UCC25600: How to design aux supply for fast startup

Part Number:UCC25600

Hi guys,

My customer wants to use UCC25600, and is confused about how exactly to design the aux bias supply. (they need fast startup)

Do we have any documentation that elaborates on how to design that circuit? I see them all over the place in EVMs and such, but no explanation on design considerations.

Thanks,

Brian

BQ24230: Charge Current Higher than expected

Part Number:BQ24230

Hi,

Im using a bq24230 in my design.

Riset = 2k94

Riterm = 2k94

Rilim = NC

EN1 and EN2 are set to USB500 mode

According to the datasheet my battery charging current should be limited to 296mA at nominal Kiset to a maximum of 330mA at the highest Kiset.

In CC mode I am charging at around a rate of 370mA and I haven't been able to explain why. the charger appears to be functioning properly.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue to this?

Thanks,

Luke

Iwoudl liekto ask the follwing questions:

From VIN =5V, Configuration "CombinedNegativeVoltageConversionandPositiveSupplyDoubling" dtasheet page 13 Figure 10

1) Is correct to assume in this configuration  Vout+ = 10, Vout-=-10V ?

2) In the figure 10   -V= –(nV – Vdx) seems if VIN=5V , in this configuration -Vout = 5V ? IS correct ?

3) IS question 2 is corrrectassumption , the only way to have from  VOUT+ =10V, Vout-=-10V  from VIN = 5V , is to have two part in cascade ?

Part Number:TPS51200

Team,

Can you help with the below:

How much current should I expect on VLDOIN and VO pins of the TPS51200-EP for via sizing. If I were to use the TPS51200-EP in a DDR3L application with 5 DDR3L chips, roughly what amount of current could I expect on the VLDOIN and VO pins?

Hi TI's experts!

This is Wenhao. It is really confusing to get how to correctly converse temperature linear format into decimal, since datasheet description is really vague. Could you please give an example of that? Appreciate your help!

Thanks!

TPS61021A: Startup problem with a load is connected

Part Number:TPS61021A

Hello,

I am testing a design with the TPS61021A.

Input voltage is 0.9V to 1.8V

Output voltage is 2.2V

Output current is 100 mA

I have a design pretty similar to the webench attached. I have more capacitor on the input.

Inductor is the datasheet recommended from Coilcraft.

When I apply the power between 0.9V to 1.8V, with my small load connected (Resistor for 100mA current), the output voltage stays at around 0.7 V.

If I remove the load, the output goes at 2.2V.

What could be the problem ?  What needs to be checked first ?

Could it be the enable attached directly to Vin ?

Thanks !

LM5088: Compensation in Current Mode SMPS

Part Number:LM5088

Hello,

I am trying to use the LM5088 in a project of mine. And this led to me read a bit more about current mode control in SMPS. Thus, my question pertains to current mode SMPS in general. I was reading this application note from TI for more information on Current Mode control

https://www.ti.com/seclit/ml/slup340/slup340.pdf

I have a few questions in this regard

1. Figure 16 shows the schematic of the current mode Buck. As per the schematic, you are using the inductor current to generate the PWM ramp. However, it seems you are using the load current in this ramp generaton as well. This means that the ramp generation is load current dependent. This means that the duty cycle will have a large load current dependency. This does not look correct. Can you please clarify if this is indeed so?

2. Secondly, in the same Figure 16, you show an external ramp in order to prevent subharmonic oscillations. Is this external ramp related to the inductor current ramp in anyway or is it completely independent? If it is completely independent, then surely it is interfering with the natural feedback mechanism of the loop and reducing the effectiveness of sampling the inductor current. Can you please clarify if this external ramp actually reduces the stability of the loop?

3. Finally, you talk about poles and zeros transfer functions in equations 22-26. Can you please clarify if these poles and zeros are closed loop poles and zeros or whether they are open loop poles and zeros?

Thanking You

Sanjay

BQ27426: Right offset and Value for Trace Resistance

Part Number:BQ27426

Hello,

Which is the right offset that should be used for Trace Resistance?

I have tried with the two provided by the datasheet (75 and 92) but the default vaue was wrong. I got 0x023F when using 75 and 0x6300 when using 92.

Regarding the value, the trace resistance in my device is 827 mOhm. Should I then set the register to 207 as explianed in this post (https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/t/616622

TPS7A78: SCIN voltage calculation

Part Number:TPS7A78

Hi team,

On the datasheet of TPS7A78, section 7.3.7, I found that the Vscin=4*(Vldo+0.6V)-2.5V, so the Vscin should be around 20V.

But according to the block diagram, SCIN should be the output of half bridge/full bridge rectified voltage from AC input.

If I put a 220VAC/50Hz AC input voltage on AC PIN, what's the Vscin voltage?

Could you please help to provide some calculation for this?

Thanks a lot.

Part Number:TLV757P

Hello,

one of my customer is  using LDC TLV75733 to supply wifi-module which require  600mA and 3.3 v input but LDO current capacity is only 500mA. so they want to supply this additional 100 mA from capacitor which i shown in below block diagram.

so my question is for meeting above current demand what should be the capacitor value?.it is given wifi-module will  be off when voltage dip to 2.8V

UCC28740: SIMPIS UCC28740 SIMULATION NOT WORKING

$

Part Number:UCC28740

Hello  ,
I'm designing a power supply using ucc28740 so I'm using the UCC28740_TRANS_SIMPLIS example circuit file of with 200V input and 5V @ 2A output. I'm facing an issue if I copy UCC28740 and paste in a new simplis schematic than I face the following error.

<<<<<<<< Error Message ID: 1023 >>>>>>>>

input file C:/Users/DELL/Desktop/SIMPLIS_Data/0.deck, line 63:

X$U1 22 0 25 29 26 24 11 UCC28740

Unable to locate the definition

of 'subcircuit UCC28740' in the

input, include, or library file(s).

On SIMetrix/SIMPLIS , Version : 8.20h

*** END SIMPLIS ERROR REPORT ***

On the other hand if I edit the attached example circuit to use ucc28740 to design my own switch mode power supply to get 230V input and 40V @ 1.2 A output to design my required switch mode power supply than the circuit is not working. It is also mentioned in the example circuit of simplis that

1. The UCC28740 SIMPLIS Transient Model is encrypted and runs only in SIMPLIS versions 7.2d and above.

2. The testbench has been configured to show the Startup for VIN=200V,VOUT=5V , 10W, Iout of 2A

3. Please refer to datasheet for operating range.

4. All transients can be applied after the output voltage reaches steady-state.

so I just wanna know that the attached design example file test bench only work for this specific range of VIN= 200V , VOUT=5V,10W, Iout=2A or can I manipulate by using ucc28740 in a different design challenge ? If there is a specific range than how can I change the range of this test bench to design my power supply using UCC28740?

Thank you

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hello:

I found ADC sampling_sel can choose different speed .

But in the manual it suggest setting the speed as  267K. Now I want to get the more faster speed want use 538Ks/s or 1008Ks/s.

can I set the  register to 5 or 4? and  Using  more faster sampling speed,is possible  to affect my project ? Such the affect  interrupt event or other  function.

Or What should i consider in the project ,when i use more faster ADC sampling speed? Have any suggestion to set ADC sampling speed?

Thankyou very much!
