BQ34Z100: BQ34Z100 Design Procidure (Design Capacity, Design Energy settings and Golden Learning)

Part Number:BQ34Z100

Along the same lines - I have some similar  questions regarding the BQ34z100:

1.      Can you provide us with an example golden file for the BQ34Z? The cell that we will be using is INR18650_F1L (Li-ion) and GP210AAHCB (NiMh), both cell data sheets are attached. Can you please check and confirm if you already have the Chem ID and the golden file for these cells?. If not, what is the process of getting the files?

2.      Does the Gauge require to do a calibration over time to main the SOC accuracy?, does it need host intervention?

3.      In the flags() status register, what action is expected from the host if the condition flag (CF) is set?

4.      The Rsense that we are currently using is 20mohm, is it OK or do we need to change it for better accuracy?

5.      Will it be possible to send me an eval kit for the EV2400 interface so I can monitor and configure the different values in the golden file?

Hi

I have very simple question for Current measure for  Min Current Unit.

We thinking measure current  until 30A ,  Yes this is very high Current .

[ Question  ]

What is min current unit  when  30A current measure  ??

Yes , we want to know  measure current resolution .

   1mA  or 10mA  or ????

Sorry ... very simple question.

Part Number:BQ35100

Hi Team, I planned to put BQ35100 on a new board I'm drawing to monitor a single cell  LS17330 (3.6V Primary lithium-thionyl chloride) that drains 100uA to maintain some backup information, to know when to change it. On the board there is a microcontroller that reads the I2C bus.

Where I can find a detailed procedure or better psuedo source code to:

a) In production phase, when the board is assembled performs the calibration procedure?

b) then when the board is working on, know the battery gauge and EOS?

Hi team,

My customer is using BQ78350 now, and find the current hasn't reached the threshold but SOC think it's 100%.

The threshold is 1.62A,  from the software threshold is default 250mA.

could you please help check it?

BQ40Z60: bq40z60 single cell discharge

Part Number:BQ40Z60

Hi all,

I have a fuel gauge pcb using the bq40z60. It's a 3 cell design and I've found a board where the cell under voltage (CUV and CUVC.)  Cell1 and Cell 2 have a voltage of 3.50V and 3.52V respectively, but Cell 3 has a voltage of 0.8V. I checked the cell voltages on bqstudio, measured the cells directly and desoldered the cells to read the same values.

This is the first time I've seen this, does anybody have any suggestions? I'm aware there was a problem a few years ago where Cell 1 would constantly discharge, but I am unaware of how that was resolved. Is either problem due to cell balancing?

Thanks!

BQ40Z60: bq40z60 AFEC flag set

Part Number:BQ40Z60

Hi All,

I'm using a bq40z60 in my battery pack. I've had a failure where the unit stops charging and discharging and the AFEC permanent fail flag is set high. I understand that AFEC is an AFE communications failure between the analogue front end and the MCU. How can I identify what is triggering this and what is the best way to prevent it? Are there ways to mitigate these issues? Is it better to just turn this failure mode off altogether if there is nothing I can do to prevent it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

BQ35100: Data Flash Read and Write

Part Number:BQ35100

Hello,

I am trying to read and write sections of the flash for configuration during manufacturing.

Looking at Section 12.1 of the Technical Reference Manual SLUUBH1B, it appears that I should be able to write anywhere from 1-32 bytes.

I have tried writing a single byte to Operation Config A (0x41B1), but haven't got it working.

My I2C commands look like (trying to change Config A from 0x82 to 0x00):

Reading Flash: Setup Write to 0x55, 0x3E, 0xB1, 0x41.  Setup Read to 0x55, 0x82, 0xF3, 0x09, 0x00

Write Flash: Setup Write to 0x55, 0x3E, 0xB1, 0x41, 0x00. Setup Write to 0x55, 0x60, 0x0D, 0x05.

Read is working as I expect. I don't get any errors on write, but the flash isn't updated.

I have BQstudio and can change settings using that software, but need to setup chip configuration without Bqstudio for production use. I did see the option to export flash images from BQstudio, but how are those loaded onto the chip over i2c from another device?

Any help is much appreciated!

BQ35100: Problem in SOH mesure

Part Number:BQ35100

I'm using bq35100 to manage 1 battery cell CR123A, with bqstudio 1.3.54.1 version. Each time I take a SOH measurement the value drops by 2% of full scale, but the batteries have not actually drained by 2%. I´ve put a 100mA load, and doesn't matter if I wait 1 minute or 1 hour to mesure the battery charge, it will always drops 2%.

Do you have any idea what's going on here?

Linux/BQ27441-G1: temperature isse

Tool/software: Linux

Hello

We are using the bq27441 fuel gauge (yocto linux OS)

When reading the temperature using sysfs interface we see values ranging from ~350 to ~450.

How are we supposed to translate these values into celcius degrees?

In the datasheet it says that the value is in 0.1K - this makes no sense with the values we are reading.

Could you please assist?

Thanks,

Tamar

What is the tolerance of the BAT pin.

We used 12V supply with 3 of 10k resistors to simulate the 3 cell stack. The voltage calibration on the Gas Gauge Evaluation Software show it is measured at 11.980V. How this calibration voltage is measured? Is it a sum of all individual cell voltage or is it a measurement of BAT input?

Thanks.

BQ28Z610: 2S battery with no balance connector config

Part Number:BQ28Z610

It would seem as though this configuration can only handle up to 5V with VC1 tied to VC2.  The datasheet in section 7.3 Shows VIN (VC1) = VSS to VSS+5V.

I am trying to do this very setup with a 2S1P 4.2V/cell.  It is an external battery which does not have the cell balancing terminal.

The Bat Pin voltage and Pack Pin voltage are reading correctly, however, The voltage measurement (register 0x08/0x09) goes to zero when the pack voltage reaches > 6V.

Thoughts?

BQ28Z610: 2S1P system (not pack) application

$

Part Number:BQ28Z610

Hello,

I am using the BQ28z610 in a system (not pack) application.  The battery is external to the main PCB which has the gauge on it.  The pack already has charge/discharge protection therefore I'm not using any of the pack protection elements so the schematic is simplified.  Schematic attached.  The pack is 2S1P configuration 8.4V (4.2V/cell) 600mAh.  The battery will be embedded in the device and is not user replaceable.

The Battery voltage gauge in BqStudio always shows 0V and Cell 1 voltage and Cell 2 voltage are always 0, but Bat pin voltage and Pack pin voltage are correct.

I have disabled any protections in the protections registers, since I don't need them.  I have also raised the limits on the over-voltage and under-voltage protection.  I have cleared the CC0 bit to enable "single cell" mode.  I have also disabled balancing.

If I use an external power supply to drive a little voltage to the pins instead of using the battery, I get a good voltage reading when less than 6V.  When the supply is set to > 6V, then BQstudio shows 0V as the voltage in registers 0x08/0x09.

Picture of the schematic is attached.  Is this device just not capable of such a configuration or is it just a matter of getting the register configuration correct?

I have followed the recommendation in this thread:
