TPS65140: Error in Datasheet, equation 1?
Part Number: TPS65140
Hey there,
i was going through the design steps for the TPS65140 and stumbled over the first equation. Are you shure the equation and the result is right? I typed it into my calcuator and get 1.288....and not 0.73 as in the Datasheet. 0.73 isn´t even the inverse result. Am i unable to type in the equation or is there any other issue?
Thank you
EV2400: what difference between EV2400 version 0.05 and 0.18?
Part Number: EV2400
Hi,
We are a manufacturer of PCM tester and added a R/W function with EV2400 using VB6.
We got a error code 02 and failed to get connected with EV2400 version 0.18, but there was no problem with EV2400 version 0.05.
So, may I know what difference between EV 2400 version 0.05 and 0.18.
By the way, do you have any EV2400 VB example code can provide?
Thanks.
Best Regards,
Maggie
WEBENCH® Tools/TPS61099: suggested output capacitor from WEBENCH® Power designer
Part Number: TPS61099
Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
Hello to all,
customer did a simulation of the TPS61099 with the WEBENCH® Power Designer :
Vin 2.0V – 2.8V (2.2V nom)
Vout 3.1V
Iout max = 20mA
Values up to 3.3μF are suggested by the TI WEBBENCH Power Designer for the output capacitor Cout.
However,in the data sheet of the TPS61099, section 9.2.1.1.5 mention that the minimal value of the output capacitor Cout equals 20μF.
Are the 20uF just required for much higher output currents than the 20mA?
Can you confirm this assumption and can they use for the 20mA an output capacitor value significantly smaller than 20uF?
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Brian
BQ34Z100-G1: SOC 0%, FCC 0mAh
Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Hi,
I have a question regarding SOC 0% problem.
My battery:
- 13 cells in series (54.6V)
- 30 cells in parallel (86.4Ah)
- Panasonic NCR18650PF (2880mAh) cell -> Chem ID 2020
- Scale factor 3x (Capacity, Current)
I achieved the learning cycle on only one battery without thermistor, and with charging current that differs from my new charger specs (old 20A, new 27.5A). I have about 20 batteries, and the problem appears randomly. On the first 10 batteries, this happened only a few times, but on newer batteries, it fails after the second cycle on 4/10 batteries.
My schematic is the same as "TIDA-010030" (I've attached it). I've tried some solutions on previous posts regarding this problem (attaching capacitor to BAT pin, reducing Terminate Voltage), but nothing helped. The only difference between the first 10 batteries and the second 10 batteries is that I removed Q19 and Q20 fets (I suspect on turn on/off time of the fets), added a 10uF capacitor in parallel to R61 (according to the previous solution from your forum), and placed the thermistor in the middle of the battery pack, instead of placing thermistor on the edge cells.
The SOC gets stuck at 0%, FCC also(<100mAh), and the only thing that helps is reprogramming the bq34z100 device (neither reset nor disconnecting the cells). I don't think this is a hardware problem, I suspect on the configuration of the bq34z100-g1 device.
I've attached also a zip file with flash and registers content of two batteries after the problem occurred.(Please visit the site to view this file)
UCC28950: pmp8740 shim inductor heating
Part Number: UCC28950
Hi,
To achieve ZVS I have used shim inductor. PQ2620 core AF139 material, 33SWG conductor 30 strands, inductance 50uH.
And it is noticed that the shim inductor is heating a lot it is going beyond 100 degrees in a few minutes. I have tried at 400W as well as at 800W.
initially, I thought it is due to the minimum load issue for zvs. But the thing is that heating is increasing as loading got increased. Attaching the Vds and Vgs waveforms at 800W load.
blue is Vds(10X probe) 400V, yellow is Vgs. I think the miller plateau is still present. which means ZVS is not achieved. the case is almost similar for both the active and passive legs for 800 and 400W loads.
What will be the reason for this?
TPS53513: High duty cycle application
Part Number: TPS53513
Hi Sir,
Coulde I use TPS53513 in the applacation as below:
Vin=5V Vout=4V Iout=3.5A
The concern is could TPS53513 handle the big duty cycle? the worst case should be at the start up.
and also there is a 5V LDO inside, if the input voltage is below 5V, could the Vreg supply for the device and the gatedriver?
If TPS53513 can't support this application, could TPS54824 support? this one suport 100% duty cycle.
Thank you very much.
BQ24650EVM-639: Not Charging with Solar Panel
Part Number: BQ24650EVM-639
Hi All,
I am evaluating the BQ24650 EVM Module for one of my upcoming project.
I am facing an issue with the charging functionality with real Solar panel.
Please clarify it.
According to the Default setting of Evaluation Board is below :
a. "MPPSet" Sets the voltage 17.6V
b. Battery Charging Voltage 12.6V/ 2A.
Condition 1: Instead of Solar panel Input (VIN Terminal), I used DC Regulated Power Supply.
Case 1 : If MPPSet as 17.6V then the Panel voltage (DC Source) should be grater than 17.6V (like 19V, 20V) then only charging the battery otherwise not charging by observing panel current (DC Source) is 0A.
Should the Panel source volatge be greater than MPPT Set value in order to Charging the battery?
The above default configuration has to be Changed as per my Requirement given below:
My Requirement :
1. MPPT Set 11.11V by Changing the R19 as 60.4K.
2. Battery Charging Voltage configure to 13.65V by Changing the R15 to 90.9K
3. Battery Charging Current 10A by Changed the Inductor 3.5uH with 14A (L1), and Capacitor Changed to 43uF (C7), and Sense resistor Change to 4mE(R6).
Condition 2: Instead of Solar panel Input, I used DC Regulated Power Supply.
Case 2 : When the panel (DC source) is capable of giving more current then, Battery takes more current for charging.
If I Add fan load (12V/3.8A) across the Battery Then the Device starts working on MPPT. When the panel has insufficient current to supply to the battery , then MPPT Functionality starts. Is it the principle to work?
Condition 3: Tested with Real Solar panel also & battery is not getting charged.
Solar panel details:
Open voltage : 22.7
Short circuit current 900mA
Case 3 : I connected Two panels in parallel ( total current 1.6 A) given to the VIN terminal , it is not taking current from the panel, Battery not charging. Why it is not charging ?
Please give me your suggestion.
Thank and Regards,
Mohamed Sidiq.H
BQ24715: bq24715 can’t charge
Part Number: BQ24715
When the adapter is used to charge the battery,vcc_SYS 13.6v,ACDET 2.8V,CELL 3.6V,BAT 11V,but BATDRV is 13.2V
When a battery is used to power the system,BATDRV is 3.2V。
Please tell me, does this chip need to write a register to charge, and if not, what caused batdrv is 13.2V

