BQ25570: Unable to leave cold start.

Part Number:BQ25570

I have a fairly standard setup.

CIN= 4.7uF

CSTOR= 0.01 μF and 10uF. No loads.

VBAT = 1AH li-ion (Charged and connected)

L1 Boost = 22 μH = (Recommended 744031220)

Solar input is panel SLMD121H09L. Peak 200mW @ 4.5V

But I can not get the chip to leave cold start with only the solar panel attached... Vin gets clamped to 1.00V and CSTOR rises to 700mV but no further...

I CAN get the chip to start if I spike the vin with USB5V but that cant happen in the field.

Is my solar panel not strong enough for cold start? Can I help it along somehow?

BQ24297: Capacitor and Inductor Selections

Part Number:BQ24297

In regards to the values of the required capacitors and inductor, is there a range of values and/or equations to calculate values for this part?

Specifically:

  1. Can the bootstrap capacitor (SW to BTST) be any value other than 0.047uF?  Like 1uF?
  2. Can the REGN capacitor (REGN to analog GND) be any value other than 4.7uF?  Like 10uF?
  3. Can the VBUS capacitor be larger than 1uF? Like 10uF?
  4. Can the inductor be 4.7uH if sized properly according to 10.2.2.1 Inductor Selection in the datasheet and according to the following excerpt under 10.2.2.3?

The charger device has internal loop compensator. To get good loop stability, the resonant frequency of the
output inductor and output capacitor should be designed between 15 kHz and 36 kHz. The preferred ceramic
capacitor is 6 V or higher rating, X7R or X5R.

Hi Team,

My customer is interested in the TPS2021. Do we have the timing for tSET as defined in Figure 12 of the datasheet?

I see the tON having a 20ms max, however the customer is interested in the tSET of the device. In their system, there is a requirement for delay before Vout is powered.

Part Number:UCC256301

Hi,

I am considering using the UCC256301 device.
Within that, I would like to ask you questions about the behavior of the device when it detects an anomaly.

If you look at the item 7.4.5 in the data sheet, it is stated that if an abnormal condition occurs, there are two ways of operation stopping or restarting.
How can you distinguish these two behaviors?
Which is the behavior of OVP, OTP, OCP1, OCP2, OCP3?

Part Number:BQ51050B

Currently, I use BQ51050B as the receiver for wireless charging, but now I have a problem that I cannot solve. Each charging process will be interrupted, and the transmitter failure indicator lights up, and can not be restored. According to RLIM, the charging current is set to about 1A.

My battery capacity is 1800 mah, Everything was fine when you started charging, When the battery voltage rises to about 3.7V, current 800 ma, Transmitter Failure Light on, and has no automatic recovery,The coil can only be removed from the transmitter and placed again on the transmitter to continue charging to 4.2V (or occasionally stop charging).I don't know what reason is this, below is the failure, VRECT voltage (yellow). At present, the coil I use is TDK wr483265-15f5-g 13.3uH. The transmitter is samsung ep-pn920. I really hope to get help.

Normal charging (VRECT)

abnormal VRECT

Total stop VRECT

What is the cause of this?

Please help me find out the problem as soon as possible.

thanks

UC1846: Gate skipping operation of UC1846

Part Number:UC1846

Hi,

I have a poorly designed flyback converter which operates with gate skipping at low loads. As per my understanding of the IC's operation, gate pulses should occur at even multiples of the oscillator/clock pulses. However, I see gate pulses at 3rd/5th distance from the first clock pulse. Is this a problem with the converter. If yes, please explain the IC internal function which lead to this mode of operation.

Thanks

TLV758P: VDO under Vout=4.8V with 100mA output

$

Part Number:TLV758P

Hi team,

My customer is evaluating our TLV758P. The target output is 4.8V. But the minimum input can be dropped to 4.75V so they want to check the Vdo under 4.75V input and 4.8V target output. The load current is 100mA or 500mA.

I checked our datasheet that the maximum Vdo with 500mA Iout is 115mV for this use case. But I just want to check with you if we have the Vdo data for 100mA Iout condition.

I think it should be calculated as 115mV/500mA*100mA=23mV. But I am curious that if it is just a linear relation between Vdo and Iout, why Vdo is also related to the different Vout range according to TLV758P datasheet? Thanks.

Best regards,

Wayne

WEBENCH® Tools/TPS61178: We used TPS611781 to design a boost converter once the input voltage exceeds 10.5V, the output voltage will exceed 16V.

