WEBENCH® Tools/BQ34Z100-G1: OCVTAKEN flag is not set after charging the battery ... .. in learning cycle.

Hello Everyone,

I am testing battery of type : lead acid :12v ,1.3 Ah.

i selected chem id :0803.

I updated the values required parameters for above set up in bqstudio.

After reaching taper current  i.e 170ma in my setting ... but FC bit not set

and i stopped  the charging the battery and waited for 2 hours to get the OCVTAKEN bit set but OCVTAKEN is not set after 2 hours relax.

i attaching  the datasheet of my battery and gg settings  and charging log.....please kindly verify  any mistakes and help me to complete the learning  cycle.

Hi,

I am trying to programm a new chemistry to my device (bq34z100-g1) but I am always obtaining the same error (Error code = 1470)

It can be seen in the next figure

I am using bqStudio 1.3.80. What can be happening?

I can not also write any parameters to bq34100-g1 flash. I always obtain the following error 

Could be due to the bqStudio version?

BQ34Z100-G1: QMAX and OCV Taken not getting set after discharge

Hi,

We are using a BQ34z100-G1 chip in my application.

We have previously qualified the battery as a CHEM ID 0808, max deviation 11.04% using the GPCTools.

After a successful charge cycle we have performed a discharge cycle at aprox C/5 rate.

ISSUE: After a long relax time, OCVTAKEN did not update. Consequently, we do not get a valid SOH update.

This same situation has occurred on other cycles and other batteries we have tested.

Can you please examine the attached log file and gg.csv file and provide and provide an explanation?

Hi, 

Im traying to develop a software in C# to create the ggfile... mostly looks well however i have problem get the CCGain... 

im getting these values in the Offset 0;  239, 3,34,5

Any idea?

BQ78350: Some queries about configuration of bq78350R1 : chemical-ID, QMAX, CEDV coefficients and learnning cycle.

I want  to use bq78350 and bq76920 to  design a gauge.

I  have read the use's manual of  bq78350,  but  I  have  some queries:

1、My battery  model  is NCR18650B which is a LiCoO2 battery.  Do  I  have to  change  the  chemical  ID？

2、bq78350  don't have a parameter of Q-max， should I configure  parameters  of  Design capacity mAh and  Design capacity cWh?

    What does  the unit cWh mean?

3、Should  I  have to  update  coefficients   used  for  the Compensated End-of-Discharge Voltage (CEDV) gas-gauging algorithm ?

4、When I use  bq27411,I  have to complete a learning cycle before  I  export  the production files,

Does a learning cycle also  required for  bq78350? If so, how can I  do  it?  And  how can I export  the  .srec file?

I am working on developing a board to do current calibration on bq40z50r2. Based on section 2.4.3 CC gain/capacity gain calibration in http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slua734a/slua734a.pdf

how do i convert the calculated CC and capacity gain into a value that can be written into dataflash where Icc can be discharging current with negative sign

BQEVSW: Using BQEVSW to confirm EV2400 FW Revision

Posting for a customer:

Is it possible to confirm the FW revision of an EV2400 using BqEVSW? 

Here is why I ask.  One of the requirements is to identify and document the firmware and its revision of the EV2400.  However it appears that the firmware revision can only de identified with bqStudio or the FW update tool.  Which means additional SW would need to be loaded on the test system that would not be used.  We can do this if it is the only way to get the FW revision but if there is a way to do it with bqEVSW that would be cleaner.

Your insight on FW revision confirmation of the EV2400 is greatly appreciated.

EV2400: The EV2400 not identified

My problem is related to using EV2400 with bqStudio. I have this EV2400 and works on my PC until just minutes ago. What happened was my colleague also has an EV2400 to work with a bqStudio on his laptop. Somehow his laptop could not recognize the EV2400, hence when he tries to open bqStudio, it always open up the window asking the user to select a device, i.e., not communicating. So I let my colleague to connect my EV2400 to his laptop and bqStudio. It still not recognized on his laptop. But now when I reconnect my EV2400 to my PC and open the bqStudio, my EV2400 is no longer recognized by my PC. Would you please advise how to remove the EV2400 driver? I think I may need to remove the EV2400 driver and reconnect the EV2400 to find and install the driver, and reinstall the driver update ? Any suggestions?

