Part Number:BQ27741-G1

Tool/software: Linux

Hi,

In my design we are using Battery of 10000mAh.

I wish to change the Battery charge\Discharge parameters as accordingly.

But i am getting following values When read the registers:

Voltage – 4211

Nominal available capacity – 1138

Full available capacity – 1138

Remain capacity – 1100

Full charge capacity – 1100

Average power – 1200

Register settings :

Unsealed – 00 00 80

cfgupdate – 00 13 00

block_data_control – 61 00

data_block_class – 3E 52

data_block 3f 00

block_data_check-sum – 60

design_capacity_loc - 4a

soft_reset – 00 42 00

seal_data – 00 20 00

Am setting design capacity is 0x2710  (10000mAh) as per data sheet , am trying to reading nominal available capacity but getting 1138 value. so my question is design capacity values and Nominal available capacity are not equal and any conversion is required to make it equal?

Regards,

Naveen

However, customers would like to MAX/Min value for this. Please comment.

BQ35100EVM-795: Interface connection from PC USB - EV2300 - bq35100evm-795 board

When I open bqstudio and select "0100_1_02-bq35100.bqz" as the target gives me a prompt reading "The detected device is not compatible with this application! Some actions could cause the device to lose communication permantly and enter and unrecoverable state. Proceed at your own risk. Select OK to continue, Cancel or close the application. When the GUI opens after selecting OK the interface connection just shows the bidirectional arrows with no I2C reference. I am using a 64 bit Windows 8 PC and was thinking it may be a driver issue. I have also tried running bqstudio on a Windows XP 32 bit PC but have the same issue. I have downloaded drivers from the TI site that I believed would be suitable but with no success.

Is there a configuration process I am missing or a driver that is suitable for Windows 8, 64 bit systems?

BQ34110EVM-796: Unexpected Current Detected [LUCD] during Learning Charge Phase of EOS Learning Cycle

Part Number:BQ34110EVM-796

Hello,

I am using the BQ34110EVM with an EV2400 and bqStudio to gauge a PbA battery. I am trying to execute an EOS Learning Phase (a manual Charge-before-discharge), so I give the EOS_EN command, followed by the EOS_START_LEARN command. The [LCMD] and  [LCHG] bits in the EOS Learn Status register both set indicating the device is ready for a user controlled charge; however, I keep getting the Unexpected Current Detected error ([LUCD] and [LFAULT]). Of course the Learning Phase is then aborted automatically. The datasheet says this bit will set during the charge phase if a discharge current above a certain threshold is detected, but the current readings are all indicating a valid charging current. Can anyone tell me why I keep getting his error?

Thanks.

BQ33100: REG27 question; Possible datasheet Typo

$

Part Number:BQ33100

Is REG27 powered from VCC, VCCPACK, or both?  What is the minimum voltage level required on VCC and/or VCCPACK in order to keep REG27 in regulation?

From this picture. it looks like we have plenty of headroom on VCCPACK (red waveform) and 12.0VB goes to VCC (blue waveform). You can see REG27 starts to fail well above what i'd expect. I do not see a good spec on the LDO inside the device for REG27...I need to understand if it runs from VCCPACK OR VCC or just VCC and what is the minimum voltage to maintain operation.  I do not see a clear spec here (same typo here VCC = VCCPACK ?)....even so it seems to say 3.8V works and my picture shows it failing before that on either rail feeding the chip.

Also, does shutdown condition also shutoff REG27?

It appears that the Recommended Operating Conditions table in the datasheet has a typo with regard to:

- Vshutdown; should this be VCC or VCCPACK, whichever is higher.

And in REG27 LDO table, VCC and VCC, should 2nd one be VCCPACK?

BQ27542-G1: Minimum battery capacity?

TI's selection guide for these parts specifies a minimum battery capacity of 100mAh. My application has a 60mAh battery.

What are the implications of using this part on a smaller capacity battery?

BQ27441-G1: Question regarding recommended Flowchart

$

Part Number:BQ27441-G1

Hello All,

I am implementing the recommended flowchart which is figure 3 of the QuickStart Guide. After some analysis, I have the following questions:

- The idea is that when QMAX and resistance profiles are updated, the host processor should store the values in non volatile memory. Then, when the configuration parameters are sent to the Gauge (fig 1), these two should be updated as well. Is this correct?

- Does it make sense that the system go from "Figure 1" to check QMAX flag? Should not it go directly to normal operation and then check if the values should be stored when the system entered/exited discharge and ITPOR != 1?

Thanks.

BQ34Z100-G1: bqStudio refuses to calibrate my gas gauge

Part Number:BQ34Z100-G1

I've gone through the design guide about 3 times now. I've no started over. I realized I had a resistor error since the applied charging voltage was higher then expected. I had to swap out some hardware and it bricked my last device so I had to wipe and start anew with the latest flash I've found on the forum.

The current issue is that I'm on Step 3 in the BQ24z100-g1 datasheet. I'm attempting to calibrate my voltage but I'm getting the error "Calibration - Calibration cell voltage entered is out of range. This value is in millivolts. Please check value and retry."

I've measured the battery voltage and attempted to type in the 17.4V that is applied. Am I missing something simple here?

Background Information:

The voltage divider is scaled on a 18.9V top end (based on the .1% resistors I have on hand).  Its 330k with a 16.5k bottom end. I followed the steps in the design guide. Starting from the beginning expect for changing Flash Update OK Cell Volt to 500mV so it'll just save everything as I update.

Here are the values I've changed so far:

Values Changed
Design Capacity13200mA
Design Energy19080mWh
Design Energy Scale10Number
LED_Comm0x33
Number of Series Cells4
Voltage Divider18900mV

My pack consists of 4x4 series NCR18650B cells, and I'm using the EV2300 to connect to my target board. I'm using bqStudio 1.3.54

BQ27532: wrong SoC after restart.

Good day, colleagues.

I have BQ27532 after learning cycle on my board.

It works pretty well (both in charging and discharging modes), but ...

After restart it always shows SoC = 99% despit of real charge level.

What may be wrong?

After the full charging (i.e. charging current is 0), it again behaves properly.

Have you observed such behaviour on your boards?

Thank you in advance.

Alexander.

Dear all,

We have a battery pack. 4 cells in series( battery guage IC BQ30z554R1). now we have few problems.

1). We can not chrging to 4.35V per cells(LiMo4 type).

2). When charging it from empty to full. It break off many times. the stop voltage is 14V ,15v, 15.5V etc.

3). When dishcharg it from full to empty. also it happend break off discharging. such as 14V ,15v, 15.5V etc.

What happend. I want to send my gg files to you. but I don't known how to attach it.

BQ34Z100-G1: bq34z100-g1 will sudden change after power-down and repower

$

Part Number:BQ34Z100-G1

Hi,

I have completed all of process inculding chemID and learning cycle and golden-image. Now the update status also become 06. Then I charge the battery to see the precision ,when the battery capacity is about 50%-SOC, I break down the power of BQ34Z100-G1, then I power on it, the SOC suddenly become 30%. Now the voltage and current shows that the battery is almost full-charged,but the SOC is 85%.

So, what should I do when the power is down? Why did SOC suddenly change?

Thanks!
