LMG3411R050: Reliably splitting a single PWM signal into two complementary PWM signals with dead time for GaN fet Half Bridge (600V)

Part Number:LMG3411R050

Hi,

I was going through the article that was written on ti website about using a single pwm to control two GaN fets in a half bridge configuration with dead time here .

I also read that when using RC timed systems, we have to be careful about the degradation of capacitance over temperature and time. here

My application is in a home appliance that will go into widespread production. Even though temperature based degradation is not a concern for me (That being said, the temperature of the system can rise up to 60 deg C inside .).

But, I am wondering if aging due to time can, in fact, cause failures due to a gradual degradation of dead time and eventual shoot through events.

My questions are these to summarize :

How badly does aging due to time affect ceramic capacitors and should i be concerned while designing this board?

Are there any other reliable ways to have a complementary PWM with a single input?

How have the Ti Eval boards done so far in this setup so far?

Regards,

Tony

TPS5430: Output overshoot

Part Number:TPS5430

Dear Team,

My customer is trying to build a design with TPS5430 to supply a pulsed load (actually a GPRS modem) which can draw up to 2A from almost no current levels. I have checked the schematics and it is looking OK. Layout is not perfect, but looks good.

According to Webench simulation, output voltage overshoot should be a little higher then 3.9V when the output voltage is set to 3.8V, but the customer sees overshoot exceeding 4.2V. Inductor value is 33uH and cap is 220uF electrolityc. I was not able to reach out the datasheet to see ESR. Tantalum caps are recommended on the datasheet. Could a standard electrolytic cap with high ESR cause such a big overshoot?

I can send the schematics and layout via email if needed.

Best Regards,

Caglar

LM3281: LM3281 replacement with an easier to solder package? Cant solder DSBGA. QFN would be okay.

Hi,

Can you please help me, I'm looking for DC-DC converter replacement for LM3281. This IC is perfect for my wireless application but I can't physically solder the chip on! I don't mind a QFN or any other package but not this IC because it has DSBGA. Are there any similar parts out there that have a better package and are good for wireless application?

Thanks!

BQ40Z50-R2: Tolerance of SW protection's delay time

Part Number:BQ40Z50-R2

Hi,

In regards to the related thread about detection delays of software protections such as OCD and OCC, is the detection delay (tolerance) documented somewhere? If not, could they be documented/specified in the datasheet for instance?

It is important for us to refer to a document (rather than a forum thread) when testing these features of the IC and the design that uses it.

Thanks,

Roberto

BQ30Z554-R1: SHA-1 HMAC not working

$

Part Number:BQ30Z554-R1

Hi,

I have an bq30z55 that I need to unseal and program it. Because I don't have any EV2300 or 2400 I'm trying to do this from a Raspberry PI 3 B+ with it's I2C bus and a C code wrote by myself from the SHA1 example I found on the site for MSP430. Also there is no need for an investment in an EV2300 since this will de done one time only. So after I'm setting up the I2C bus and address I'm sending 0x31 to 0x00 and I'm reading the random challenge send by the device from 0x2F. I'm computing the HMAC 2 times as specified in SLUA359 and SLU389a (of course keeping in mind about the LSB in the random message sent by BQ). Also the function was tested against the example given in SLUA389a and the output of the SHA-1 matches the result in the document. Yet, when I'm trying to unseal the device, it isn't working. I will attach the binary logic dump from the logic analyzer. They can be imported in sigrok for the whole i2c session. The key is the default 0x0123456789abcdeffedcba9876543210. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Thanks,

Ciprian

BQ25890: 0x0B Bit 1 is 1 and no ADC voltage for VBUS

Part Number:BQ25890

Hello,

I am having an issue with my BQ25890.  The device reports the correct voltage for VBAT (0x0E) but will not charge the battery when I connect 5V supply via USB to VBUS.  This is a USB cable with no data lines, but the same happens when I use a cable with D-/D+.  Register 0x11 has value B00000000.  Do you have any troubleshooting steps I can follow?  There are no faults in the fault register and I have followed system example in figure 59.

Thank you.

How to design a Hyper Ultra Low noise Power supply?

$

Hi,

I want to design a Hyper Ultra Low noise Power supply for ±10..15V, 30mA.
But the tests I have done always end up in at least 200uVrms of noise.
If I instead measure the noise on a battery I get <20uVrms (my instrument can't measure lower than that).

So how can I get the same noise performance from an electronic power supply as from a battery?
It should be possible, right?

What are the main sources for noise in these designs?
Are there some type of components to avoid?
Or is it just to add as many capacitors as possible? (I have tried that but with minor success.)

Thanks in advance,
/Sören

Part Number:TPS24771

Hi,

I went through the datahseet and I didn't find information about the EP (exposed Pad) electrical connection to the board.

Should it be tied to Ground? VCC? nothing?

Help will be really appreciated

Thanks in advance,

The figure of MOS in Fig. 6 of application note SLYY151 is wrong.

It is not NMOS but PMOS.

Please correct.

TPS61196: Definition of 'Iout'

Part Number:TPS61196

I find some 'Iout' on the calculation formula of datasheet.
I use two pieces of TPS61196.
And I will flow 12string of LED by using 'multi-chip operation in parallel (Figure22.)'.
What value is IOUT when I flow 100mA per 1string? (1200mA? 600mA?)

TPS61088EVM-677: the board can't output more than 2A current

Part Number:TPS61088EVM-677

the tps61088 evm board can't output more than 2A current, I just changed the feedback resistor to achieve 5V boot to 11V, when load is heavy, output voltage is not correct, and also pull down the input voltage to 3V, and the board make noise, my input power is DC regulated voltage and can output more than 10A, so what is reason resulting in this problem?

Part Number:LP5024

Hi Sir,

Please refer our design set up as below:

– VCC Range: 2.7 V to 5.5 V

– EN, SDA, and SCL Pins Compatible With 1.8-V, 3.3-V, and 5-V Power Rails

Condition 1:

VCC=VLED=5V

VMCU=3.3V

I2C level =3.3V

=>CPU can write through I2C

Condition 2:

VCC=VLED=5V

VMCU=1.8V

I2C level =1.8V

=>CPU can't write through I2C

May I have your comment about why condition 2 can't use CPU to write through I2C?

Thank you for your kindly help.
