TPS92691-Q1: TPS92961:The switch frequency setting was not successful

Part Number: TPS92691-Q1

Hi team:

   I used TPS92691Q1 design a boost LED diver.There are several problems bothering me.

1:The dimming drive (DDRV port)waveform is always the same as the switching drive(GATE port) waveform;

2:PWM frequency <20Khz;

3:When I don't use RT(Generating switching frequency), the LED light still lights up at PWM frequency;

4:The efficiency is extremely low, and the d-pole of the switching MOS rings when it is turned off;

5:I used the BOOST circuit to follow the product manual, where the parameters were calculated according to the formula given and compared multiple times;

Finally, I feel that the failure to set the switch frequency led to a series of problems, but I have repeatedly checked the welding of RT and found no problems, so I came to consult the authorities.

TPS2546: Mode Selection inquiry

Part Number: TPS2546

Hi Emma

I have few questions to ask about TPS2546 configurations.

Below is the application scenario on the USB port

#1. Supports USB thumb driver and HDD for data transfer
#2. Supports various mobile phones for charging only mode. No data is required

Questions

1. Does below mode best suit for the applications such as

SDP/CDP Auto Switch for #1
DCP auto for #2

2. If only configure SDP/CDP Auto Switch for #2.  What happened to the phone’s charging condition? Would it work similar as DCP auto?

3. Since there is no SDP/CDP - DCP Auto switch mode, user has to perform software setting that depends on what portable USB device is inserted. Is there any detection that could assist to inform MCU to decide which mode to configure? Eg. When thumb drive / HDD is connected, it selects SDP/CDP and if a phone is connected, it switch to CDP Auto.

4. Do you have the phone compatible list supported by this device with DCP auto?

5. Do you have the feature comparison of TPS2546 vs TPS2549 ? Cable compensation is not required here. Does it make sense to use newer TPS2549?

Part Number: TPS65094

Hi Team,

We've DIN TPS65094 is our customer, but they're meeting the challenge that during power on test, PCH_PWROK and RSM/RSTB pin voltage will have a spike during PMICEN pin voltage rising, and then back to normal, please refer to the waveform below.

What may cause this spike and will this spike cause any trouble to the system? Could you please some comments on that?

Thanks.

Part Number: LP2992

Hello,

In my company we have been using LP2992AIM5-5.0/NOPB as a regulator in an equipment we have been producing for more than 5 years. In the last batch we have produced we had to deal with a problem with this part: It worked fine at the beginning, but in a random lapse of time mostly of them were giving 7.8 VDC instead of 5 VDC (It is feeded with 10 VDC). We have never known the reason of this issue.

Now I have seen that this part is discontinued in some dealers. was there any problem with this part, and for that reason it was discontinued? i would be very grateful if you could tell me, because we have had lot of problems with this part.

Thank you in advance,

TPS2113A: Failure modes analysis

Part Number: TPS2113A

As part of our design we need to consider and assess all possible failure modes. Since the TPS2113A device is connected to both input power rails and to ground.

Is it possible that the TPS2113A could fail in such a way to crowbar both input rails to ground simultaneously?

If yes do you have probability figures and what kind of abuse would be needed to cause such a failure?

TPS22913: TPS22913 application

Part Number: TPS22913

Hi, TI team,

There is a project which uses TPS22913. The desing circuit is as below:

1. Due to the EN is low, although the 5VDD is ready, the 5VDD can't be built at the network of "5VOUT";

2. And then the EN_LDO is high, and the 3.3V is built at the network of "5VOUT";

3. SET EN to be high level, and the 5VDD will pass through TPS22913, and the 5VDD will be built at the network of "5VOUT";

Please help check the operation principle is right or wrong!!!

I found that there is a MOSFET QOD on the datasheet.

If the EN is low level, the VOUT pin will be pulled to ground or not?

If VOUT is pulled to ground, the TPS22913 will be burnt if VOUT is with external LDO as above. Right?

Thanks very much!

BQ34Z100: Four BQ34Z100-Z1 gauges are in parallel. Problem with getting valid RC.

Part Number: BQ34Z100

Dear TI team and community!

I am involved in BMS design currently.
The problem I have encountered is: the design has four LiFePO4 modules* ( approx. 14V, 7.5 A*H, 30 A*H in sum) that connected in parallel.
Each module has BQ34Z100-Z1 gauge (to obtain state-of-health (SOH) from module; number of modules in design may change from 1 to 4 items) so, MCU collects data from four gauges.

During test charge-discharge cycles I have not got valid data about remaining capacity (RC), it didn't changed.
For example, I have discharged four modules in parallel for 2 hours with current in 4 A. The RC was still the same for every gauge - approx. 7.5 A*H.

Every BQ34Z100-Z1 gauge responds to commands via I2C and provide valid data for voltage, temperature and current.

  • Am I use correct approach?
  • Can I build such a system in principle: four modules with four gauges?
  • What can I try to do to fix the problem?

*Each module contains many 26650 batteries.

Thanks for any help!

Sincerely,
Andrei.

Part Number: TPS57160-Q1

I have doubt on EN pin, As it has two functions EN and UVLO. I have calculated the resistors for UVLO and connected to Supply and GND as a voltage divider.

Now, I want to control EN pin with 18 to 36V input. Could you please help on this topic?

Vin - 18.5 to 36V

UVLO : V Start : 18V

             V Stop : 17.2V

EN pin control voltage : 18 to 36V.

Thank you,

Hi,

It indicates the Max Pulse Drain Current is 85A in the datasheet, which is under condition that the pulse duration <=300us and the duty cycle <= 2%.

  1. In application, If the current exceed 85A, but the duration is much lower,  single pulse less than 10us, is there any problem?
  2. Is this IC is wire bonding or Die connects to the leads directly?

Thanks.

TPS5430: TPS5430 wouldn't start

Part Number: TPS5430

Hi!

I have a weird behaviour of the schematic for 12-24 to5V buck regulator based on TPS5430.

The schematic was desifgned in WEBENCH & the components were chosen according to the recommended BoM. I've cross-checked the WEBENCH calculations with the formulas from the datasheet and they seem to be correct.

However, what I see is that the circuit wouldn't start. The PH pin oscillates and the output voltage is fixed to 1.225V. What is also weird, the Vsense voltage is the same 1.225V.

I've tried replacing the TPS5430 with another one - obviously no luck. I've also tried playing with input/output capacitance - no changes. I'm attaching the relevant parts of schematic & layout as well as an oscilloscope trace from PH pin.

Any advice/ideas?

Part Number: TPS61071

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi

I want to simulate the optimal feed forward comp network for the TPS61071 booster.

I have exported the design from webench and trying to replicate the load transient method from: TI Training home TINA-TI Video Training Series Power product simulation in TINA-TI(TM) simulator.

The simulation seams to get stuck under calculations, what am i doing wrong? It works perfect in the example from the video, but not with the TPS61071 model.

I look forward to any help you can provide.
