BQ25713: BQ25713 as LIFEPO4 backup manager

Part Number: BQ25713

Hi,

I'm designing a backup system with LIFEPO4 cells (3.2v nominal, 3.5Vmax, 2.8Vmin), 12V Vin and 12Vout.

1. Can I charge the battery to 14V (4s) and have simultaneusly 12V on VSYS?

2. When I remove Vin, Can I have 12V on VSYS regulated from the 14V to 11.2V from VBATT?

3. Are this transitions performed automatically?

4. What about using a 2S or 3S configuration?

5. What about bq24715 or bq24780S for this job?

Regards,

Fran

BQ2060A: Unable to retrieve temperature accurately.

Part Number: BQ2060A

Hello,

I have a bq2060a connected in a circuit and am communicating with it via EV2200 using 2200-60 Software.  I am able to load the EEProm, calibrate voltage and current successfully, however when it comes to calibrating temperature, i run into an issue with accuracy.  The range of values for the temperature offset per the datasheet is -12.8 through +12.7.  The calibration occurs in Kelvin.  I have a clean room that is set at 22.0C which is 295.2K.  I follow the standard calibration procedures and after calibration the temperature will not budge from 375.2K.  When reading the EEProm, the value is at the minimum allowance of -12.8.  This is common on 45 boards so far.

Is there another software i can use with the bq2060a to calibrate the temperature?  Maybe bqeasy or battery management studio?  This design is old and is supporting an existing product.

Thanks

Ashley

Hello everyone,

I have project that needs to be simulated. I am trying to simulate LM2596SX-ADJ/NOPB which I want to convert 5-12V DC to 3.3V DC. I tried to do it on Pspice, but I was stuck anywhere.

The design is like below:

Im trying to simulate in time domain(transient) with run to time 2ms.

I got the error:

I think it is related to the model of the lm2596 that pspice can not found the model.

What should I do for completing simulation.

Hello All

This post is dedicated to all the necrophiles who love to create projects in the language of dead dinosaurs.
If you haven’t guessed what language I’m talking about, this is the VB6 programming language.
After a lengthy search for the original library for managing USB-TO-GPIO, and not finding one on the Internet, I decided to create my own.

UCD3138A: How to unbrick device.

Part Number: UCD3138A

I accidentally bricked my processor. I need to unbrick it. I was writing to its memory and inserted a valid checksum with invalid program and data flash data. Now I can't detect the device anymore. I can't detect it in ROM or Program Flash mode anymore. I have validated all my code and hardware. I am using Fusion Designer to check the device and it was working perfectly until this last write. I need to erase the checksum and get back into ROM mode. Is there a hard reset or erase?

Can the sense resistor be placed on the high side of battery using BQ35100? If so, what is advantage/disadvantage of a high side vs low side implementation?

Thanks!

TPS57160-Q1: Power sequencing requirements?

Part Number: TPS57160-Q1

Hi, we have a new board built with TPS57160-Q1 for buck operation. In the initial test bypassed the input but directly applied 30V on the PH output (at the load side, so there is an inductor between the 30V and PH pin) to test later stages. right after the 30V is applied, the chip failed by shorting to ground (later measured 7 ohm between ph to gnd).

we looked at the circuit (pretty much the same as the datasheet figure 51, with more capacitors on the input and higher inductance) and the internal diagram but we could not see how there could be a path to short to ground.

after removing the part, we shorted the PH with Vin and tested the voltage rise and current there was no overshoot (<31V) or high current pulse (very short 25ns pulse on current to back charge the input caps).

Can anyone point out if there is power sequencing requirements for this part? if possible how it might fail if voltage is applied on PH pin without other pins or inputs being powered?

thanks

I am using UCC28742 to design flyback SMPS. The bias supply operating voltage range is 9 to 35V. But what is the recommended bias supply operating voltage ? It should be above UVLO turn threshold i.e. 21.6V or anything else ?

We have an application to derive the power for the micro-controller (3.3V/10mA) from the 4-20 signal, we are considering TPS62125 for this application. Please let us know if this is the right part and share the application circuits and other details to use this converter in such applications.

Also, please let us know if you have any technical details or guidelines that needs to be followed in such designs.

Low Noise LDO Recommendation

Hello,

I am making an RF amplifier for a signal in the ~micro volts range. I am trying to minimize the noise in the circuit, so I would love to get some recommendations on any LDOs, or combinations of LDOs and linear switching voltage regulators.

The power supply will likely be a 6 or 12V lead-acid battery, and I am hoping to get an output voltage of ~3.3V

Thank you for the help!

TPIC7218-Q1: Gate voltage drive on the GPR pins is NOT sufficient to provide a strong V GS

Part Number: TPIC7218-Q1

Hi, TI team

I have a problem about lack of voltage on Gate voltage drive on the GPR.When i actived the gate voltage drive on the GPR, its actived but the voltage is near 7 volt, while i will expected 20 volt, because of a built-in charge pump.

And I think the real cause of the issue has not be found, so I hope you can give me some additional suggestions.

Thanks so much!

UCC28710: How to handle ucc28710 in a buck converter design

$

Part Number: UCC28710

Dear Team

I'm a student from switzerland and i would like to design a buck converter (without isolated output) with the ucc28710 chip. My design should work in range of 85VAC to 275VAC input and the output should be 3.3VDC by a current around 100mA. Is the ucc28710 a ideal device for a low cost, high efficiency AC/DC converter?

The datasheet from ucc28710 treated only isolated topologies, so i found your reference design for a buck converter. Do you have any datasheets who treat non isolated topologies?

Next i simulated the reference design below with the ucc28710 transient model in the simulation programm TINA9, but it doesen't work. Even the start up proced doesn't work. What could be my failure?

After that i bought some ucc28710 to built the reference desgin. With a DC input (up to 110V) works nothing. Then i replaced the DC input with a AC input and the diode recifier with a bridge recifier. After that i saw the start up proced by a input voltage of 20VAC(make sense). Why it doesen't work with a DC input?

How can i influence the output voltage?

Best Regards

Sandro

TPS25200: TPS25200

Part Number: TPS25200

I have used TPS25200 for the purpose of the current limitation in my circuit. I have used 60.4Kohm for Rlim, and using equation 1 of the datasheet, Ios nominal will be approximately 1.5A. For testing, I used the potentiometer to reduce the load and thus increasing the current. But after testing the circuit I found out that for the value of 60.4k, TPS25200 limited the current in the range of 500mA. Then I tried to reduce the resistance of Rlim and found that for the value of Rlim in between 15k to 20k, threshold current changes drastically from 500mA to 5A. And the above tested has been done on different TPS25200 IC. Also as per the datasheet Rlim value should be between 33kohm and 1100kohm with the maximum current threshold of 3.1A.

Concluding, TPS25200 is limiting the current but not with the desired value calculated through the equation from the datasheet.

What should I do to get the desirable threshold current?

TPS54202: Quiscent Current

Part Number: TPS54202

Hi team,

In datasheet, the non switching quiescent current is 45uA. But in actual application, customers care more about switching quiescent current.

I have two questions as below:

1. How to test the non switching quiescent current? In other words, what's the test condition of 45uA?

2. I think 45uA makes no sense. Why don't we test switching quiescent current and write the result on datasheet?

Best regards,

Nison
