BQ2060 will not sync

I am very new to gas gauge operation, and I having some difficulty with the BQ2060. The system in question has never worked properly, and was designed (not by me) with a "dumb" charger, and the battery has no communications with any external devices except to send remaining capacity status. A new GG file was produced by the Protection Circuit manufacturer because the Design Capacity was originally set to 6000 where it should have been 9000. It was expected that this change would correct the sync problems that users were experiencing.

Please see the attached log file from the first cycle after the new GG file was written to the EEPROM, and the board was calibrated. My battery analyzing station is "dumb", but the log file matches the station reporting of capacity/voltage/current readings until discharge reaches 3316 remaining.

  • At the next poll, the remaining capacity drops suddenly to 612, while the voltage and current continue to log
  • After 8 minutes, the remaining capacity “freezes” at 281 while current and voltage continue to log
  • After 20 more minutes, remaining capacity starts logging again, until it reaches Zero, well before the pack is depleted.

I have also attached the GG file - is there something that is set incorrectly? Not that a subsequent cycle yields much the same results...

Thanks for any insight that can be provided.
