Hi There ,
I am using this solution to provide 12V for my HMI system .
In the EVM schematic , the GND of RJ45 connector is independent , should I connect it to system GND ?
Do you have any suggestion for that ?
Thanks
Tony

Hi team,
My customer want to use TPS65381A-Q1 to power TMS570, however their system can only provide 5V supply. I wondered can this PMIC operated with 5V input? Is there any reference design for 5V operation?
Thank you,
John
Part Number: UCC21732-Q1
Hello TI Team,
We have a new project for passenger vehicle motor drive, where we tried to simplify our existing gate driver design using UCC21732. We built board and are using it on FF600R12ME4C module (half bridge) just for testing.
Three boards combined spins the motor just fine for now (not fully tested) except for occasional UVLO and desat trips.
We narrowed down problem where we can reliably reproduce it. SCH below:
PS voltage is +16V, -4.7V. On the PWM input is Rigol DG1022 signal generator. We can switch HS or LS or both IGBTs, same problem.
Scope screenshot:
CH1 yellow: PWM input
CH2 blue: IGBT Gate (differential probe between E and G)
With narrow pulse, approx. 300ns wide, UVLO fault happens. IGBT is turned off after 5us just like datasheet says (VDD UVLO off delay to output low). IGBT turns back on after 0.8ms, as per DS.
If we decrease pulse width even further we get desat fault. UVLO and desat faults happens only with high duty cycles (>99.4% @20kHz). We could not reproduce problem with low duty cycles (when signal goes high for short time).
Short circuit between E and C to bypass desat - no change. Short circuit between pins 2-3 - no change.
PWM frequency also doesn't matter, only pulse width.
Zoomed in pic:
CH1 yellow: PWM input
CH2 blue: IGBT Gate
It looks like it happens when IGBT doesn't have enough time to fully turn off. Gate voltage manages to go down only to 4V.
PS voltages two pics below:
CH1 yellow: Voltage between driver pins 3 and 5 (COM and VDD)
CH2 blue: IGBT Gate
CH1 yellow: Voltage between driver pins 3 and 8 (COM and VEE)
CH2 blue: IGBT Gate
PS voltages looks stable enough with sufficient margin to not trip UVLO levels.
We could reproduce the same problem with 10nF foil cap on gate, instead of IGBT, with pulses less than 200ns, so some of my colleagues expressed worries that noise on short pulses could be source of the issues.
So we removed IGBT and put 10uF cap on the gate. This should be slow enough to eliminate short pulses theory. We needed to modify PS (put a LOT of caps) for this to work. PWM frequency is set to 100Hz. Desat sense is shorted.
Normal operation (PWM pulse width >18us):
CH1 yellow: PWM input
CH2 blue: 10uF Cap (diff probe close to gate resistors)
Fault (PWM pulse width <= 18us):
CH1 yellow: PWM input
CH2 blue: 10uF Cap
UVLO fault triggers when gate voltage could not fall below 4V. If we decrease pulse width even further desat fault latches output to -4.7V.
We can provide more details if needed, please advise.
Kind regards,
Zoran Halić

Hi Team,
I would like to evaluate charger + fuel gauge from TI.
In my application I looking for charger with D+/D- so I found BQ24253.
I found that TI doesn't have EVM for BQ24253 only for BQ24251EVM-150, can I use it? is it same die as BQ24253? Does TI recommended this part or other part?
General question – how the D+/D- detection works? It can detect any USB from PC?
I would like to understand how D+/D- detection feature works.
Here are my questions:
If there is an application note that describe the handshaking flow it will be excellent.
Thanks,
Shlomi
Part Number: BQ51050B
Hi,
We are facing an issue with a module having wireless charger and receiver IC BQ51050B. The issue is, when we are placing the receiver module directly above the charge transmitter pad charging is not happening. But when we are slowly keeping the receiver module above the charge transmitter pad with an air gap of around 3mm, charging is initiating and we can put the receiver module freely above the charge transmitter pad, the Battery will charge (sometimes charging stops before full charge and then we have to take the receiver module from the pad and place it again like explained above). What may be the reason for this?. What we have tried is we have placed a thermocol of thickness more than 3mm and placed the receiver module above the thermocol. Irrespective of how many times and different directions we tried, the Battery is charging suddenly; without any interruption Battery is fully charging. Receiver coil self inductance (Ls) is around 28uH and Ls' with Ferrite sheet, Battery and primary shielding is around 32uH.
Expecting support as soon as possible.

Hafiz

Hi team.
Please tell me how to reduce the ripple voltage at Burst Mode(light load).
Sincerely.
Kengo.
We have question about UCC28180.
The output voltage of PFC is directly applied to VSENSE pin if RFB2(R13) in datasheet p.22 Figure 29 is open.
Is this understanding correct?
Is there the resistor in VSENSE pin for protection function when voltage detection resistor is open?

When the battery is discharged to the automatic shutdown (the software is set to 3.4V shutdown), the measured Vbat voltage is about 3.3, and it is rested for 1-2 days. Then the Vbat voltage is measured. It is found that the voltage drops to 2.9v or 3.1v, and then the USB is inserted to charge. It is found that there is a probabilistic charging failure (about 0.009A).
The experimental measurements were made: unplug the battery, insert the usb, test the Vbat voltage only 3.54v(Please visit the site to view this file)
Part Number: LM5118
Hi ,
I am using LM5118 for realizing Buck-boost Converter. The design is such that the Input Voltage (6V-26V) to Output Voltage (15.5V) with full load current of 2.25A. I am simulating the same in Simetrix using LM5118 unencrypted model, but it shows the following error.
There are errors in the circuit. Simulation aborted
design.net (107): Ren2gnd EN GND 1/gmin

Part Number: TPS40170EVM-597
Hello,
We are developing a low noise output DC-DC converter using the TPS40170 and have developed a prototype based on the TPS40170EVM-597.
We have achieved low noise (less than 5 mV pp) by post filtering the switching ripple and noise, frequency locking to a crystal based external oscillator and providing a low noise external reference.
The dominant noise now has a 1/f characteristic with frequency components less than 15 kHz.
We believe the dominant noise source is now the input noise of the TPS40170 internal error amplifier.
Can you provide any data on the input noise of the TPS40170 internal error amplifier?
Can you please advise on the effect of bypassing the internal error amplifier and of driving the COMP pin from a low impedance output external error amplifier might be?
If the error amplifier inverting input is left floating can we force the output of the amplifier (the COMP) pin using an external error amplifier?
Do you have any noise data or recommendations for low noise operation for the TPS40170 oscillator and TPS40170 PWM comparator ?
Do you have any recommendations for an alternative DC-DC controller to realise a low noise output.
Our requirement is 24 V DC in to 5 V / 8 A out and 24 V DC in to 12 V / 2 A out
