TPS92518HV: Does the TPS92518 have a timeout one writes?

$

Part Number: TPS92518HV

There is another behavior I can't figure out.

If the last command to the 92518 was a write (specifically to Toff[MAX]), then at some point after I don't talk to the device, the SPI Error bit gets set.

However, if I read the status register last, then SPIE does not get set.

To describe this in more detail. I'm writing some python that talks to four TPS92518HVs through four 32 bit registers within an FPGA I designed that has a SPI controller in it.

To keep things simple, I do all transactions 16 bits at a time. Write commands were being sent twice and I grabbed the reply data from the first write to ensure that the transaction went according to plan.

Doing things that way caused the SPI error bit to be set when I polled them again some seconds later.

When I changed the sequence to be a write of the desired register followed by a read of the status register, the write response frame arrived, but the SPI error bit does not get set.

It seems as if the device requires the write response frame to be trasfered or a SPI error occurs.

If that's not what's happening, what rule am I violating?

More importantly, is there a better way for me to access the part? Is there a NOP command that will let me fetch the response frames?

Thanks much.

Part Number: TWL6030

Hi Team,

My customer is asking if we could provide the Technical Reference Manual of TWL6030? I already informed that this device is already NRND but he insisted that he needs the Manual to check their existing device.

Looking forward to your reply.

DCPA10505D: Regarding Soft Start operation

Part Number: DCPA10505D

Hi Team,

I would like to know about the Soft Start definition in the datasheet.

(1) “a delay of typically 10 ms before the output voltage begins to rise”

Is this an understanding of the pink part of the figure?

(Please visit the site to view this file)

(2) What is the definition of “the soft start time is typically 5 ms”?

Is it ok to understand that the rise time of the output voltage (time to reach 10% ⇒ 90%) is 5ms in typ value?

  Please illustrate if possible.

(3) What are the numbers (1) and (2) above for DCP010505DBP?

Is 0ms for (1) (no delay ≒ no intentional delay)?

Best Regards,

Kenji

BQ79606A-Q1:Balancing by threshold.

Part Number: BQ79606A-Q1

Hi TI team:

When balancing the cells automatically by voltage threshold, in activation cycles the voltage of each cell drops, so that the balancing cuts before the cell actually reaches the programmed voltage. How can i fix this?

Thanks, Sebastian.-

LM5113: lm5113

We are developing a product use the LM5113 and EPC2035 FET.  We just had our first boards assembled and were told by the assembly house that the EPC2035 Bump Die is very difficult to assemble and had to be hand assembled.  We have limited space, however we do have enough room to switch to a slightly larger package, such as the SC70, 74, 75, 89 or 96.  Can you recommend FET in one of these packages that will work with the LM5113.  Our maximum voltage is 18V and the maximum current is about 1.5A.

 Thanks,

 Bob

TPS2595: Current limit on low voltage applications

$

Part Number: TPS2595

I am using the TPS259540 in several parts of one project. When input voltage is 12V everything works smoothly, I can shortcircuit or force an overcurrent on any output and the IC will behave as expected. When using lower voltages (5V or 3.3V), the current trip seems to occur but instead of turning off the output, a 300mA output remains active, with no relation to the current setting. I have tried with 1A output and 1.5A output with no difference on outcome. Using an active load I can correctly archeive 1A or 1.5A outputs, but when I go over those values the current 'resets' to 300mA and the FLT pin never triggers, no matter how hot the device gets. Again, raising Vin to +12V and trying the exact same experiment results on a correct behaviour.

I am using 1uF as input/output capacitors, 3.3nF as dVdt capacitor, 10k/12Kk as the voltage divider for UVLO, and 1.33k as Rilim.

Is there a way to solve this, or is that an expected outcome?

LM3478: 15V --> 350V : Boost OR Flyback Design?

Part Number: LM3478

Greetings,

I am needing to design a high voltage, low current compact supply. The specs are as follows:

1) Input voltage: 10V-17V

2) Output Voltage: 350VDC

3) Output Current (max): 10mA (nominal about 5mA)

I was wanting to use the LM3478 for its low cost, high voltage spec (500V), and small 8-pin package.

