I further observed the effects of the BMS Chip and Charger mode and DSG Gate waveforms, and found that the Chrager action has absolute influence.

I tried several modes of testing. (See the attached file charger modetest results),Whether the Gate uses a Diode or a resistor, this voltage will be affected as the Charger is turned on or off.

These tests may be helpful in analyzing the problem, and attaching the PCB layout of this Project, can you provide suggestions?

           I am studying Rom Gauge (bq27426), this different with flash gauge.

           I want to make golden  image for bq27426, could you give me some command for  optimized golden image  like below ? or do you have relative document for reference ?

           1. program the latest gmfs file

           2.Program correct Chem id

           3.Before learning, what command I should send ? which flag I should check ?

           4.After learning, what flag or what EPPROM data(like update status,Qmax......) I should check.

           

BQ78350-R1: BQ78350-R1 alert pin waveform

Dear TI expert,

I use bq76920 + bq78350-r1 for 5S1P application,

I have a question about "Alert" waveform,

Is it all high means normal status and all low means any error be triggered? or continuous high/low waveform means error be triggered?

I monitor alert pin waveform in below situation, all of them have the same waveform(continuous high/low)

1. BMS BOOT ON

2. Charge mode

3. Discharge mode

Below is charging status from TI GUI software window, and i check register status no one is alarm information.

I want to use Alert signal for detecting battery status and control my PSU operation, so i have to figure out this Alert pin all operation waveform.

BQ40Z50-R1: Mistake on technical reference manual

Hi!
There is an issue about Technical Reference sheet. When you look at the Settings > Configurations > Fet Options is 20 hex which means 5th bit is high in default settings. But the technical reference manual (page 127)  shows that the 5th bit is low as default on description line. But when you look at the hex number and bqstudio software default values shows us the 5th bit is high. How should I decide to set or reset this bit ?

Also I have another question that which way is easy and tried to create a new data flash for a bq40z50-r1 with 4s battery pack ?

BQ35100: Battery Low Warning at Zero Second Set Time

Hi,

My main question: I would like to know if it possible to detect BatteryAlert()[BATLOW] within time less than 1s in bq35100? The nearest to 0s the better. If it possible then how?

My test result:

  • Using: custom board with bq35100, EV2400, logic analyzer for i2c communication and oscilloscope for Alert signal
  • BatLow Voltage Set Threshold range is from 1s to 60s. the bqstudio dose not allow for higher value than 60s, but I only care for value less than 1s
  • I tried BatLow Voltage Set Threshold = 1s and it work as expected
  • Then I tried BatLow Voltage Set Threshold = 0s and the BatteryAlert()[BATLOW] did not set !! even I wait for more than 10s!!

we are designing a system with an battery and dc power supply, the dc-power in is 5V, battery is one cell need charge.  the power rail on board is 3.3v@850mA,  5v@2A, 1.8V@50mA;

if DC-IN exist, the power should come from DC-IN, after remove DC-IN, the power is from battery. could you help recommend a solution?

BQ34Z100-G1: learning cycle problem with NiMH battery pack

Good morning,

I'm using the BQ34Z100-G1 in a MiMH battery pack (24S1P configuration).

I've tried to repeat twice the learning cycle procedure for creating the golden file, but I have a problem after the charging and relaxation phase: the Udate Status doesn't switch to 05.

To be honest, it is not so clear from any documentation how to apply the learning cycle to a NiMH battery pack. For example, the NiMH batteries does not require the CC-CV charging method, so I didn't apply it. The BQ34Z100-G1 in fact has other criteria for detecting the charge termination (e.g. dT/dt and negative dV/dt) that can be applied to a normal CC charging method. So I performed the learning cycle by following a CC charging phase (at C/5). During my learning cycle the BQ34Z100-G1 detects the full charge, OCVTAKEN properly switch to 1 during relaxation and Vok to 0. But the Update Status doesn't switch to 05 and QMAX Cell 0 parameter is fixed to the original set value.

I have the suspect the learning cycle must always been performed with a CC-CV charging method, but I haven't find any explanation about that in any documentation. In fact in my CC charging phase I've noted the BQ34Z100-G1 detect the full charge when SOC=100% (I think when the passed charge equals the Qmax value), but after that my charghing phase still go ahead for many time, because the dT/dt termination condition is still far. So at the end the total charge forced into the batery during the charging phase is much more than the nominal value (i.e. the original value set for Qmax Cell 0). Could this be a problem?

Can anybody help me with this issue? I need some suggestions for performing the learning cycle on my NiMH battery pack.

Hey

I'm using the BQ27530EVM board along with the EV2400, bqstudio(1.3.54.1) and a 1400mAh battery.

I have tried to power it from both the USB port and from the J2 input with a 5V 3A power supply, both fuel gauge and charger is enabled on the board but the battery doesn't get charged.

The Bit registers is currently as seen in the picture:

I also seen to can't find the "learning cycle" tab?

EV2400: EV2400 not recognized

My new EV24400 does not work - it is not recognized by any PC.  We have another EV2400 board that works fine on all of the same PCs. This new device is not recognized by Windows - the OS doesn't make a sound and nothing appears under Device Manager on connection. All of the LED's on the EV2400 are lit as expected. We have verified it is not a cable problem using the functioning EV2400.

BQ27GDK000EVM: Calibration of Charge/Discharge Current

I am attempting to follow the instructions in sluu904A for the bq32z100EVM and slua334b for preparing optimized flash constants. I am using the GDK to charge and discharge my batteries but the current reported through the GDK interface does not match the current reported by the gas gauge.

I was able to successfully calibrate the bq32z100EVM after following the instructions here () and downloading the new BQStudio. 

I set a discharge current of 1250 mA and the gas gauge reports a ~750mA discharge. If I connect a DMM in series with the GDK, the same 1200 mA target discharge only reports ~250 mA by the gas gauge and matches with the DMM.

What can I do to either calibrate the GDK or increase the accuracy of the charge and discharge currents?

BQ28Z610: Can't activate charge

Hello, 

I am trying to configure BQ28z610 to charge/discharge 2 cell series battery but can't seem to set the "CHG" & "DSG" bits.

Battery Information: APR18650M1 batteries (1100mAh)

Max Voltage: 7.2V

Chemistry has been done, as well as calibration.I could get it to work if I go through BQstudio and toggle CHG_FET_TOGGLE & DSG_FET_TOGGLE but when I reset it, it'll stop working. 

I've attached GG file.
