BQ34110: bq34110 protection during Short-Circuit in Discharge event

$

Part Number: BQ34110

My query is about is about protection of bq34110 during Short-Circuit in Discharge (SCD) event.

In the datasheet, the absolute maximum voltage for the SRP pin is down to -0.3V.

Say there is a short-circuit between PACK+ and PACK- terminals, with a typical current of 60A.

The typical short-circuit response time of most BMS ICs is 300us-600us.

That means that even with the suggested filter on the SRP and SRN pins of 100nF + 100Ohm, and sense resistor of 10 mOhm, the voltage on the SRP pin will reach -0.6V which is in violation of the absolute maximum ratings.

Is there any way to protect the bq34110 during such SCD event?

Part Number: TPS40000

Hello

I’m looking for a compensation calculator tool for TPS40000 like “Compensation Calculator Tool” from the below web page.

http://www.ti.com/product/TPS40007/toolssoftware

Unfortunately this tool doesn’t support TPS40000.
I know TPS40000 is old device, but my customer says they could download this kind of tool for TPS40000 before.
But it seem to disappear now. Does anyone have this kind of tool for TPS40000?
My customer has to modify TPS40000 circuit for some reason and needs this kind of tool.

BQ40Z60: battery leakage discharge

Part Number: BQ40Z60

Hi,

I have made a 3S BMS board (imitation of the bq40z60 EVM board, all parts same) and used well.  Recently I noticed that once the discharge stopped at the CUV threshold, the 3S battery pack voltage drops day by day 33.7mV; each cell voltage decreases evenly. (The board causes this problem. Not connected cell voltage remains almost forever.) At this rate, I worry that over one month later the pack would be inoperable permanently.

I suspect the leakage path as the following picture (the DSG FET symbol is incorrect); pack(+) --> CHG FET diode forward --> DSG FET diode reverse leakage --> BUCK low-side FET diode reverse leakage --> GND & pack(-)

Is this scenario possible?

Thanks,

Joshua Kim

UCC28950: ZVS operation during turn-off

Part Number: UCC28950

This is my first phase shift full bridge project and I am having some trouble understanding how low-loss switching is ensured when bridge FETs turn off. Especially in the passive leg, when the circulating current is at it's peak. I can find no explicit mention in the literature (maybe I'm missing it) - although much seems to be made about turn-on. Is it simply the capacitance at the leg middle node holding the voltage while the current through the FET drops? In which case the capacitance needs to be large enough to soak up the circulating current without the voltage rising significantly for the Tf duration of the FET.

My problems are probably made worse by the fact that my converter is 500W+ running from a 24V source, so the currents are absolutely huge - so if any has any suggestions for a more appropriate topology (must be isolating), then that would be appreciated.

Hi Team,

In UCC23513 datasheet, it says one of the key feature is CMTI 150V/ns.

I want to know what is the benefit of high CMTI to the power supply system? Could you help explain it in detail?

Thanks very much!

TPS7A19: Output Voltage dip issue with the device

Part Number: TPS7A19

Hi,

Currently we thought of using the TPS7A19 in our design with input voltage in the range of 11 to 28volts with 3.3V output. Our load requirement will be in the range of 150 to 200mA. Will I be able to use this part for this requirement.

Problem we are facing with this device is output voltage is dropping to 2.45V when my load requirement is 100mA (when the load is 22ohm). Only when my load is less than 10mA then only the device is working fine. Can you please help us in solving this issue.

Thanks,

Integrated Switch vs external Switch for Hotswap controller

Hi There!

I need to select the Hot swap controller to protect my circuit during hot plugging.

I am unable to make decision to proceed with Integrated Switch controller or External Switch controller.

These are following requirements for my design.

  • Board form factor should smaller.
  • Board power consumption will be 500mA @3.3V.

Could anyone help me to select the part based on above requirements?

ATL431: ATL431 disable

Part Number: ATL431

Hello support team,

In ATL431 datasheet Fig4, when VKA=VREF=0V, is IKA current same as Ioff :0.05uA?  If VREF is pulled low, can ATL431 be disable with very low current?

Customer would like to investigate ATL431 as over voltage cramp circuit, however, they need very low Iq (<1uA) during normal operation without over voltage.

Thanks,

WEBENCH® Tools/TPS62130: TPS62130 Minimum operating input voltage

Part Number: TPS62130

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Dear community,

I've been using TPS62130 to create a 1.35V source for my board, the input is power from a Li-ion battery rating from 3-4.2V, In the datasheet, TI state that operating range of TPS62130 is from 3-17V, but when my input reach near 3.2V, the chip input and output voltage drop for a very short time (around 3ms), then back to normal. This cause my system to fall into off-state and cannot reset to normal working.

I tried to simulate my case in TI- Webench but the result is the same, the minimum accepted voltage is 3.2V, even if i lower input voltage to 3.1 or 3.01.

Is that because the input of TPS62130 is too close to the minimum operating voltage so it could not work properly. Cause these's a case I power the input of TPS62130 with 2.9V or 2.8V and it's still work, but lower voltage will case the UVLO to trigger and stop working.

I really want to know if TPS62130 can work with input closer to the rated minimum input voltage or not?

Thank you!

We use the bq500212A for wireless charging.

There is  mention of the following tool  'bqTesla TX Tuning Tool'.

Is this something we could get?

Also I was trying to connect to the bq500212A using the EV2300 (HPA002) and bqStudio.

Unfortunately it is not working hence the request for the 'bqTesla TX Tuning Tool'.

Hi

We are considering -17V output from -24V input.

Input : -24V

Output :-17V/100mA

PMP9624 seems to be good reference for our design.

I think minor change should be worked.

Is it possible to use TPS61170 with PMP9624?

Please tell me advice if you have.

Part Number: BQ76PL455A-Q1

Hi,

I am using the EM1402 Evaluation Module (TI BD76PL455A-Q1 Reference Design).

A few days ago, the BMS system had 3 cells with voltages readings around 0.006 to 0.6 volts. Now there are 6 cells reading the same. When I read take the cells out of the BMS chain and read the voltages with a meter, the individual cells are reading 2.2 volts as expected.

These cells are causing under voltage  alarms. Once when I forced a balance on the cells, the voltage readings appeared to become correct. The next day the reading were again low. but using a meter the individual cells readings were expected.

Just reaching out to see what may cause such low readings from the chip/board when the meter tells me the correct voltage. Can this be a hardware issue, is it a setup (parameter) issue leading to a timing problem causing incorrect values? Although little change has been done with the setup parameters.

Any insight is appreciated.

Hi Team,

We plan to use AM3354 with TPS65910A3A1 in a project.

Could you tell me what to do with unused CTL-I2C pins?

I understood that CTL-I2C don't have to use in my application, Is there worth to connect the pins to MCU under following condition?

Mode : Never enter to Sleep mode
Internal Osc and RTC : Never used
Dynamic voltage control : Never used
