Part Number:BQ25895

Dear Sirs,

My customer faced stranger situation of EVM leakage issue.

As his testing, there is no system load attached, battery attached, no VUSB input, then turn off BATFET by GUI. (i.e. only battery attached on EVM)

They found the current meter that in serial with battery will show 0.5mA current consump.

Could you help to advise what is going on with it?

Thanks.

UCC28C43: ucc28c43

Part Number:UCC28C43

I have to confess my ignorance in this post upfront!

This topic has to do with slope compensation of a buck converter with 70% duty cycle.

One can read & I have been doing this for several years until now, but did not have any meaningful rebuttal of the  received truth because what I see does not match with what is stated.

For starters, all baseline  CCM/PCM  is stated to require slope compensation of Mc .

Magically if Mc=M2, down slope of the "inductor current", stability is achieved in 1 cycle.

A lot of ink has been spent on Mc, M2 etc.

But the solution always given to "add a slope compensation" from anywhere BUT the inductor current. In almost all literature, one is advised to just throw in after some  incomprehensible Algebra using Rs, Gi, Ri, Km etc. etc...in the end one adds ramp of the oscillator to the sensed current.

WELL THAT ramp has no connection with the inductor down slope! Nor any connection with what has been derived as "down slope"

besides, the switch has been already turned off. So what part in the control section has any contribution to make in compensating for Subharmonic oscillation?

Pl see the TINA-TI screen shot: the values of the compensation cannot be derived from SLUA301 not from SLV450. In real circuit, this is a very very slow circuit to respond to transients.

Does it mean that getting 270V from a 350V is not theoretically possible using a buck converter?

I suspect, the model  does not give proper values because "slope compensation" --if the SPICE model of UCC28C43 contains the artifact to response to compensation- is not really being added correctly. Even though  we are doing exactly what is written in the cited materials.

So how do we get to a decent cross over freq of this circuit ?

W: we do have an ACS723 after the inductor - but its BW is 80kHz while switching is happening at 200 KHz. We have it so  shut down in case of short circuit.

Can that be used for "Slope comp"?

Any help will be highly appreciated. '

TPS650830: RESETZ output pin configuration?

Part Number:TPS650830

Hi team,

Customer inquired that he could not get a low level out for RESETZ in low-out logic state.

The RESETZ pin is defined as a push-pull output in the datasheet.

He got a low signal level when pulling up with a resistor, such as open drain.

What kinds of problems are considered?

TPS65381A-Q1: Powering RM57L843 - Some Questions

Part Number:TPS65381A-Q1

Hi,

I'd like to power a RM57L843 with a TPS65381A-Q1. I need to consider a +24VDC input.

I've noticed there is a lack of available reference designs for this configuration. I have found a few reference options:

1. RM46CNCD

2. TIDA-00548 (Which is a 4-20mA reference design + RM41)

3. SLVA830 (Power steering reference design).

4. TPS65381EVM

There are other designs available for powering TMS570 devices from the TPS65381

The RM57L843 needs 1.20V at 1350mA and therefore I have two options as I see it.

1. Implement an external FET connected to the TPS65381A-Q1 and manage the heat dissipation.

2. Implement an external buck controller, such as in TIDA-00548 and use its output as the 1.2V feedback into the TPS65381A-Q1.

I feel solution 1 is the easiest path, but I'm very concerned about thermal issues as I know the RM46CNCD boards have exhibited a fair amount of heat in the past. I can't find a webench option for TPS65381 so its difficult to check the performance.

Can anyone provide any suggestion or feedback to my points 1 or 2 above, and more-over is there a RM57L843 + TPS65381 reference design available?

Thanks

Stomp!

Part Number:UCC28730

 Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using UCC28730 and UCC24650 for their new products which need lower stanby current feature.

They have experience with many fly-back type power supply designs and they want to understand UCC28730 function and all equations for the device well

prior to designing transformer for the device evaluations. But they can't understand No.14 equation for Lp calculation on page 26 in the device datasheet (SLUSBL5).

So could you please tell me the formulation of the equation?

Your reply would be much appreciated.

 Best regards,

 Kazuya Nakai.

Hello guys,

One of my customers is considering using UCC28730 and UCC24650 for their new products which need lower stanby current feature.

The customer has the following question about UCC28730.

