BQ77915: BQ7791500

Part Number:BQ77915

Hi,

I'm using the AFE chip BQ7791500 for a 48V BMS system. There are 3 chips cascaded (as per the data sheet connection recommendations) to achieve this configuration. The cell voltages are reaching the ICs and are well within the required range. I ran a low current discharge to test the UV cutoff. When the cell voltages hit 2.9V, the DSG MOSFETs cutoff (CHG MOSFET still ON). However on load removal, the DSG MOSFETs did not turn back ON. Plus, when I connected the charger, the battery pack was not being charged even with CHG MOSFETs being ON for all the time. As far as I know, for charging the battery pack, DSG MOSFETs needn't be ON and CHG MOSFETs should be ON. Please let me know what could be the issue?

Thanks in advance!

UCC28950: PMP8740 pulse generation issue

Part Number:UCC28950

Hi,

I was trying to develop PMP8740 2KW full bridge dc-dc converter. But currently, bypassing the control card used by TI.

I have completed the power section and it is working well with external PWM signals.

Now I want to run it with UCC28950 on the board. But when I am trying to turn it on it is not producing any gate pulses.(the Current transformer is not attached, means ct+ and ct- are kept open )

I have checked the basic condition to turn on.

Vdd pin voltage > UVLO

SS/EN capacitor voltage >0.55 V(around 4.5V is coming)

The 5V ref is available and temp <140 degrees.

still, it is not producing pulses.

So what are the minimal requirements to turn it on(tested with no load)?

whether CT is mandatory to turn it on?

Regards.

Nidheesh.

Hello,

One of my section uses a circuit shown in following figures.

1) With V1 = 24V  and VCC = 5V, I am getting 5.49V at anode of D1 as shown below.

2) With V1 = 5V  and VCC = 24V, I am getting 4.5V at anode of D1 as shown below.

I ma not getting what's the purpose of D1?

Please guide me for the same

BQ25504: BQ25504 - MPPT and OCV issue

Part Number:BQ25504

Hi,

I had made custom PCB for BQ25504  and asked fabrication vendor to fabricate PCB for me.

I also make sure i followed all guidelines from the datasheet PCB layout recommendation.

BQ25504 chip i bought are from element14 "https://sg.element14.com/texas-instruments/bq25504rgtt/battery-charger-li-ion-qfn-16/dp/2144306?scope=partnumberlookahead&ost=2144306&searchref=searchlookahead&exaMfpn=true&ddkey=https%3Aen-SG%2FElement14_Singapore%2Fw%2Fsearch"

I tested my 2 PCB boards with same harvesting source and both of my boards have all same components.

My issues are as follows:

Board 1:

- When i measure input voltage to PM, i found out that OCV and MPPT 90% seems ok. However, after OCV sampling, input voltage keep dropping and creating saw tooth pattern. I have tested BQ25504 evaluation boards before and if i recall correctly, after OCV sampling the voltage should remain that level until next OCV sampling, right?

- So going down like that, is it a problem? What could be the possible issue?

Board 2:

- Then i test my board 2, which has the exact same components as well as same input source with board 1.

- I noticed board 2, OCV doesn't even close to 2V, whereas, board 1 OCV is ~2.4V.

- Besides OCV difference, board 2, MPPT seems to be way off too. I set it to be 90%, as like i did for board 1.

For both of the board, I make sure that during both testing, VBAT voltage is pre-charged to abotu 2.4V to avoid cold start state.

I will really appreciate if you can suggest me regarding with above mentioned issues i encounter. Thank you.

Regards,

LB

Part Number:BQ24650

Hai, I made a board for BQ24650 to be used as charge controller for my 12V lead acid battery. i used the design from the pdf #SLUU444A and made changes for lead acid battery from #SLVA437A.

I gave a common ground for all, but in #SLUU444A they use an Earth Ground and also a common marked as 1.

will that be the reason my circuit is not working?

i can upload my schematics and PCB design

TPS63060: TPS63060 Switch Off Issue

Part Number:TPS63060

Hello,

We have used TPS63060 Buck Boost in our designs. Please refer the below attached picture of the Buck Boost and LDO section of the design.

We are using switch for the Enable Pin To Enable/Disable the Buck Boost Convertor.

The issue is that even when the button is not pressed (enable is getting ZERO vtg) the buck boost convertor gives vtg of 0.661 V and the ULDO gives 1.064 V. (Vbat is 6V)

This voltage is not ideal as this causes current consumption as checked of 520 uA. This leads to low battery life.

Ideally when the enable is Low the o/p voltage should be 0V.

What can be done.

Thanks,

Ameya

TPS2121: Using TPS2121 as a reverse polarity protection circuit

$

Part Number:TPS2121

Hi,

I intend to use two power sources (a 9V battery and 4 AA cells) as the inputs to my system. The 9V battery will be used only as a backup when the Alkaline batteries dry out. The TPS2121 will make sure that the 9V battery does not cause charging of the Alkaline cells when both are connected simultaneously. Only one source will power the system at a time. I also need to implement reverse polarity protection for both the sources. Does the TPS2121 offer that function? I am currently using an external MOSFET circuitry for the same. Power conservation is a priority and thus power drops across diodes are to be strictly avoided.

Thanks!

LM25085: LM25085 Circuit heating up

Part Number:LM25085

Hi,

We have used LM25085 in our design with these specs:

V_in: 24V ( 120W)

V_out: 9V

Current Draw: 5A

Please see attached WEBENCH Design Report.

The issue we are facing is that our board heats up a lot when we try to draw 5A current @ 9V. The temperatures at the inductor and the diode reach up to 85-90 deg C. I cannot share our schematics and layout in this public forum. Please let us know what you think is a probable cause.

Hi,

I am facing problem in EM1402EVM balacing Demo code which works with GUI but it hangs, many peoples are facing problemwith it( http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-TMS570BMS   )

I am looking to solve problem there and trying to work with other example which is here ( www.ti.com/.../TIDA-00817  )    but it is for 16 cell battery pack. I have only one board and it has 8 cells. So what changes i have to make in that code. Little help with this will save our time so we can go for production as early as possible.

Please help us to resolve the issue.

BQ4050: Measure low currents

$

Part Number:BQ4050

Hello,

My question is about sensing low currents (For coulomb counter):

- Battery – LiFePO4 – 1.1Ah.

- Charge current – 100mA.

- Discharge current - 100uA .

- If i use  Rsense of 0.5 Ohm:

- In charge Vsense= 50mV.

- In discharge Vsense= 50uV.

As I Understand from the datasheet (table 6.14), the minimum Sense Voltage is 3.71uV. So I can measure 50uV (If it is correct,  I can measure 100uA and 100mA with the same Rsense).

In this case  coloumb counter function will operate with error of 3.71uv/50uv = 7.42%  (In the discharge period).

Is it right?

Best Regards,

Arkadi

BQ25890H: Input current limit&Output current(SW)&Fast charging current

$

Part Number:BQ25890H

Hi Ti,

I have two questions about BQ25890H.

1. What the relationship between Input current limit, output current(sw)  and fast charging current?

According to my understanding, if Vin=9V and Input current limit set to 3A. So charger has 27W input, then it should can have 27*90%=24.3W output power if limitation of output has not been reached. Will the 24.3W be divided into both system output and battery? Or it will be limited to 5A totally, which include both system loading current and battery charging current?

2. The default input current limit is 500mA. I am worried about whether it is enough for system power up. Can I use a resistor smaller than 200 ohm to short D+/D- to let BQ25890 recognize that a DCP connected? Will BQ25890 change input limit current to 3.25A quickly and automatically?

Thanks!

cheers