Part Number:TPS61178

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Sir,

We used TPS611781 to design a boost converter, the information as below:

Input : 8~14V (power supply)

Output: 16V, Peak 3A

Load: DC Electronic Load

The problem we encountered was that the input voltage was stable at 16V with an input voltage below 10.5V, once the input voltage exceeds 10.5V, the output voltage will exceed 16V.

For example,

without load:

Input 11.6V: Output 17.7 V

Input 12.5V: Output 18.8 V

with load(CC mode)

Input 11.6V: Output 16.1 V (0.8A)

Input 12.5V: Output 17.7 V (1A)

The FB voltage waveform seems normal.(without load)

Ch2: Output voltage

Ch3: VFB

Any suggestions for us to find out the issue? Thx~

UCC28634: How to use the double power function of UCC28634?

$

Part Number:UCC28634

From the datasheet of UCC28634:"The peak power mode allows transient peak power delivery up to 200% of nominal rating, with only a 25% peak current increase, maximizing transformer utilization" .we can know the UCC28634 has double power function.

When UCC28634 go into double power, the switch frequency can greater than 60KHz,the Vcs is between 0.64V and 0.8V.

So i make a experiment:the output voltage of load is 27V.I make the current of load change from 1A to 9A.The 9A duration time is 0.2S.The 1A duration time is 1.8S.In the other word, the period is 2S,and the duty is 10%.I can get the following waveforms:

The green waveform is current of main winding. The blue waveform is voltage of output.we can see the voltage of output can be hold on when the current of load change to 9A.And the switch frequency can greater than 60KHz.So i can sure the ucc28634 went into the double power region.

Then I increase the load,I change 9A to 10A.I can get the following waveforms:

The voltage of ouput is drop down. And the switch frequency don`t increase. So i don`t know why?

In my opinion, the Vcs and the switch frequency will increase when the load increase in the double power region. But the adjustment speed of ucc28634 seems too slow, led the voltage of output drop down.

here is my schematic:

Thanks.

Boost converter design control IC selection

hello,

I want to design a single switch non-isolated boost converter which should work on single phase rectified ac, as well as three-phase, rectified ac. When an input voltage is 1-phase 200VAC to 320VAC output voltage should be 475VDC with Iout-12.5A and when the input voltage is in between 320VAC to 500VAC then output voltage should be 750VDC with Iout-12.5A. similarly When an input voltage is 3-phase 200VAC to 320VAC output voltage should be 475VDC with Iout-23A and when the input voltage is in between 320VAC to 500VAC then output voltage should be 750VDC with Iout-23A. which control IC you would suggest for my application?

I am thinking of ucc3854 but not sure whether it will work or not with three-phase rectified ac input.

TPS5450: Output fixed at 0.5V

Part Number:TPS5450

Hello! I used WEBENCH to design a buck converter that would take a 24VDC input in order to drop it down to 5VDC. After putting it together on a PCB and powering it on, I noticed the circuit was giving me a fixed output of 0.5V. I tried assembling another one on a different PCB, and had the same trouble.

Here is my schematic:

And here is my PCB layout (Upper left: View in 3D viewer; Upper right = front copper; Lower left: back copper)

As you may have noticed, the layout isn't up to spec with the datasheet (forgot to look there first) and I was wondering: does this warrant a PCB redesign?

Here's a list of things that I have tried:

- Soldering the input capacitors directly on pins 6 (GND) and 7 (VIN) (this made the circuit generate 0.5V instead of shorting 24V to 0V)

- Putting a 10K potentiometer instead of R6 and made the resistance vary (this made our 0.5V shift to about 0.49V at 10K ohms and 0.51V at 0 ohms)

- Verifying that R5 is indeed 10K ohms

Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Gabriel

Part Number:TPS2549

Hi Team,

When TPS2549 is set in CDP mode, after CDP handshaking (after CDP detection circuit outputs ~0.6V on D- line), what condition will connection between the CDP detection circuit and D- data line?
 - The CDP detection circuit output is still connected with the D- data line, but output of the CDP detection circuit becomes Hi-Z?
 - There is a switch between the CDP detection circuit output and the D- data line, and the switch becomes off after the CDP handshaking?

Thank you.

Part Number:TPS2549

Hi Team,

When TPS2549 is set in DCP-Auto mode, when connector (portable equipment) is disconnected during DCP operation, how does the TPS2549 detect that disconnect condition?
 - TPS2549 does not care the disconnect condition?
 - TPS2549 detects some condition and becomes ready condition for next connection?
I would like to understand the operation of TPS2549 at the connector (portable equipment) disconnect condition during DCP operation in the DCP-Auto mode setting.
Thank you.
