UCD3138: UCD3138PFCEVM-026

Part Number: UCD3138

Dear Yitzhak,

I need PIM (e_meter) function for the PFC with UCD3138. Bosheng told me to contact local FAE if I want to use it but the local TI FAE doesn't answer more than one week. I asked several times.

Is it possible to use PIM (e_meter) function on UCD3138PFCEVM - 026 if I will just reconnect pins and turn on in CCS?

Thanks

Part Number: BQ25606

Hi,

Recently,I used BQ25606 in my project, the part of schematics are as follows:

In fact, The VBUS  using a adapter :12V/1A。The battery is 2600mAh.

usually, sys load current about 300-500mA,LED Foward Voltage is about 2V,The charging current is close enough to the setting value,I've measure PMID about 11.9V,REGN is 6V,TS is 3V,but,when I charged a battey which initial voltage is about 3.5V,the stat LED and PG status is correct, after charged 8 hour or more, the STAT LED Blinking at 1Hz, at this time, the VBAT Voltage is close enough to 4.2V,PMID still about 11.9V,REGN is 6V,TS is 3V,if I remove the same battery and plug in again quickly ,after a while, the stat LED back to normal , stat indicator is HIGH,I‘m  confused !! why?? Why does timer fault  happen ?Even if I increase the charging current to 1A,this situation still exists. By the way,the D+ D- do not connect anaything. Why does timer fault  happen  ?

Part Number: BQ24773

Hello TI,

We are working on Battery management system to our device, Battery as UPS to the system
Because of System output power rating TI team suggest the BQ24773 better than BQ25895 to avoid heat sink problem and to achieve output power (5V/5A)

1.what is the difference between the BQ24773 and BQ25895, based on feature..?
2.as per price comparison BQ24773 is costly than BQ25895, why..?
3.By using BQ24773 how to regulate or get 5V ouput voltage ..?
4.In BQ25895 there is time delay for (PMID) boost conversion 30mSec to switch system I/P source to battery source, BQ24773 require any time switch the power source ..?
5.Need to use boost converter(TPS61088) with BQ24773 ..?
6. what is the Output voltage BQ24773 when I/P source is OFF and battery is power to the system..?
7. why the price of BQ24773 is higher then BQ25895, BQ24773 require external power path management and complex support circuit.

Please clear the mention point it is valuable to move further of system design, thanks for your valuable support and quick response.

Thank & Regard,

Hi Team,

My Customer wants to perform thermal analysis for the device LM21212-2. They need to require the information θjc(junction to case thermal resistance) and θjb(junction to board thermal resistance) of above the part. I've tried to search in these data unfortunately, this is not mentioned in the datasheet. Please let me know if we can provide this information.

Looking forward to your reply.

TPS2121: TPS2121

Part Number: TPS2121

Hi Sir,

We have some questions about the TPS2121 EVM test

When we tune on Vin2(5V) and then Vin1 on(5V), we find Vout drop is too big (The result of calculating Vout, min using the spec. formula is about 4.9V )

And then we tune off Vin1 after Vin1 and Vin2 on, Vout drop to 0V (I_load is 2A) and switch time is greater than 1ms (tsw is 100us on spec.)

Is this normal or there is an error in which setting?

LM5176: LM5176

Part Number: LM5176

Hi,

I included to this a word file with simulation results of a Buck Boos design using LM5176. As I was simulating the DC DC converter design, I saw that during power up, when the input voltage is at 17VDC, running in Buck mode). It takes about 3.6 mS before the output high side mosfet turns on. Prior to that, the output schottkey diode in parallel with the high side mosfet is carrying all the current. Is this a normal behavior of the IC to have a 3.6mS delay at power up before it switches over? If this is a normal behavior of the IC, the diode will have to be sized accordingly and it will require quite a large diode to handle the current.

Thank you,

Daniele

TPS54040A: TPS54040A and TPS54040A

Part Number: TPS54040A

Hi everyone,

I am a bit overwhelmed whit the large choice of switching regulators out there so I wonder if someone can give me a few tips.

My design is basically a weighing station with a uP and a 24 bit sigma delta ADC that can be networked together over an RS485 bus using CAT5 cable. Power supply input will be 12 VDC to 24 VDC over the CAT5 cable. The design needs to be robust enough to work reliably in a typical industrial environment. Up to 32 boards may be networked together and they may be connected and disconnected from the bus at any time. Current consumption of each board is less then 100 mA. I am planing on using the TPS54040 and TPS7A4700 as a post regulator for low noise. My concern with this combination is complexity, cost and board space so I was wondering if there is a simpler solution for the task. Some of the features I am looking for are low noise, soft start and power good signal.

