TLC5926: Clock width time

Part Number:TLC5926

Hello,

I'm using the TLC5926IPWPR in a design. The TLC5926IPWPR chip is on a separate PCB than the MCU that is controlling it. The Clock and SDO pin must go through a cable about a 1ft long. I want to clock this as fast as possible, and I wanted to get TI's opinion on my clock signal. The cable is affecting it quite a bit and I wanted to make sure I meet the minimum requirements, as this design will go into large quantitty production and I don't want 1 in 1000 units to loose a bit or something.

Also note that I have two of the TLC5926IPWPR cascaded.

Here is my clock without the cable from the MCU IO pin:

Here is my clock with the cable:

If I measure the time between the threshold of 0.7*Vdd and 0.3*Vdd, I get about 18nS. Is this the right way to measure the clock width requirement? It's the same time if I measure from 50% of Vdd as well.

Questions:
1) If the max clock is 30MHz, why is the min clock width 20ns? Shouldn't it be (1/30MHz)/2 = 16.67ns or less?

2) My clocks rise time is well under the maximum, but what about the clock width requirement of 20ns min? Is my clock sufficient?

3) Any ideas on how to clean this up so it matches the requirements better at 30MHz?

4) Does TI have a schmitt trigger or something that could clean the signal up from the MCU to meet the requirements?

The chips are working great and I don't see any issues, but one unit is hardly a valid test of that.

Thanks for any help.

TPS22917: External pull-down for ON pin?

Part Number:TPS22917

Hi,

The TPS22917 datasheet says that the ON pin has an internal Smart Pull Down that pulls the ON pin down when it is not driven, negating the need for an external pull-down. The Pin Functions table in the same datasheet also states to not leave this pin floating.

Which is it?

LM2596: Increase fixed voltage by 0.3v

Part Number:LM2596

I designed a PCB using the LM2596S-5.0v, hoping that it would be close enough to drive a Raspberry Pi.. but the voltage output is at the low end, 4.8v per the datasheet.  Is there any easy way to bump the output voltage slighly so that it's closer to 5.1v?  It's connected exactly per the schematic.

BQ24618: What is minimum difference between Vin and Vout?

Part Number:BQ24618

I am thinking BQ24618 as a charger for 3-cell battery (12.6V), and BQ24618 datasheet tells it's BUCK converter. I tried to find what the Vin minimum to fully charge 3-cell battery, but unfortunately I could not find such parameter in datasheet; the typical application in datasheet uses 19V for 3-cell, 19V is too high for my power source selection, please advise what Vin-Vout minimum drop voltage is.

BQ24296M: Thermistor and ILIM Questions

Part Number:BQ24296M

Hi,

I have a few design questions related to the BQ24296M:

1) Our LiPo battery does not have a thermistor.  How do you disable the TS signal?

2) In regards to PSEL and ILIM, does the charger use the lower of the two current limits?  For example, if PSEL = 0 (adapter, 3A) and ILIM is set for 2A, will the charger max out at 2A?

Best,

Matt

TPS53641: VIN_OV_FAULT_LIMIT issue.

Part Number:TPS53641

TPS53641 has VR_FAULT# asserted low.  the fusion shows  VIN_OV_FAULT_LIMIT (register 0x55) to be 15.000, with HEX value of 0x000F.

This is the only item that is different from a good working controller which shows VIN_OV_FAULT_LIMIT(register 0x55) to be 17.000, with HEX value of 0x0011

As a result of this failure the output voltage is at VBOOT value, and VOUT_MAX is at 3.04V (0x00FF).

Since I don't know what has caused this over voltage, I compared all pins voltages with the good working controller. The only difference that is see

is with pin TSEN (pin 40). the failing controller reads 0.833 volts, and the good controller reads 0.887 volt.

The input to TSEN is wire-AND of TAO output of two regulators(CSD95372BQ5M), as this controller  has two phases connected to these two regulators.

Would you please instruct as what could be the issue, and your recommendation on resolving it.

Note. FUSION shows the IMAX, value to be 55A, the same as good working board. I have checked all items listed in FUSION's General, Advanced, Device_info, and All config

to be the same as good working controller except the one mentioned above.

TPS92692-Q1: Pout(max) Buck-Boost

Part Number:TPS92692-Q1

Hello,

The Pout(max) in the  table 5 of Buck Boost design parameters is 12.6W.
However, the Vout is 39.6V(max) and ILED is 1500mA(max). So the Pout (max) would be 59.4W
I think that the calculation of Pout is not same with 12.6W if we use maximum value of Vout and ILED.
Is the calculated value of 12.6W correct?

Part Number:LM73606-Q1

Are there any specification differences between LM73606QRNPRQ1 (Q100 version) and LM73606RNPR (catalog)?  I could not find anything significant.  My customer wants to confirm there's no difference, as LM73606RNPR seems to have more inventory available for their initial board build.

Thanks,

Part Number:TPS22968

Does the TPS22968x-Q1 have an expected behavior if VIN/VBIAS pushes past its limits?  Does that behavior change based on how far past its limits it goes?

• VBIAS Voltage Range: 2.5 to 5.5 V

TPS2372: DEN pin resistor selection

Part Number:TPS2372

Hi Tom,

The datasheet shows that connect a 24.9k ohm resistor from DEN to VDD.

But we asked you before, and I suggest we can connect a 27.4k ohm resistor from DEN to VDD.

Could you kindly explain the reason we should modify it?
Because  the sifod test show Rdet, Rdet_final, Rdet_at_Vmin and Rdet_at_Vmax are fail.

I think it is because this modification cause test fail.

WEBENCH® Tools/UCC256301: How to start using the LLC controller UCC52630?

Part Number:UCC256301

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello, I am now trying to ues the LLC controller-UCC256301. Some problems has puzzled me a lot recently:

1/When I impose 15V-VCC and 3V power supply on the Pin3(VCC pin) and Pin-4(BLK pin) respectively, nothing such as low side driving pulse occured, and the voltage level of Pin12(RVCC pin) is always zero. I am wondering WHAT ELSE actions should be taken to get the controller work.

2/If I use the UCC256301 as a controller of a wide range voltage souce(36VDC~110VDC) DC-DC converter, How Should I configure the Pin1(HV pin)? Will it be OK to connect it directly to the Ground?

BQ4050: Conversion time for coloumb counter ADC

$

Part Number:BQ4050

Hi,

I have 2 questions:

-------------------------------------------------------

1-

The load current profile is square wave of  200mS with 5% duty cycle.

On time = 10mS@2mA

Off time= 190mS@1A

 -> Average of 190mA.

Would the bq4050 be able to measure current (and as a result count properly the coulombs), when there are such narrow pulses ?

-------------------------------------------------------

2-

In the datasheet, table 6.17, there are 4 lines for single conversion time. what does it means? Can i configure the conversion time?
