I have a question regarding distance from the gas gauge IC to the SMBus communication receiver.
Our customer is questioning whether the communications protocol is sufficiently robust to handle a connection cable of approximately 200mm between the battery pack and their utilizing equipment. Their engineer has noticed the SBS spec's limit of 400pF bus capacitance, and is concerned that there may be a problem with the communications due to this length.
We are using the bq20z655-R1 GG/AFE chip. Note that we have not had any problems in the past with other customers when using the bq20z90 GG/bq29330 AFE chipset at a distance of over 300mm (the length of cable supplied with the EV2300 adapter).
Is there any problem with using the bq20z655-R1 over this distance?
