BQ27GDK000EVM: Fast charge current higher than what's set in bqSTudio

Part Number:BQ27GDK000EVM

Hello,

We are checking the discharge and charge current values when using the GDK and bqStudio but the numbers that we are getting for charge does not match to the fast charge current we set.

The following is what we did before doing the testing (we are using a BQ27520EVM by the way):

- We updated both GDK version and EV2400 firmware (v0.18).

- We are using bQStudio v1.3.54.1

- We connect the battery and its thermister to the BQ27520EVM and connected the LOAD and i2c lines between the GDK and BQ2750WEVM.

- We launch BQStudio and it recognizes the GDK and external gauge.

- We have answered the Q&A questions and calibrated the BQ2750EVM using bqStudio

If we set the following in discharge manual mode, we get the right current in the gauge's registers (bottom of the dashboard) and my multimeter:

Constant Current = 55 mA

Discharge Cutoff/ Termination Voltage = 3000 mV

But if we set the following in charge manual mode,

Charge Current = 275 mA

Charge Voltage = 4200 mV

Taper Current = 50 mA.

The multimeter and both current registers (GDK's and gauge's) give 321 mA. The current battery voltage is 3918 mV.

If we set the charge current to 229 mA we then get something around 275 mA.

Are we expected to do this? What can be wrong?

The problem