Q: Is 100kohm needed to insert between VBULK and UCC28730"HV" terminal because UCC28730EVM-552 uses the 100kohm though Figure 23, application circuit in the device datahsheet doesn't use the 100kohm.

Could you please give me your reply. Your reply would be much appreciated.

BQ25606: BQ25606 inrush current issue when the T=0degC to 5degC(recovery JEITA test)

Part Number:BQ25606

When we try to test the JETIA profile, we find that the output has two charging current and has VBAT drop voltage during the temperature recover from 0deg.C to 25deg.C.

Do you have idea for that?

Ta= -10degC rises to 10degC , when T=1degC, the charging is recovery but we see 1. inrush current. 2. VBAT drop
Jeita profile, T1(rising) 0mA->120mA

We use battery simulator to emulate the battery to do the charging test. We found the charging current will have slight change during the VBAT=VSYS. Some change is slight and some is large, you can see the picure that we show below. Does it be normal if the current is still inside the tolerance defined in the datasheet?

BQ34Z651: Voltage blocking PF clearing

$

Part Number:BQ34Z651

Hi There,

I have noticed today that the voltage of my 2S battery pack affects whether or not I can clear a Permanent Failure.

I am using the PFIN input pin to trigger Permanent Failures on demand and that works beautifully, and when the pack is at 7 volts I can clear them again just fine.

But when my pack is at 6V (5.5V is the point where faults start to be thrown) I am no longer able to clear the failure.

If I don't cause the failure then the pack is perfectly happy at that voltage but something is stopping me from clearing the failure that I trigger.

Nothing in the documentation seems to indicate what is preventing my fault clearing so I was wondering if anyone had any insight,

Thanks,.

LM3481: UVLO formula to back calculation shutdown voltage

$

Part Number:LM3481

Hi,

Using the UVLO circuit, it is easy to back calculate the enable voltage as it is straight forward. However, the shutdown voltage formula depends on enable voltage. So, i have changed it like shown below. Is this correct ?

From (Ven dependent):

Vsh = 1.43V * [ (R8*Iuvlo/1.43V) - 1 ] * [ Ven - 1.43V ]

To (Ven independent):

Vsh = 1.43V + R7 * [ (1.43V/R8) - Iuvlo ]

Also, considering worst case on 1.43V and Iuvlo, iam getting huge variation in shutdown voltage. Is this noticed during internal tests. Or do you have any worst case tolerance limits measured ?

Thanks,

Albin

TPS22913: how does tON time change with CL=4.4uF?

Part Number:TPS22913

Dear all,

About TPS22913B, Could you teach me how does tON time change with CL=4.4uF?

At TPS22913B data sheet, there is the data with CL=0.1uF. If this CL become to 4.4uF, tON time will be 44 times? or not change so much?

For example, TPS22916 has the data as Figure 15.

It will be good that there are the graph about TPS22913B like TPS22916's.

Part Number:UCC28180

Hello

I have built Reference Buck converter from TIDA-00652, On stand by , when DRV10983  is in standby mode(  minimum load to No load ) C1 (4.7uF/450v) and U4 (STQ1NK60ZR-AP) heat up in around 60 sec to 85deg C in open air bench test. As soon as the DRV10983 turn on. both components cool down. Is this temperature increase in low load condition as per design or is something wrong with my board.I have all the components as per the BOM for the design.Shouldn't BiasHV line be used only to start the power supply and power the UCC28180D only on startup and later MAG ( aux winding)  should power the I.C.?

I have confirmed all the voltages at VCC, Vsense, and gate of U4 , all are in specification. even Output voltage is 23.95V, so the I.C does turn on and generate gate DRV frequency.

Thanks and Regards

Dinar

Part Number:BQ3060

Hi Expert,

The customer has below user case need to clarified.

Conditions: During RSOC under 30%,then start the LTPF then go into shutdown mode. The RD find the RSOC will become 0%.And they need to do learning cycle again.

The question listed below:

1)Before enable LTPF,the customer had made the learning cycle already, whether doing the IC reset and IC shutdown will cause the fail of FCC update ?

2)Whether enable LTPF will cause the IC become full reset?

3)Now recycle the input power after IC go to shutdown mode, whether IC will see the full reset?

Part Number:LM5064

Is it possible to use LM5064 with OUT pin leave open?

I think Power limit, PGOOD, and Read Vout function don't work, however other functions are normal.

I think we can use LM5064 with OUT pin leave open if we don't require the above functions.

Is this my idea right?
