BQ27441-G1: how to permamently set the battery parameter like capacity, energy?
Part Number:BQ27441-G1
Hi There,
Our design has successfully incoporated the gas gauge chip BQ27441-G1A. The chip seems working as it's supposed to be, but we've encountered an issue of setting the battery parameter.
As you know, in normal operations, only four parameters need to be revised for certain type of battery, which are battery capacity, engery, terminate voltage and taper current.
Our battery is 18650 made by LG INR18650, 2500mAh/3.6V. I've tried to change the upper mentioned four parameters in the data memory through bqStudio (EV2300). However, once the power to the chip is lost, the revised data will be reverted back the default, which is 1340mAh.
I also tried to generate a golden image and burn it to the chip. Same issue. Is there anyway to permanently revise the parameters even when the power to the chip is lost?
Thanks.
Lian
WEBENCH® Tools/BQ34Z100-G1: Not able to discharge battery for a cut off voltage ... it getting discharging early ...?
Part Number:BQ34Z100-G1
Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
Iam testing battery of type : lead acid --12v, 1.3 ah
as a procedure of learn cycle -- charging cycle -- charged the battery full.
in discharging --- for cut off voltage of 10.5v .. battery getting discharge in 2 hours for 2 hours .... if i leave for 7 hours ..it will drop to 0v.
I am attaching the datasheet of battery and please verify what should be the discharging current for 7 hours for cut off voltage --10.5v.
from the data sheet of battery i observed ---> for dischargng -- discharging ccurrent -0.1465 amps, .. so 12 /0.1465= 82 Ohms ... so i set 82 ohm rheostat .. is it fine ?
what is the charging termination conditions for full charge battery --> i set a taper current =170 ma .... is it right ...?at what current i should consider the battery is full iam unable to crack this condition through datasheet...
I am attaching the datashhet of battery , please check the datasheet kindly help me....due to i have a very less experience on battery related.(Please visit the site to view this file)

BQ78350-R1: Actions after boot
Part Number:BQ78350-R1
I have a system that has been build around the BQ78350-R1 and the BQ76940. I am using the high side switch driver BQ76200. My question is I want to be able to have both the charge and discharge fets turn on automatically (assuming no safeties have been tripped) when the device is booted, restarted etc. I believe I saw that this was possible in the tech reference but I am unable to find the setting again. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

BQ20Z655-R1: Update Status to 0x0E Problems
Part Number:BQ20Z655-R1
Hello,
I recently created a new golden file for a battery pack, but have been having consistent issues with the production cycle resulting in Update Status changing from 0x06 to 0x0E. This is required in this IC to enable balancing.
To get some preliminary questions out of the way:
1. The ChemID is good, chosen using GPC.
2. I successfully got to 0x0E when initially creating the Golden File by just doing a subsequent cycle after the initial learn, so I know it CAN do it.
3. The cycle meets all the criteria laid out for QMax update detailed in SLUU493A, except maybe offset error, but all my calculations put that well below 1% of Design Capacity.
4. I have tried the following two cycles on a mix of packs, all with varying results.
a. Starting at ~30%, CHG at C/5-ish to FC, rest 6 hours, DSG at C/5-ish to cutoff (well below term voltage), rest 6 hours, charge at C/2.75 to 30%.
b. Starting at ~30%, DSG at C/5-ish to cutoff (well below term voltage), rest 6 hours, CHG at C/5-ish to FC, rest 6 hours, DSG at C/5-ish to cutoff (well below term voltage), rest 6 hours, charge to 30%.
The 6 hour rests are to ensure the algorithm exceeds the 5-hour limit for the rest period.
Any suggestions are welcome.
BQ40Z50-R2: bq40z50-R2 / PCHG FET drive function
Part Number:BQ40Z50-R2
Hi,
Please let me ask PCHG FET drive function. I understand that bq40z50-R2 enter and exit PRECHARGE mode automatically by monitoring cell voltage and precharge current. Is my understanding correct? Then can host control PCHG FET anytime regardless cell voltage or charge current?
If it can do it, please let me know if you have any concern when the host control PCHG FET.