Thank you for your explantion in the related quastion.

The BQ27220's TRM refer to a 'wake up comparator' that can be operated with the 'operation config A' register with the bits: 'WAKE_EN', 'EK_TH1' and 'WK_TH0' .

But there is no explantion what configuration operate the comparator and with what thresholds.

I tried using the configurations mentioned in the bq27320 TRM but it dosent fit.
(I asuumed 'Iwake'='WAKE_EN', 'Rsns1'='EK_TH1', 'Rsns0'= 'WK_TH0'. Am I wrong?)

Do you have details for the threshold voltages and bits values of the comparator?

EV2400: The EV2400 not identified

I just submitted a question 15 minutes ago. Now I have a new finding. As I mentioned in previous question, I have an EV2400 that works with bqStudio on my PC. My colleague also has an EV2400 to connect to his laptop bqStudio. Somehow his setup does not work - every time he opens bqStudio, it always shows a window asking to select a device type. I let my colleague to my EV2400, he got the same non-communicating phenomenon. But now when I reconnect my EV2400 back to my PC, mine is not communicating too! I originally thought that was USB driver issue, but when I select a gauge type and eventually get to the bqStudio, I saw the USB icon not grayed out and showing V0.18. The USB communication seems OK. But the fuel gauge icons (the chip, the cell, and the dial below the USB icon) are all grayed out, i.e., the SMBUS is not communicating. I even tried to RESET EV2400 but pressing through the hole to the RESET switcn, and restart the Window 7. Nothing worked. It used to be working OK. Just after connecting to my colleague's laptop briefly, the SMBUS comm now is not working. 

Would you please let me know what is wrong and how to resolve it?

Hi there, 

I am having difficulty reading any form of data from the Battery Management chip BQ34Z100-G1.  All data i read back is zero for some reason.

I am connected to a battery to try to read from the chip, but no luck.  

I have purchased bq34z100EVM and also have no luck in reading from the device.

The commands i have tried are:

Voltage, Capacity, and Temperature.

Furthermore, for some strange reason the Capacity and Temerature have 3 bytes of data, I would like to confirm if this is possible.  the wave form is shown below.

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

Hello,

I am using a bq78z100 device on a custom board. I am trying to communicate with the device using I2C but the device never responds. (Is the device in sleep mode or do i need to follow a procedure to enable the i2c line?) I used the proposed schematic on the datasheet.

I am also using an I2C buffer with 10k pullup resistors on the lines. How can i understand the problem ? I can also share schematics and layout. I am pretty new with BMS systems. Explanatory and simple responds are expected.

Hello everyone,

I am testing  battery of type : lead acid : 12v ,1.3Ah.

In the process of discharging the battery ... is  current to be discharged to be constant?

as 1.3Ah battery--> 1.3 /7 =0.18 amps...but in my datasheet of battery ..it suggested discharging current to be 0.1465 amps for 7 hours .. so i  set a rheostat of 82 ohms ... 

But my discharging current gradually decreasing as a voltage drops  .....is this fine ?. is discharging current should be constant ?.

We are trying to lock down our chemistry profiles and I didn't want to overlook some areas of question.

Please explain how the following parameters are used in the BQ34Z100-G1 operation as I didn't find a good explanation in the specification.

Gas Gauging>IT Cfg> Cell Term V Delta  (is this added or subtracted from Cell Term V?)

Gas Gauging>IT Cfg> Cell Min DeltaV

Gas Gauging>State>  Cell Delta Voltage

Gas Gauging>IT Cfg> Fast Scale Start SOC

Gas Gauging>IT Cfg> Charge Hys V Shift

And Finally, Are the TCA Set and TCA clear values used in the Impedance tracking algorithm or are the purely just of "Alarm" flag set/reset only?
