LM43601: Small inductor and output capacitor footprint

Hello,

I have made a -5V inverter design with LM43601PWPR IC. But in the design, 27uH inductor and 150uF capacitor have a big footprint. I have successfully got -5V but this design conquers too much space on my PCB. How can I select the smaller inductor and capacitor components? 

Or do you refer any other design converting 7.4V to -5V with 0.5A with less than 300mm2 place on the board and less components? But main IC should be SOIC or other related packages, not as QFN type.

TPS1H200A-Q1: Parallel operation of TPS high side switches

I'm currently using the TPS high-side switch to control a 10W (1.667A@ 6V) tungsten lamp, but new requirements of a 20W lamp (3.25A@6V) exceed the current limits of the device.  Can these parts be effectively used in parallel?  I don't find anything in the datasheet to encourage or discourage this practice, and would think that MOS thermal effects would be such that the parts would share current well.  But I question whether the protection circuitry built into the device would detect conflicts during switch-on.  Obviously, the parts would need to be set up identically and switched from the same source, but there may be other issues involved that cause problems.

TLV704: Regulator burning up during short circuit

Hello,

I am currently using a TLV704 series regulator in a BMS circuit to power an EEPROM. The regulator functions as expected until we attempt to do short circuit testing with the BMS. When shorting the battery pack outputs, the voltage regulator goes straight to outputting around 8.0Vdc instead of 3.3Vdc.

I have tried putting a diode in series with the voltage input of the regulator, but it did not work.

What am I missing to keep the regulator from burning up during an short circuit on its input?

TPS79601DRBEVM: Can I make the programming resistors for TPS79601DR as large as possible to save current for wireless applications?

Hello, 

I noticed on CC1312 Lanchpad, the TPS79601DR programming resistors sum up to 81KOhms which wastes 40.7uA continuously?

- Can I keep the same resistor ratio but increase their values? i.e: instead of 51K and 30K, I use 510K and 300K  for example?
- What is the limitation on the values of these resistors?
- The Compensation capacitor value will decrease (according to the equation 3 in page 16 in the datasheet http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tps796.pdf

Hi,

My customer found  that life time of battery is suddenly decreased as below graph.
The life time is changed from 12 hour to 8 hour…

Y-axis : Life time of battery from 100% to 0%(unit : hour)
X-axis : number of charge-discharge cycle

 

With their field information, the system seems to experienced shut-down ( Battery voltage sometimes below the EDV).
Bq27531 has two Pack information (Pack0 and Pack1). They guess bq27531-G1 selects different Pack_x information once the system recovered from shut down and update different FCC at the time.

 To confirm their scenario, they request bellows
1. How to select Pack0 and Pack1 profile manually.
Or how to check which profile is using

 2. Is it possible #1 in TI EVM?

They will collect the device from field and analysis the failure.
This issue is happened in the field. So, the emergency action is required…. Could you please give me your support?

LMG5200: Efficiency verses Current

I am using the LMG5200 in a class D configuration.  My application requires high voltage but not a lot of current.  I am wondering how much effect on efficiency will there be if I am running at 0.5A verses the higher currents this device is rated for.  I am looking to get about 15W of power out of the device.  Switching frequency is around 2MHz.  Right now, as I increase the voltage on Vin, the efficiency is getting worse.  I know I still have some layout issues to fix, but I dont think they would cause this problem.  I am driving into a fixed resistor for the moment.  Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

However, at the ultra-low brightness levels required to slowly illuminate a completely dark room,

the PWM step increments showed obvious shelving at PWM color-mix values < 10

BQ24171: Battery over voltage threshold by changing temperature

bq24171 changes charge voltage as temperature change.

In this case, is BAT over voltage threshold changed too?

BAT OV threshold is typ 104% of VFB_REG.

For example, when charge voltage setting is 4.2V, it becomes 4.1V at 45 degC to 50 degC. In this time, does BAT OV threshold change from 4.368V to 4.264V?

And we would like to know the Min and Max value of BAT over voltage rising and falling threshold. Would you give me the variation information?

Refer to IPC J-STD-002E Test B1, the dip and look test shall be performed on the samples.
The test conditions are shown as follows

B) Solder Temperature: 245℃
C) Dwell Time: 5 seconds
D) Immersion Rate: 25mm/s
E) Flux: 74.61%±0.5% by weight of isopropyl alcohol, 25%±0.5% by weight of colophony and 0.39%±0.01% by weight of diethylammonium hydrochloride
3 Observations
Dewetting was found for sample 1 and 3.

BQ34110: Bq34110 Auto Sealed

Recently, I met an issue when optimizing the configuration of bq34110. Some of the bq34110 chips were sealed automatically which causes that the DF cannot be re-programed anymore. The status of SEC1 and SEC0 was 11 which indicates the chip is sealed. But we didn’t do any action to make it sealed at any time during the development. Moreover, it can’t quit the sealed mode by sending command unsealed via BMS. By the way, the revision of the BMS is 1.3.54.1. 

My questions are:

1.       How can it happen?

2.       How to avoid it?

3.       How to quit the sealed mode and make it programmable again?

BQ25910: question about 3 level convert ,during the work , how did the Cfly charge to VIN/2, who control the Cfly charge

HI ,I have a question about  3 level convert.I have read about BQ25910 spec.

Before the 3 level convert start to work ,if D<0.5,the Voltage on Cfly is 0; Who charge it to VIN/2? 

I know during the first stage,the VIN charge the Cfly  to VIN/2.

Here is the question,how did the charge work?

why charge to VIN/2?

How to control charge?

who control the charge?

Why charge stop when the  Cfly charged to VIN/2? Why Vsw is VIN/2?

TPS5430: TPS5430 Vout short to GND

Dear TI team:
    My customer do the  TPS5430  output short to GND test, they found sometimes the D2 will be breakdown, and sometimes the TPS5430 is also damage.

    The TPS5430 has over current limiting function, but why does it still break. My customer's schematic as below, the application is 24V turn 12V, the D2 P/N is SK34A .

    What could possibly cause damage to D2 and TPS5430?  Thanks!

TPS3824: WDI pulse and can not RESET

Hi Team,

We are applying TPS3824 to our design.
I have some questions about how it works.

 1. WDI signal is asserted when power up sequence, /RESET is still "Low" output.

 2./RESET becomes "High" after td.
 
 3.A 3.3V pulse(240msec) appears from the 2.7V(2sec) output of Sequence / RESET.

 4./RESET becomes "Low" after the pulse.

 5./ RESET is always low even if the WDI signal is asserted.

question1: Is the WDI pin at 3.3V pulse high impedance?

question2: Why does /RESET not becomes high when WDI asserts?