Many thanks, Chris

non isolated dcdc 16-75Vin - 15Vout @1A

Hi,

My customer is defining the design of a gps to be installed on a ship.

Currently the need would be:

Solution not isolated
Operative input voltage: 18-56V (48V nominal)
Maximum input voltage: 16 (or less if the step down solution is not used) -75V (or greater)
Output voltage: 15V
Output Current: 1A
Max Ambient temperature: 70 ° C

I found the solutions:
• LM5164 (possibly the Q1 version)
• LM5088 (possibly the Q1 version)

Is there anything else that can be evaluated?

Many Thanks,

Antonio

Bidirectional DC-DC converter

$

Hi,

I want to find a bidirectional DC-DC converter with following requirements:

1: normal operation: 24V/15V to 5V/3.3V buck converter.

2: Sink current from output point: 5V/3.3V to 24V/15V. Max sink current is 1A.

For example: IO protection

Due to the high speed IO >50MHz, series current limit resistor is not feasible. The fixture is connected to an unknown external DUT. The overvoltage and overcurrent is 100V and 100mA.

Thus, we consider to clamp the voltage by the external current limit of 100mA.

But this concept required a stable 5V and 3.3V power supply.

The supplies should be able to sink the current from the DUT. The worst case is 10 IOs are used at the same time, therefore a maximum sink current is 1A.

The load of the supplies is not enough to sink this current.

Do you have such a power supply that can be bidirectional to sink this current and match the above requirements?

switches to cut the supply line and GND not using relays

Hi,

My customer needs to "cut" the supply line (Imax = 10A, which could, however, rise for short periods in the case of shorts, Vmax = 75V) and perhaps even the GND.

We must absolutely have contact resistances as low as possible and fast switching times.
We are trying to understand if in addition to the relay solutions (which usually present problems of high contact resistances and non-negligible switching times) or discrete solution with Pmos (and / or nmos for GND) there is something integrated able to do such work?

Many Thanks,

Antonio

LM3478: Light Load / No Load Condition

Part Number: LM3478

Hi,

I posted a month ago this question related to the LM3478 (when my SEPIC changed between Pulse skipping to Normal mode, I had a Load transient of at least 2Volts): https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management/f/196/p/814741/3016148?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=LM3478%20light%20load#3016148

At light load / no load condition the LM378 will enter pulse skipping mode. This can be overcome by adding a dummy load to the output.

If this is not desired please look at the LM5155 to replace the LM3478.

Thanks,

Garrett

I don´t want add a dummy load to the output, so then you recommend to take a look to LM5155 instead of LM3478. Taking a look to the datasheet, it says that this chip can also enter in the pulse skipping mode. How can I assure myself that I'm not going to have the same problem that I had with this mode change in LM3478? There is no much information or graph about this pulse skipping mode.

Thank you,

BQ34110: bq34110 versus bq34z100-G1

Part Number: BQ34110

Hi TI Team!

I hesitate between 2 fuel gauge.

I have a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery of 25.6V and I need to get the battery’s state of charge to be maintained around 50% (to get the best lifetime).

I see that you have 2 products that can fit my needs, the BQ34110 and the BQ34Z100-G1.

I understand that the BQ34110 is based on the CEDV algorithm meanwhile the bq34z100-G1 is IT algorithm.

I read a lot of your documentation and I understand that the IT algorithm seems to be the best one to get a good accuracy. But if you have these 2 solutions, I suppose that the CEDV algorithm have some advantages too?

Can you help me to understand what can be the advantage to use the BQ34110 and not the BQ34Z100-G1?

Thanks in advance for your answer.

Best regards,

Jérôme

BQ27010: Next gen of BQ27010

Part Number: BQ27010

Hello team,

Hope you are doing well .Please see below customer question:

We have a pack that uses the bq27010 for the gas gauge. Based on the datasheet I have for it, this part came out in 2007.

Has a compatible but updated version been released since?

The part has 1 feature that annoys a large number of users. A learning cycle must be performed every 32 cycles unless a “valid” (deep) discharge was performed.

That doesn’t always happen in the real world.

If my memory is correct, the newer TI ‘bq’  gas gauges no longer have this requirement. Of course, the data protocol/register interface must be compatible with the existing radio designs that work with the bq27010.
