulted values if powered up from DC source.

      I noticed in part 9.3.3 of datasheet that the converter powers up 150ms after Vbus>VVbus_CONVEN. Is that the time when POR takes place?

BQ24210: Datasheet "equation 3" clarifications

Hi team, 

I spent some time studying the data sheet for  the temperature control  module bq24210 but I couldn't figure out some things about the equation marked as equation 3 as shown below. 

Firstly, what is the meaning of the variable marked as V_V45C?  If I'm looking at it correctly, the equation is dimensionally incorrect, a resistance cannot be subtracted from the reciprocal of a current. 

Second, the equation assumes an NTC thermistor which have a negative temperature coefficient, can this work with a thermistor type with positive temperature coefficient? 

P.S. The spelling of thermistor should be revised in the data sheet.

Hello

Is there any current limit device to implement this function: if output current exceeds setted current limit, this device will shut down immediately; not like TPS25921 has two distinct overcurrent protection levels: the current limit (ILIMIT) and the fast-trip threshold (I(FASTRIP)) , only exceeds fast-trip it will be shut down immidiately

BQ24161: Unstable Charging Current State of BQ24161

When I use BQ24161 to set charging current above 1A, I will encounter unstable charging current, sometimes normal current, but most of the time is about 500 mA, using a single cell of 4.2V/2000 mA, using USB and external DC9V power supply, battery voltage has been charging at 500MA from 3.5 to 3.8V, charging from 0V to 3.3V is normal. How to deal with it?

In addition, can the output of SYS voltage be constant when charging? What's found now is that it changes with the voltage of the battery?

Hi,

I have recently performed relax-charge-relax-discharge cycle with my 450mAh LiCoO2 battery (4.2V max voltage) using BQ27421-G1A EVM and uploaded the log on GPCCHEM

Report given best chem ID matching with my battery as 3136 with a max deviation of 1.65%. Apart from that report also given below values

I have some queries based on the report

1. What is the significance of max DOD error% ?

2. What will be the inaccuracy in the SOC reported by the BQ27421-G1A gauge with my 450mAh battery in the filed ?

3. Why max DOD error% is less with G1D & G1C compared to G1A when my battery is supporting max voltage of 4.2V ?

4. What is the importance of Temperature values in the log file to GPCCHEM tool. Will it impact max DOD error% ?

LM2623: device getting hot when current limit is below 1.8A

Team,

We have a problem with LM2623: When power supply has a current limit less than 1,8A (5V at VDD) the converter doesn't start and IC is heating up to the point that it gets burned.

When power supply has a current limit over 1,8A (for example 2A), converter starts and is working correctly.

Here is my schematic:

I am afraid that in some cases when current limit is not big enough, this will cause damage of IC  (have confirmed one case).

Please note that my converter converts 5V to ~9,3V, and average power consumption  is less than 100mA.  In Peak (100ms) <1A  max.

Can you please advise what to do?

TPS54160: Frequency Compensation Component Selection

Hi,

I am Using TPS54160 Ic for Vout= 5V , Input voltage is = 24V and outptu current = 1A

I have simulated the design in WEBENCH and working good. but i want to calculate manually the values for Frequency compensation components.

Till calculating the Crossover frequency Fc, results were oK, but i stuck at calculating the value of gain of Modulator(Gmod) at Crossover frequency.

As per the datasheet TPS54160, the value of Error amplifier transconductance (gm) is 97μMhos, but using this results are not oK.

Also in formula of Gmod it is mentioned as gm(ps), what's the ps means ??? Or do i have to convert the given gm value in different form ??

UCC28511: Two transistor forward converter

Dear all,

I am designing PFC and two transistor forward converter with UCC28511 controller. PFC works well, but I have problem with forward converter. When I remove MOSFETs, gate signals are present, but when i put MOSFETs back on PCB, there is no any signal on gate of forward converter. I am driving these MOSFETs with pulse transformer and FAN3122 controller. Do you have any idea what am I doing wrong?
