BQ2000: MOSFET selection based on reference schematic.

I am using the bq2000evm evaluation module which I tested and appears to work fine for my application.

Since the Si3455DV appears to be limited in supply and I want so sub in a different p-channel MOSFET.

Can someone explains how to adjust the components in the schematic so that I can use a different MOSFET (or point me to the documentation that explains the process)?

I tested with the alternative MOSFET on the sample BQ2000evm board and the LED indication blinks when no battery is connected and stays lit when the battery is connected but never fully charges. 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