Hi all,
BQ78350-R1: "CHG off "when converter from discharge to charge
Part Number:BQ78350-R1
Dear TI,
I use BQ76920+BQ78350-R1 for 5S1P 18650 application.
When i use converter charge battery to 100% capacity as below
The CHG will turn off , then i enable discharge mode , the CHG will auto turn on as below picture
after few minutes, i set converter from discharge to charge mode,
the CHG will turn off and lock.
I don't know which protection be triggered?
Please help me to figure out and where can i modify this parameters/

Part Number:BQ78350-R1
Dear TI,
I use BQ76920+BQ78350-R1 for 5S1P 18650(SDI-18650-25R) application,
I want to set max voltage is 3900mV*5=195000mV and max discharge current is 20A, btw i have finished I,V,and T calibration as below,
Question 1:
Although i have set OCD=-22000mA, AOLD=0f, and ASCD=07, the window will show AOLD when BMS receive over -10000mA current information,
Question 2: about parameter of capacity setup
All setup of parameter values are correct?
Thanks & BR.

WEBENCH® Tools/BQ34Z100-G1: is current discharge should be constant ...
Part Number:BQ34Z100-G1
Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
hello every one ,
is battery discharging current should be constant ... when i discharging the battery , battery current decreases as voltage drops.....
my battery type : lead acid-12v, 1.3 Ah ,
so i am discharging battery with considerations: c/7 parameter-- as per my observation in datasheet -- discharge for 7 hours =0.165 , so R = 12/ 0.1465 =82 ohms....is this parameters right ..?
at what voltage discharge current should be constant ? i am attaching datasheet of battery and discharge log.

Hi
My query is with reference to a similar query ()
In my application i have a MCU to communicate to the BQ4050. My request is for someone to help dump the registers from the BQStudio software so that they can be made use of via the MCU firmware. I don't have the EV2400 so I am unable to make use of the Bqstudio myself.
Thanks for any help.
BQ40Z50: BQ40Z50R2 Full Charge Capacity not updated into the expected value
Part Number:BQ40Z50
Hi,
I have done a few full charge and discharge cycles on the battery with bq40z50r2, however the full charge capacity does not update into the value that it supposed to be. Its a 25.6Ahr battery but the full charge capacity always stay around 20Ahr only.
Attached is the .srec file for your reference. I have changed the extension into .cc, you may rename it into .srec afterwards. Could you please advice is there any configuration changes needed?
Thanks

BQ27421-G1: part not responding correctly to DEVICE_TYPE request
Part Number:BQ27421-G1
I am working with a C code implementation on bare metal with a NordicSemi BRF52832 part. I find the TI documentation for the commands to interface with the bq27421 confusing because
they use function api examples with unexplained parameters, and the psuedo code examples of sending a command and reading it do not work. So I am not confident that my command sequence that I am sending to the part is correct. But I have tried all types of permutations of what I can glean from the documents as to how send commands and get responses.
I am trying to send a CONTROL command followed by the DEVICE_TYPE command, but I get back nonsensical answers.
I have tried sending 0x00 0x02 0x00 and then reading the I2C bus for 2 characters which follows the psuedocode example, but get back garbage. (0x0BAE)
I have tried sending 0x00, 0x01, 0x02, 0x00 which is the full value of CMD_CONTROL and full value of the SUB command, but it is garbage (0x0000)
I have confirmed that I am writing to the correct bus address (0x55) for this part, and am testing in isolation (no other I2C devices are being accessed.
I also toggled the GPIO on startup and set the gpio to an input on the MCU, so it is not floating.
There is power to the device, and 3.9 volts from the battery are supplied to SRX
I cannot find the source code the documentation uses to describe I2C read/write operations. I pulled the linux kernel code, but this is not very helpful because it uses 8 bit registers to load 1 byte of the commands which are all described as 2 bytes so it is not helping with the symantic of these 2 byte command definitions and examples from the docs. I modeled my programming symantic after the linux kernel example by doing a I2C write followed by a I2C read in a transaction, and tried putting delays between the write and read with no luck.
This is such a simple thing on I2C devices, but the TI semantic for this simple operation seems complex. What am I missing?
