BQ76940: XREADY Fault on wakeup

Part Number:BQ76940

Hey hi ,

I am continuously getting XREADY Fault on my board , and I know the reason that voltage across CAP3-VC10X is not 3.3V.

But don't know why this is so , CAP2 and CAP1 voltages with respect to their references are proper 3.3V.

I searched for this problem and according to all the discussed solutions , my rest of the connections are correct :

1. TS1 , TS2 and TS3 are connected with 10K Thermistor and are properly connected to their respective references with 4700pF CAP.

2. BQ76940 is not damaged , since I replaced with new one and also tried on different board with different part.

3. No individual cell is in Overvoltage or in Undervolatge.

4. BAT-VC10X voltage is 10.42V.

5. Properly soldered all CAP1 , CAP2 , CAP3 [Checked several times by Multimeter Continuity Test]

6. Even though I had cleared the fault from Host side , still BQ76940 continuously gives the same fault.

Please suggest me the several debugging possible methods to know what exactly the problem is.

Part Number:BQ2012

Dear friend

I  use  bq2012 in my project (NIMH  6S1P),  By  EV2300,  I write the RST register (39h)  content (00). But the LMD did not reset to PFC.  I have to disconnect the cell to reset the LMD.

when we produced the same product in 2018, I remember it can soft reset the LMD.  if  there are  different version for bq2012 ?

Thanks

TPS2378: Class 4 minimum power requirement

$

Part Number:TPS2378

According to table 1 of the TPS2378 datasheet, the class 4 minimum power requirement is 12.95W. We have an application that "switches" between low-power (~5W) and high-power modes (~15W). As a result, we may not meet the minimum power requirements for a class 4 powered device at all times. We're not very familiar with the PoE standard - what effect will this have on our power circuitry?

Thanks for your help.

UCD9248: Software problem on using UCD9248

Part Number:UCD9248

As I fail to use UCD9248 to produce the correct programed power. I write my design and download operation in detail. Hoping you can help solving the problem. Thank you.

1.       Make a simple offline design

In the following picture, the red R icon is too difficult to get rid of, maybe it is impossible. If I make some change in the setting. I should press write to hardware button (although I do not connect the hardware with PC through TI USB Interface Adapter), otherwise the save button would not actually save the changes to the project file (.tifsp).

More R icons appear. Even I get rid some of them such as over current fault limit by setting its value, after save and reopen the project, it appears still not setted and R icons remains.

What is the relationship between these setting in the following figure and that in the above figure. Are they redundant?

These settings are applied.

After these setting, I save the file as temp.tifsp. Its zip file is attached here, please extract it, since I can not upload a .tifsp file.

(Please visit the site to view this file)

2.       I erase the UCD9248’s data flash to make it as from factory.

 3.       Download the firmware using .tifsp file.

I open Fusion Digital Power Designer in the online mode. The GUI tell me to download a default firmware to the device. I follow.

The default firmware is downloaded.

I download my firmware by importing system file

Error occurs during importing system file.

I find many parameters are correctly downloaded. But I do not know which parameter is not downloaded. I think there should be at least one because error occurs during importing.

The module information may not need to be downloaded.

 4.       4. Monitoring

I think, after above steps, I should see output voltage, but I can not. I have also verified it by oscilloscope. In the following figure, Does the button turn on means to enable the PWM pulse?

UCD9248: Data Flash and Program Flash in UCD9248

Part Number:UCD9248

Is my following understanding correct?

Data Flash and Program Flash exist in UCD9248. User can download firmware to data flash but not to Program Flash.  User firmware is only composed of data. The program is downloaded by TI and can not be modified. Checksum is used to start the program on power up. If checksum is correct, UCD9248 runs the program. If not,  UCD9248 wait a command to execute program.

Thank you

BQ76940: schematic design questions

Part Number:BQ76940

Dear Ti Experts,

I'm designing a product with bq76940 and I have a few schematic questions. Please help me to figure it out.

Q1:I noticed that a diode is connected from VC5 to VC5X in applicaion of bq76940. I wonder why and can this diode be eliminated or directly short?

Q2:There's a paragraph titled reduced test time saying that a special debug and test configuration bit is provided in the SYS_CTRL2 register, called [DELAY_DIS]. Setting [DELAY_DIS] bypasses the OV/UV protection fault timers and allows a fault condition to be registered within 200 ms after application of such a fault condition. I'm confused about how the test time be reduced. Can you explain it more clearly?

Thanks a lot.

Part Number:LM5020

Dear all,

We are proposing to use LM5020 IC to convert from 80V DC to 160V DC.

Output current is around 9 Amp.

With the reference circuit of PMP10523 as base, whether it is possible to increase the Power Path components such as MOSFET,

Inductor and Diode rating to around 10Amp and use the same. Any other constraints to be taken care of?

TPS62125: Regulating voltage below 1.2V

Part Number:TPS62125

Team,

I have a customer wanting to regulate a 1.02V output, and they have been using TPS62125 to do this. That said, they reached out, as they just discovered that the minimum limit for output voltage is 1.2V. Can you comment on why we set the 1.2V limit if the device is capable of regulating at this voltage level? I'm assuming it has to do with the control scheme of the part and the ability of the part to regulate within spec?

Part Number:BQ24079T

Hi team,

The pre-charge current is set by Kprechg/Riset where Kprechg is 70(min)/88(typ)/106(max).

Is the equation still the same when in USB100 mode? (EN2=0, EN1=0)

Thanks.

Part Number:UC1843A-SP

Hi,

I have a customer interested in the UC1843-SP.

Please help answer the following question.

I saw the sample circuit in the datasheet and the TIDA-070002 circuit, I’m not quite sure about the use of coupler for feedback. I see that the input to FB pin in UC1843 had been isolated but what is the reason for isolation? Is it really required?

Thanks,

Part Number:BQ24160

Hi,

I'd like to use BQ24160 in an application, where I would like to use USB for fast charging trough BQ24160, and use the USB for communication too. How can I connect the data lines? Use an USB hub IC, one port for BQ24160, one for my application, or I can just parallel the two lines (charge + data)?

Thanks in advance!

BQ40Z50-R2: Why OCVFR Bit Set ?

$

0

Part Number:BQ40Z50-R2

I got an issue during I was doing golden cycling for my bq40z50 based 4S16P battery pack.I cannot get it successful, QMax and Ra table cannot be updated automatically after several cycles. I was using a power supply(setting as 14.6V 20A) to charge the pack, and using an electronic load (8A) to discharge the pack.

The CHEM ID is 0x0460, it is matched with he pack battery cell. But every time, once the pack is charged to full, its OCVFR flag is set. Per bq40z50 Technical Reference document, if the bit is set, a QMax update is disqualified. I assumed this is the reason why I couldn't get the golden cycling successful.

Please help me to know why the bit is set, and how  I can  avoid this happening.

Thank you very much!

TPS56221: Inverting Buck-Boost for split-rail output

Part Number:TPS56221

TI,

I had been exploring the forum for new components I'd like to try out soon, and I was looking at putting together a simulation for the TPS56221 in an Inverting Buck-Boost topology. Similar to this Application note for the TPS6215x  http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva469c/slva469c.pdf . I'd like to have a solution with a transformer or coupled inductor topology if possible. Is there any reason that this cannot be done with the TPS56221? Any specific 'gotchas' or things I should look out for when trying to design in this way?

Do you have a TI-TINA simulation that already implements this topology for this device or similar?

Thanks.
