LM25088: Negative Voltage Output Current Limit

Hey all,

So I used the TI Webench design tool for the LM25088-1 for an input voltage of 12V to -7V output with 2A current.  I created the following schematic:

Here is the board layout:

On power up, the voltage is correct at -7V and works up to loads of -300mA but at any higher load, it immediately current limits (my assumption) and the output goes to -1V. This is a part of a larger power supply test PCB so the voltages and currents can be tested. Did I do something incorrectly? Is the layout an issue in this case?

My customer reported that the output voltage of REF5050 is 4V under -40C temp, could you please suggest the possible reasons?

I checked the input voltage is 6.6V and the load current is 0.35mA under -40C, it's not low dropout problem. Here are the application circuit.

Hi E2E,

I am using LM5085 with Webench.

VIn = 6 - 75V. The goal is to make a power supply for 12, 24, 48V batteries.
Vout = 4.2V
Iout = 2A

M1 = ZXMP10A18K
D1 = SBRD10200TR

The circuit works when there is no load but with a load of 2A the LM5085 stops runnning or don't work with VIN > 20V.

Can you help to resolve this issue?

LM5122: LM5122 no output

  • I used LM5122 to design a product, as shown in the schematic diagram.I'm debugging now, but I find LM5122 no output.
  • And VCC is 7.5V, BST is 23.4V. And Input voltage is 13V. It seems normal.
    • Is there any problem with my schematic?

BQ35100EVM-795: Unable to set EOS mode via bqStudio Advanced Comm

I am not able to set EOS mode following the Advanced Comm Data Flash example in section 3 of slua790 (Using I2C Communications)

My setup is EV2400, bq35100EVM and bqStudio (v1.3.54.1).

The fuel gauge is initially in the default Accumulator mode.  Reading and writing Operation Config A (as shown in the example) appear to succeed.  After the write, I perform another read to ensure EOS mode has been set.  The result indicates that the fuel gauge is still in Accumulator mode (still 0x80 instead of 0x82).

A screen capture of that read-write-read process is attached.

 

Note that the eval setup is working, as I'm able to set EOS mode using the red/green cell UI of the Data Memory tab.


BQ35100: Power consumption while device disabled

Hi,

I am using BQ35100 in my design to monitor a single cell LiSoCl2 battery. I measured that the current consumed by BQ35100 when GE=0 is around 40uA, with a 600uA peak every one second. As per datasheet,the current consumption during GE=0 should be 50nA. I have isolated all other parts in the circuit to ensure the power consumed is by BQ35100. Can anyone please help me to understand what am i missing here?

BQ78Z100: BQ78Z100 cannot returns to Normal mode from Shutdown mode

Our company has made 4000pcs battery pack with bq78z100. In order to reduce power consumption, before the battery is shipped, enter shutdown mode.

When we sampled the battery, we found that 6pcs of the battery could not exit shutdown mode. And I setting Charger present Threshold 3000mV.

Now it is suspected that the bad battery did not enter shutdown mode completely, because the bad battery, after sending the shutdown command, the voltage of the Pin10 FBI chip is about 7V, which is the same as the Pack voltage. After entering shutdown normally, the voltage of the Pin10 FBI chip should be zero.

Can someone give me some good advice?

Hi,

For the external adapter application as the picture below

1. If TPS2378 get power source only from external 12V adapter, then TPS2378 get 12V at VDD and about 1.5V at APD, is those voltage could make TPS2378 turns off internal hot swap MOS?

2. If yes, then what is the minimum VDD and APD voltage could make internal hot swap MOSFET tures off?

(what is the minimum voltage for external adapter )

3. What is the exactly condition for APD function? Only APD voltage above 1.5V? Or need VDD for internal logic usage?

TPS5420: Constant current output via sense current feedback

Is it possible to get stable operation of the TPS5420 buck converter by measuring the output current via a sense resistor and MAX4372H current sense amplifier (for example), and feeding the output voltage to the VSENSE pin? What type of compensation network would be required to make this work? I've looked through the datasheet examples and the SLVA237C Application Report regarding stability with ceramic and aluminum output capacitors, but I am having some trouble translating this information for use with a current sense amplifier in the feedback loop.


BQ24232H: Can I use bq24232H for 3.8V Li Ion Battery?

I find myself required to do a little "sideways" engineering.  I must intercept the battery charger / power management on an existing product, from China no less.  The existing product has a battery labelled 3.8V Li Ion, 13.3Wh.  When fully charged and not under load, it reads higher than 4.25V.  I haven't done any LI Ion battery charging in the past.  Can I use the BQ24232H for this?  Can I test with the BQ24232HEVM-608 ?

What is the formula for converting the case temperature to the junction temperature?

  • Tj = θja x Pd + Ta or Tj = Ψjt x Pd + Tc
  1. θja: Thermal resistance [°C / W]
  2. Ψjt: Thermal resistance between package top center[°C / W]
  3. Pd: Power consumption [W]
  4. Ta: Ambient temperature [°C]
  5. Tc: Package Top Center Temperature [°C]
Is this formula correct? If so, how do I apply # 1 and # 2?

Application note shows that Css(soft start) needs to be set to at least the same values as the Czv capacitor or larger.

Please let me know the reason. if Css is set smaller than Czv, what can be problems?
