BQ40Z80: When is BQ40z80 in mass production?

TPS53318: the noise of TPS53318 when FCC/SRRC RE certification

Background

The TPS53318 in Customer’s Main-board, and the TPS53318 output a power supply (4.2V) to Main-borad.

In the RE certification process of FCC/SRRC, at 100MHz-500MHz, some noise be detected in main-board, and so, the certification failed.

Debug

1, Noise can be detected in all the parts of main-board. And on the right above of TPS53318, The strongest noise be detected, the difference is about 20dB. So customer suspect TPS53318 is the source of noise.

2, Replace TPS53318 by DC-power directly, the noise disappeared.

3, the customer tested FCCM and Skip mode separately, The noise situation is the same.

Hello, how do you do ?

This's an engineer from Vtech. We are using your BQ2000SN-B5TR charging IC with 1A charging current to charge a NiMH 7.2V 4000mAh rechargeable battery. To meet the CEC and DoE USA energy saving type approval requirement, we want to disable the top-off trickle charge to save the charging energy.

However, after changed CMTO capacitor value to less than 0.07uF by using 0.047uF for CMTO and 180k for RMTO to set 5.3 hours maximum charging time, trickle charge was still activated frequently when the battery reached full level after fast charging.

Would you please tell us how to change the circuit values to get below result ?

- Battery is connected to the output of charging circuit.
- Provides DC power to charging circuit.
- Charging IC starts charging by fast charge.
- Battery is charged to full level with temperature rise.
- Charging IC detects delta voltage and temperature rise, then stop all charging.
- Charging IC keeps STOP all charging until battery is reconnected or DC power reset.

BQ24650: Power from mains/wall adapter

Hi

Our company have already designed equipment with solar charger for a 12V SLA battery using the BQ24650 and 18V solar panel.

We have set the MPPT to 17.2V, and set the charge current to 1A using a 0.04ohm resistor between SRP and SRN.

One of our customer didn't want to use the solar panel, because he's got mains/wall power next to the equipment.

So my question is if we supply a 2A 18V or 24V DC power supply, the MPPT shouldn't be able to pull the voltage down to 17.2V right? 

And also when battery is full, MPPT wouldn't try to get more current than the battery needs correct?

hello ti,

actually my task is to read the high currents i.e above 10a to 100a . so we removed the 10m ohm smd type shunt resistor and replaced 10 mohm shunt type of  bus bar which with stand upto 100A .

So i applied the charging current of 0.16Amp to battery , but in bqstudio software it showing 2.6 A  . what is mistake we doing ? or any modifications to do in register settings .

Design power circuit for 10W Solar panel

Dear Ti,

i have a 12V/10W (600ma- Short circuit maximum current) solar panel for power up my cc3220 customized board with hx711 for weighing scale. i want to design just power circuit for power up my modules when solar give some output. and shutdown the module when solar energy is disappear. i was already complete this design with LM317 regulator. but i want complete this same design with another best regulator for get better result for my need. anybody can please suggest any other regulators for my design.

Note: i don't use battery for power backup, i just power up my module when solar energy is appear there and shutdown the module when solar energy is disappear there.

BQ24610: ADCRV Pin is abnormal when extermal power source is at a transition voltage level

•Dear experts, please refer to below figure(CH1 is PG pin, CH2 is STAT1 pin, CH4 is ACDRV Pin of bq24610). When external power source's voltage drop, the ACDRV and PG Pin begin to oscillate. At this time, the STAT1 Pin of bq24610 is still turned on( It means that Charge in progress). Because my external power source is Li-iron battery, It's voltage is not constant. If it's voltage is at some transition voltage level(It is related to load's battery voltage), It will cause some issues. So, I want to use PG Pin of bq24610 to detect this phenomenon. When the MCU detects the PG Pin to enter oscillate state, MCU will turn off the CE pin of bq24610. I want to use this method to avoid bq24610 enter abnormal state. Please give me some opinion about this design. Thanks.

Dear TI expert,

I would like to ask about the mosfet driver in tidu370 which is driving 64x64 pixel LED matrix. There are 32 numbers of Dual P-channel MOSFET being used where they represent 64 lines of the display. I would like to ask if this number can be halved, 16 numbers of Dual P-channel MOSFET only, where a single channel mosfet drive 2 lines of display. I saw that the rated current for the mosfet (APM4953) is 30A, I think this is sufficient because when considering full brightness : 19 mA x 16 channels x 8 ICs = 2.432A. Thank you.

TPS2546: Timing interval between EN asserts and USB2 communication

Dear Team,

I would like to know is there any timing spec which is relative to EN pin and USB2 communication.

Once EN pin asserts, when will USB host starts to do the USB2 communication with device? 

I think all the steps should be:

Step1: EN pin asserts

Step2: TPS2546 handle BC1.2 protocol to advertise SDP/CDP/DCP

Step3: After BC1.2, USB host starts to communicate with USB device

So do you know the timing between Step1 and Step3?

EMB1499Q: Ringing on discharge startup

Hello,

I am currently working with custom 12s active-cell balancing board. Balancing circuitry is made of two identical half-stacks (6s + 6s) based on EMB1428Q + EMB1499Q Chipset. Circuit was made according to TI's Active Chipset Reference Design. Th energy exchange is made between cell and the whole stack.

Both EMB1428Q in design successfully accepts SPI commands and charges-discharges selected cells. However during startup of discharge in lower half-stack a significant ringing occurs in both on both sides of converter: on stack side and on floating side (connected to the cell). The ringing can be seen on the attached graph below:

CH3 (purple) probe connected to PLUS_BOT (positive cell terminal)

CH4 (green) connected to MINUS_BOT (negative cell terminal)

MATH (red) is cell voltage between MINUS_BOT and PLUS_BOT (CH3-CH4)

As it can be seen, first of all negative cell terminal is connected (time at Cursor 1). Then after 156 us positive cell terminal is connected. And when converter turns on huge voltage swing can be seen. As I mentioned before, this behavior is observed when cell is discharged, and only in the bottom side of the stack. And it does not depend on which cell is selected.

Cell current is set to 1 A: Rsense is 0.01 Ohm and Vset is 400mV.

Which part of the circuit can be the source of this problem?

UCCx8C43 Unencrypted PSpice Transient Model (date 18 Feb 2016) does not work and may contain errors.

For instance voltage source V3 in the path of VREF does not have a specified voltage (V3 13 10).

We have bee running Tina simulations but we do need to run other spice based simulations.

Could you please provide us a better unencrypted model?

Hi,

I am currrently working on a 6 series battery management system  using 2 BQ77904 in series. Each device has 3 cells and LD pins are connected to the GND with 470k Ohm Resistor and Diode. When the battery has overcurrent fault, it is not enough to switch off the load to remove overcurrent fault. Battery doesn't work properly until I remove the load cable

Please give me an advice. Thanks.