TPS7B63-Q1: why dose WDO pin out to low ?
Part Number: TPS7B63-Q1
Hi Team.
My customer has some question about TPS7B6350-Q1.
My customer set the schematic as below
1) WTS = Low = Window watchdog mode
2) FSEL = Low = t(WD) = RROSC × 0.5 × 10-6 (RROSC = 60.4kΩ) = 30.2 mS
3) t(WD_INI) = 8 × t(WD) = 241.6 mS
4) WRS = Low = t(OW) = t(CW) = 50% × t(WD) = 15.1mS
5) t (WD_HOLD) = 20% × t (WD) = 6.04mS
and toggling WD pin every 10mS.
When WD_EN pin is low, WD pin toggling after 10mS.
Then WDO pin gose low ( MCU reset )
why dose WDO pin out to low ?
Let me know What kind of Fault condition ?
• Fault 1: The watchdog service signal is received during the closed window. The WDO is triggered once,
receiving a WD rising edge during the closed window.
• Fault 2: The watchdog service signal is not received during the open window. WDO is triggered after the
maximum open-window duration t(WD) / 2.
• Fault 3: The watchdog service signal is not received during the WD initialization. WDO is triggered after the
maximum initialization window duration 8 × t(WD).
thank you.
best regards
TPS2596: Cout and R_Load on the example schematic in the datasheet
Part Number: TPS2596
Hello,
I have two questions for Figure 54 and Figure 62 in the TPS2596 datasheet (SLVSET8A).
1.
Figure 54 uses 100uF and Figure 62 uses 1uF for Cout.
How to decide this Cout value? Isn’t it decided by TPS2596 device, but the load side?
2.
In Figure 62, there is “R_LOAD=100 ohm”. Is this just load or does it have any role for Vout?

BQ40Z80EVM-020: The supply current of the Bq40z80 system is abnormal
Part Number: BQ40Z80EVM-020
The PAD foot under our newly developed Bq40z80 chip was not connected, and it was found that the chip was hot after power on.At this time, the system supply current is 26mA.
Check bq40z80evm-020 and find that the power supply current is only 5mA.What is the reason?
BQ76930: Control Boot Pin by external Charger on BQ76930. Circuit ok?
Part Number: BQ76930
Hi everyone!
I am currently designing a BMS with a BQ76930 as a basis.
Some quick facts:
- 7S LiIon
- Internal Balancing
- High-Side Protection FETs with BQ76200
- Controlled by external MCU via I2C
- 150Wh total Energy
- ~60A max Current
I want to be able to transition from ship to normal mode when the charger is attached. This is due to several reasons, one is that we can then get rid of the button and just boot the whole system in our end-of-line test when the charger is attached anyways.
Is the "concept" in the image below correct and will work as desired?
Normally there will be no Voltage applied to D2, as there is no connection to Pack+. As soon as the charger is connected, Voltage will be applied to D2 either through the pack itself or through the charger.
Anything else I should be aware of?
Thanks for any input and best regards,
Jakob
TPS1H200A-Q1: Input and Output capacitance value
Part Number: TPS1H200A-Q1
Hello
Do you have any recommendation for capacitance value on VS input pin and OUT output pin of TPS1H200A-Q1?
My customer would like to understand how to decide these values in 24V system.
The maximum load, which is power line for a camera, is about 1A.

BQ40Z50-R2: Cycle count increments by two at regular intervals
Part Number: BQ40Z50-R2
Is there some setting in the fuel gauge which can cause the cycle count to increment by two at regular intervals.
I'm seeing cycle count incrementing by two after every 14 cycles (+-1 cycle) even though cycle count should increment by 1. Can the CCT bit (set to 0) or cycle count percentage settings cause that?
LM66100: LM66100 Vin transistor leakage problem
Part Number: LM66100
I built the RCB circuit with reference to the manual. The output terminal was connected to the battery. The battery voltage was measured to obtain 3.9v. One pin of lm66100 was measured, that is to say, the output terminal also had voltage, which is 3.9v as the battery voltage. But according to the design, the circuit can only charge the battery, and there should be no voltage in the reverse direction. Why is there a voltage of 3.9v here?
TPS23754: can not lock to PSE sometimes
Part Number: TPS23754
Dears,
We use TPS23754 design a 802.3AT PD power, when we test find only sometimes our PD can not get lock with PSE,it will not have power output.
We use the POE test instrument test our PD,then get as below picture, it says that need a 10mA load to maintain power signature(MPS).but our design always have a 1KOHM resistance at the output,We think it's not he root cause.
We are urgent to get help from TI,give us suggestion, whether have method to fix the cause??
