BQ40Z60: NRND

Part Number: BQ40Z60

Hi,

I recently noticed the bq40z60 became NRND (Not Recommended for New Design: http://www.ti.com/product/BQ40Z60

I already have designed a standard battery management block for several products using this IC in our company. I worry that I should change the strategy of battery management hardware.

Question:

1) Could you claim the reason why this decent IC became NRND? Difficulty to use, covert flaw, or low yield, etc.

2) Would you introduce an alternative or eligibles for a new design?

Thanks again,

Joshua Kim

Part Number: BQ25570

Hello my question is

I set the voltage output is set to 3.3V.My system is a BQ25570 powering a system(MCU) at 3.3V.  The system  is on the regulated VOUT net of the BQ25570 (on the buck step-down).

But sometimes the built-in Lbuck of bq225570 will have a voltage below 1V.

Sometimes using the meter to measure the voltage and return to normal 3.3V

The following is my circuit diagram TPS62737 is not on the piece

TPS62130A: About ripple voltage in Power save mode

Part Number: TPS62130A

Hi,

When the device is operating in power save mode, does increasing the value of the output capacitor reduce the output ripple voltage?
Without changing the inductor, the ramp speed will not change. And the on-time is fixed.
So the output ripple voltage is expected to decrease.

Yuto Sakai

Part Number: TPS56221

Dear support member.

My customer used TPS56221 and LM10011.

I have a question.

(Question1)
In the combination of TPS56221 and LM10011,
Is the TPS56221 VIN and the LM10011 VDD another power supply?

Because
The power supply is shared in the circuit diagrams described in the data sheet etc, there are many cases, I would like to confirm just in case.

(Question2)
If in the case of another power supply,
Is there an oreder of rise sequence?

Best regard.
Bob Lee.

Hi ,

We know the Turn on threshold is about 8.4V for UC2845.  Now our customer is asking for a device like UC2845 but the turn on voltage needed 6V to 6.5V. Would you please help recommend a suitable device?

thanks very much.

TPS40210: Is the Equation 55 correct?

Part Number: TPS40210

Hi

I have an question about TPS40210 Datasheet equation.

Is the Equation 55 correct?

The equation is from FET switching power loss.

FET current(Id) of Boost convertor is Vin +/- 1/2 x dIL.

I think, we should calculate by Iin instead of Iout.  Is it correct?

If it is correct, In case of the boost rate is high, it has big impact for customer calculation. I hope datasheet correction.

Could you please check it?.

TL1963A-Q1: TL1963AQKTTRQ1: 1.8Vout shoots up to 2V and linearly drop to 1.82V in 100uSec

Part Number: TL1963A-Q1

Hi,

I have used LDO P/N TL1963AQKTTRQ1 in one of my design for 5V to 1.8V step down.

Design details:

Vin: 4.5V to 5.5V

Vout (expected): 1.8V @500mA

ADJ pin resistors: R2: 1.96k Ohms, R1: 4.02k Ohms

While probing the Vout, I observed that at soon as the 5V input turns up, Vout of  TL1963AQKTTRQ1 shoots up to 2V and linearly drops to 1.82V in 100uSec.

This is an issue as the devices I have connected at Vout has absolute maximum rating of 1.89V, thus getting damaged because of initial voltage overshoot.

Kindly suggest if there is any issue in my design and resolution to fix this problem, if any.

Attached snapshot of my design and DSO snap for 1.8V overshoot.

Chandan Kumar

EM1402EVM: Balancing issue with 5A balancing current

Part Number: EM1402EVM

Hello,

I have a battery pack of 13 Li-NMC cells which I am trying to balance using EM1402 board. I have made the required changes in the EVM sample code . I am able to balance the cells at 2A, 3A, and 4A balancing current but when I use 5A  as the balancing current. I am able to see the balancing current in more than one cell channel .

My 11th cell needs balancing , then I am able to see to balancing current in 12th as well as 6th cell .and this pattern is not fixed , any two cells (excluding the actual balancing cell) reflect the balancing current out of which one is charging and other is discharging with the same value of current as I am setting through my code.  I am measuring the current using current probe. Can you please suggest any solution to this problem ?

TPS61280: Help recommend the right IC, or new Device:a battery for silicon anode materials,This battery must be used with an IC with bypass function.

Part Number: TPS61280

Hi,

We are currently evaluating a new material, a battery for silicon anode materials. This battery must be used with an IC with bypass function. Otherwise, the battery voltage is too low. If the battery is ok, the battery that uses this technology will be used. Use this IC;
The voltage is 2.5-4.4V, the system needs a stable voltage higher than 3.5V, and the output current does not exceed 1A;
So we want a battery front-end boost, the battery voltage is higher than 3.5V bypass, boost the voltage below 3.5V to 3.5V;
Find the following:
TPS61256 frequency is 3.5MHz, Iq is bigger, cheaper
TPS61280 frequency is 2.4MHz, Iq-2uA, slightly more expensive
Help recommend the right IC, or new Device;

Thanks a lot.

BQ24210: Charge for NiMH battery?

Part Number: BQ24210

Hi All,

My customer designs black box for car insurance companies.

They are now evaluating BQ24210 as battery charging/protector with low Iq for a NiMH battery cell in an Energy Harvesting solution with PV panel with MPPT algorithm.

I see that in ds BQ24210 is just for Li-Ion battery, but customer needs to use it with NiMH battery.

Can BQ24210 work also for NiMH device? If not any other advice we can recommend to customer? Or workaround to make it work?

Many Thanks,

Antonio

Part Number: UCC28634

Hi,

We are proposing to use this PSR for an Aux supply on an aircraft which gives a 3 phase frequency at 300V rms PMG

Can the design tool be used to accomadate this range.

The input bulk capacitor cannot be changed in the spread sheet even after enabling editing.

Thanks