The questions are:

a) Is it possible?

b) What configuration is best; BOOST, FLYBACK, one or the other in combination with a voltage multiplier?

c) Is there some other controller that would be better?

Thanks.

PS. i have also been trying to simulate with the LM3478 pspice model using Orcad PSpice, but it does not want to play well (convergence problems, any tips?)

Ideal Diode Solution for connecting two power supplies in parallel

$

I have researched this multiple times in the past, but now I find myself in a bit of a hurry.

What options does TI have for joining two power supply outputs into one power rail?

I prefer ideal diodes. Previous implementation was TPS2493 and was not designed properly. I attempted to fix it and was not able to get it to work. This has soured me to the 2493.

Here are the specs:

1. 57.5 VDC + or - 0.5 V

2. 17.5 Amps max from each supply.

3. If possible, software controlled enable with 3.3V TTL outputs.

4. If possible, current measurement (if not will use INA19X).

TPS61178: Switching is audible as load is increased

Part Number: TPS61178

I am using this part to boost the input voltage (6-12V) up to output 12V 4A.  I followed the Webench design tool.  When the AC/DC_12V is at 12V, the circuit works fine with no audible sound.  As the AC/DC_12V input voltage is lowered to less than 8V and/or load increased to around 3A, the circuit starts making audible, squealing sound.  The sound gets louder as the load increases.  I've changed the inductor L1 to 3.3uF, but the sound (Please visit the site to view this file)is still there.  Do you have a suggestion?

Thank you,

Vichet

LM5069: The board tries to power up, and then LM5069 gets burned

Part Number: LM5069

I am using excellent FET, PB031NE7N3 - which is only 6mohm at 175C at full 100A current.

48V, 3mohm sense resistor (18A limit).  RPWR=40.2K, CTMR=100nF (0.1uF).  Output Capacitance=132uF.  I have 500mA of constant load at power up.  My UNDER/OVER are correct.  I have no diode protection at load

But, when I power up, LM5069 tries to turn on Gate (in pulses) and eventually burns out

What am I doing wrong?

LMR16006: Implement soft-start?

$

Part Number: LMR16006

I'm using LMR16006. Input is around 19V, output 8.2V, 105mA. There is a divider at the SHDN pin to turn the unit off when input hits 14.5V (100K/8.8K). I'd like to know if there is a way to slow down the turn-on a little bit? The datasheet states that it employs a soft start internally, but is there a manner to simply set up an on-delay as well? Thanks James

BQ25505: Low voltage solar charging IC alternatives

Part Number: BQ25505

Hello e2e community,

I used the Bq25505 IC in a design of mine and found it very useful for charging a single cell LiPo battery. However, when I connected this IC to a load circuit the IC failed and went into cold start (I believe). I'm wondering if TI offers any alternatives to this IC. Ideally one that reduces complexity and does not have a pin for a primary non - rechargeable battery.

Hello,

I am trying to import the unencrypted spice model into TINA using the Macro Wizard.

It gives me the below syntax error. I tried messing around with that line of code, but no success. I have the latest version of TINA.

Any recommendations on how to edit that line? Thank you!

Part Number: UCC28070

IN TESTING THE PFC CONTROLL BOARD I COULDN'T HELP BUT NOTICE THAT THE GDX OUTPUT SIGNALS WERE OSCILLATING BETWEEN 89KhZ TO 115KHz.  THE WAY I SEE THIS IS THAT THE GDX SIGNALS COMING FROM THE UCC28070 (Pin #14 & Pin #17) ARE UNSTABLE AND WILL MOST LIKELY DESTROY THE POWER SWITCHES.

NOTE : I AM TESTING ONLY THE SIGNAL PORTION OF THE PFC CONTROL BOARD.

Question #1: IS THIS NORMAL FOR THE UCC28070 IC?

Question #2: IF THIS NOT NORMAL, WHICH IC PINS MIGHT BE CAUSING THE GDX SIGNALS TO SWING BETWEEN  89KhZ TO 115KHz

Question #3 : DO YOU HAVE ANY POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO THIS PROBLEM, IF IT IS A PROBLEM?

THANK YOU
